Ethereal Crests

Ethereal Crests are a special currency used by players to upgrade their gear. You receive different types of crests for various in‑game activities, such as local quests, raids, or dungeons. The harder the challenge, the better the crests you’ll get.

Players can obtain four types of Ethereal Crests, each with its own method of acquisition and purpose:

Weathered Ethereal Crest

Used to upgrade "Adventurer" and "Veteran" gear.

Can be obtained by:

• Completing local and daily events in the open world.
• Clearing the Manaforge Omega raid in LFR mode.
• Running seasonal dungeons in Heroic mode.
• Completing Outposts levels 1–5.

Carved Ethereal Crest

Used to upgrade "Veteran" and "Defender" gear.

Can be obtained by:

• Completing weekly events in the open world.
• Clearing the Manaforge Omega raid on Normal mode.
• Running seasonal dungeons on Mythic mode.
• Completing Outposts levels 6–7.
• Looting Outpost Cache levels 4–5.

Runed Ethereal Crest

Used to upgrade "Defender" and "Hero" gear.

Can be obtained by:

• Clearing the Manaforge Omega raid on Heroic mode.
• Running Mythic+ dungeons levels 2–6.
• Completing Outposts levels 8–11.
• Looting Outpost Cache levels 6–7.

Gilded Ethereal Crest

Used to upgrade "Hero" and "Legend" gear.

Can be obtained by:

• Clearing the Manaforge Omega raid on Mythic mode.
• Running Mythic+ dungeons level 7+.
• Opening Gilded Cache in Outposts level 11.
• Looting Outpost Cache level 8+.

The number of each type of crest a character can hold is limited and increases gradually each week.
When a character reaches the maximum number of one type of crest, they will start receiving crests one tier lower until the end of the week, and so on as limits are reached. In some cases, crests obtained from specific time‑limited sources are exempt from these restrictions.

Weathered Ethereal Crest

• From Azerite spheres in the open world — 1–2 each.
• From open‑world treasures — 1–2 each.
• For completing local quests — 1–2 each.
• For participating in public events in the open world — 1–2 each.
• For defeating world bosses — 1–2.
• For defeating rare enemies — 1–2.
• For increasing reputation with factions — 15 one‑time:
  • Dornogal Council — at levels 6, 9, 11, 19, and 25.
  • Deep Assembly — at levels 6, 9, 11, 15, and 17.
  • Arathi Deepvein — at levels 6, 9, 13, 16, and 22.
  • Severed Threads — at levels 7, 9, 12, 18, and 21.
  • Lower Mines Cartel — at levels 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18.
  • Flameglow — at levels 4, 7, and 10.
  • K'arash Concern — at levels 5 and 8.
• For completing Outposts levels 1–5 — 2–6 each.
• For clearing seasonal dungeons on Heroic mode — 10 each.
• For defeating bosses in the Manaforge Omega raid (LFR mode) — 10 each for bosses 1–6, 15 each for bosses 7–8.

Carved Ethereal Crest

• For completing elite local quests — 5 each.
• For completing special local quest assignments — 5 each.
• For defeating elite rare enemies — 1–2.
• For increasing reputation with factions — 15 one‑time:
  • K'arash Concern — at levels 12, 14, and 17.
• For completing Outposts levels 6–7 — 3–5 each.
• From Outpost Cache levels 4–5 — 3–5 each.
• For participating in public events in the open world — 5 each.
• For completing weekly tasks and quests — 5–15 each.
• For clearing seasonal dungeons on Mythic mode — 15 each.
• For defeating bosses in the Manaforge Omega raid (Normal mode) — 10 each for bosses 1–6, 15 each for bosses 7–8.
• For defeating bosses in the Manaforge Omega raid (LFR mode) — 15 each for bosses 7–8.
• From the Triumphal Bag of Carved Ethereal Crests from Ardgaz in Dornogal for 1 Algari Token of Recognition from the Great Vault — 15.

Runed Ethereal Crest

• For completing Outposts levels 8–11 — 3–13 each.
• From Outpost Cache levels 6–7 — 4–10 each.
• For defeating Ki'veza in Voidcleaver's Refuge — 2 each.
• For clearing seasonal dungeons on Mythic+ mode levels 2–6 — 10–18 each.
• For defeating bosses in the Manaforge Omega raid (Heroic mode) — 10 each for bosses 1–6, 15 each for bosses 7–8.
• For defeating bosses in the Manaforge Omega raid (Normal mode) — 15 each for bosses 7–8.
• As a reward for the quest Cracked Key from Outposts for clearing a Mythic+ dungeon — 15 one‑time.
• From the Festive Bundle of Runed Ethereal Crests from Ardgaz in Dornogal for 2 Algari Tokens of Recognition from Dornogal’s Great Vault — 15.

Gilded Ethereal Crest

• From the Gilded Cache in promising Outposts level 11 — 7 each (max 21 per week).
• From Outpost Cache level 8+ — 4–10 each.
• For clearing seasonal dungeons on Mythic+ mode level 7+ — 10–20 each.
• For defeating bosses in the Manaforge Omega raid (Mythic mode) — 10 each for bosses 1–6, 15 each for bosses 7–8.
• For defeating bosses in the Manaforge Omega raid (Heroic mode) — 15 each for bosses 7–8.
• As a reward for the quest Cracked Key from Outposts for clearing a Mythic+ dungeon — 15 one‑time.

You can exchange crests with Vaskarn in Dornogal to obtain the currency you’re missing.

You can exchange higher‑rank crests for lower‑rank ones at a 1:1 ratio. This exchange doesn’t count toward the weekly limit. To make the exchange, you must complete the quest «Ethereal Crests» from Vaskarn (Ethereal Crests).

• Bag of Weathered Ethereal Crests — sold for 15 Carved Ethereal Crests and contains 15 Weathered Ethereal Crests.
• Bag of Carved Ethereal Crests — sold for 15 Runed Ethereal Crests and contains 15 Carved Ethereal Crests.
• Bundle of Runed Ethereal Crests — sold for 15 Gilded Ethereal Crests and contains 15 Runed Ethereal Crests.

You can exchange lower‑rank crests for higher‑rank ones at a 3:1 ratio. This exchange counts toward the weekly limit. To make the exchange, you must have earned the corresponding achievement for collecting gear of at least the required item level.

• Triumphal Bag of Carved Ethereal Crests — sold for 45 Weathered Ethereal Crests and contains 15 Carved Ethereal Crests (requires the achievement «Weathered Ethereal» (Weathered Ethereal) for gear level 678+).
• Festive Bundle of Runed Ethereal Crests — sold for 45 Carved Ethereal Crests and contains 15 Runed Ethereal Crests (requires the achievement «Carved Ethereal» (Carved Ethereal) for gear level 691+).
• Magnificent Handful of Gilded Ethereal Crests — sold for 45 Runed Ethereal Crests and contains 15 Gilded Ethereal Crests (requires the achievement «Runed Ethereal» (Runed Ethereal) for gear level 704+).
