Warglaive of Azzinoth
Warglaive of Azzinoth
Warglaive of Azzinoth are a pair of combat blades that belonged to Illidan.
The blades were forged at the behest of Azinoth — the commander of the Doomguard, a high‑ranking demon of the Burning Legion. Azinoth fell in battle against Illidan during the War of the Ancients, when Illidan still fought on the side of the night elves.
After his victory, Illidan claimed the blades, which became his primary weapon.

How to obtain Warglaive of Azzinoth
Obtaining the combat blades involves several stages and requires a significant amount of time — both to acquire the blades themselves and to unlock their transmogrification.
Stage 1
To get the blades, you need to enter the Black Temple raid. To do this, fly through the portal hall to Shattrath, exit the city, mount a flying mount, and head to the eastern part of Shadowmoon Valley.

For details about the raid and how to access it, see our special guide.
Inside the raid, you must defeat Illidan Stormrage. With some chance, you may receive one of the two blades:
- Warglaive of Azzinoth (right‑hand blade).
- Warglaive of Azzinoth (left‑hand blade).
You need to obtain both blades using one of the classes that can wield these weapons:
Warrior
Rogue
Death Knight
Monk
Demon Hunter
All items are account‑wide, so it doesn’t matter which character obtains the blades. What’s important is getting one for each hand.
Stage 2
Once you have obtained the right‑ and left‑hand blades, you need to complete the Black Temple raid on the current difficulty setting to earn the achievement ...And I’ll Take Them.
The raid becomes available several times a year during the Burning Crusade Timewalking event. Typically, this event occurs every 4 months and lasts for 1 week.
You’ll need to assemble or join a raid group and complete the raid.
After defeating Illidan, you’ll receive the achievement, unlocking the ability to transmogrify the combat blades.
Notes
You don’t need to complete the Timewalking raid with a class that can use the blades. You can sign up even as a healer. The achievement is account‑wide, so transmogrification will be unlocked for all your characters.
As of now, only Demon Hunters can transmogrify the combat blades. Even if you obtained the blades on a Warrior or Rogue, transmogrification will not be available to those classes.
If playing as a Demon Hunter, you can skip most of the raid by going straight to the final three bosses, provided you’re not interested in loot from the earlier bosses.
To do this, defeat the first boss, go to the open area where the second boss is located, defeat it, and in the room behind the boss, turn left. In this hall, you’ll find a chain leading up to the temple’s ceiling. Above and to the left of the chain, there’s a balcony. Using a double jump, you can leap up the chain links until you reach the balcony, then jump onto it, skipping most of the raid.
