Overview

Antoran Gloomhound

The Antoran Gloomhound is a flying mount with a shadowy coloration, added in patch 7.3.0 of the Legion expansion. It resembles Shatug, one of the two bosses in the Felhounds of Sargeras encounter in the raid Antorus, the Burning Throne.

Why You Want This Mount

  • A striking flying mount in a purple-shadow coloration — the model of the demonic hound Shatug
  • Reward for the meta-achievement Glory of the Argus Raider, which requires completing 11 special achievements in the Antorus raid
  • A guaranteed reward — unlike the Antoran Charhound, which drops at roughly a 1% chance, this mount is granted immediately once you complete the meta-achievement
  • Account-bound — once obtained, it is available to all your characters
  • Outdated content — the Legion raid can be soloed at level 80 in 15-20 minutes

Requirements

  • A character at level 45 or higher (level 80 is recommended for comfortable solo clears)
  • Riding skill: Apprentice Riding (ground), Expert Riding (flying)
  • Access to Argus (unlocked through a quest chain in Dalaran)
  • Achievements are completed on Normal difficulty or higher

How to Get to Antorus, the Burning Throne

The Route Through Argus

  1. Head to Dalaran (Broken Isles) and use the Vindicaar beacon to teleport to Argus
  2. Teleport to Vanguard's Hope (or Light's Purchase) in the Antoran Wastes
  3. From Vanguard's Hope, move south toward the river of lava

Raid entrance coordinates:

/way Antoran Wastes 55.0 62.5 Antorus, the Burning Throne (entrance)

Alternative entrance coordinates through the crack near the artillery platform:

/way 11.49 87.13

Warning: do not approach the raid's main gate — it deals lethal damage. The entrance is located through a crack below the artillery platform next to the Felfire Armory.

If You Don't Have Access to Argus

On characters that haven't unlocked Argus, you will need to complete the introductory quest chain:

  1. Pick up the quest "The Hand of Fate" (or the Horde equivalent) from Khadgar in Dalaran
  2. Follow the quest chain until the Vindicaar beacons are unlocked
  3. Unlock teleportation to the Antoran Wastes

The chain takes about 30-40 minutes on a first run.

The "Glory of the Argus Raider" Achievement List

The meta-achievement includes 11 sub-achievements — one for each raid boss. All are completed on Normal difficulty or higher.

1. Worm-monger

Boss: Garothi Worldbreaker

Objective: Kill 16 Plagued Worms during the fight, then defeat the boss.

Solo tip: At level 90 the worms are easily destroyed with AoE abilities. Don't kill the boss until you have racked up the required number of worms. The worms are summoned by the boss's bombardments — wait through a few cycles.

2. Hounds Good To Me

Boss: Felhounds of Sargeras — F'harg and Shatug

Objective: Kill the Felhounds of Sargeras while both hounds have 5 stacks of the "Fel Imbuement" effect.

Solo tip: One of the harder achievements to solo. On a Brewmaster Monk you can use the Black Ox Statue to control one of the hounds. The stacks build up naturally during the fight — just drag the fight out long enough without killing the hounds too early.

3. This is the War Room!

Boss: Antoran High Command

Objective: Defeat the Antoran High Command using no more than 3 Fel Shield Emitters.

Solo tip: At level 90 the boss dies within a few seconds — you simply won't have time to use the emitters, and the achievement will count automatically.

4. Portal Combat

Boss: Portal Keeper Hasabel

Objective: Open a chaotic rift and defeat the boss.

Solo tip: You need to enter each of the three portals and collect specific debuffs. Highly mobile classes (Demon Hunter, Monk) have an easier time.

5. Spheres of Influence

Boss: Eonar the Life-Binder

Objective: Collect all the Life Spheres that appear during the fight.

Solo tip: The spheres appear at fixed points across the platforms. Use a mount to move quickly between platforms. Memorize the sphere spawn points.

6. Hard to Kill

Boss: Imonar the Soulhunter

Objective: Activate all the traps on the bridge and defeat the boss.

Solo tip: Instead of avoiding the traps while crossing the bridge, deliberately walk through each one. At level 80 the trap damage is negligible.

7. The World Revolves Around Me

Boss: Kin'garoth

Objective: During the Apocalypse Module activation, circle around the boss, passing through all the zones.

Solo tip: Watch the module activation timings and move around the boss. At a high level the achievement is completed without any real trouble.

8. Together We Stand

Boss: Varimathras

Objective: Defeat Varimathras without triggering the "Alone in the Darkness" effect.

Solo tip: The "Alone in the Darkness" effect triggers if you stand too far from allies. Solo, this achievement cannot be earned the standard way, since you are always "alone." Use a Hunter/Warlock pet or summon a companion to bypass the mechanic. A Warrior can also use a War Banner.

9. Remember the Titans

Boss: The Coven of Shivarra

Objective: Summon all four Titan helpers and defeat the bosses.

Solo tip: Drag the fight out so that all four Titans are summoned in sequence. Don't kill the bosses too quickly.

10. Don't Sweat the Technique

Boss: Aggramar

Objective: Kill the Manifestation of Taeshalach, then defeat Aggramar.

Solo tip: One of the toughest achievements to solo. The Manifestation must be hit by Foe Breaker, Flare, and Searing Tempest a certain number of times. The knockback from Flare makes positioning harder. Use crowd control (stun, root) on the Manifestation so it doesn't get too close to Aggramar. Classes with control (Monk, Druid) handle it better.

11. Stardust Crusaders

Boss: Argus the Unmaker

Objective: Collect 20 Stardust particles within 5 seconds and defeat the boss.

Solo tip: This is the most problematic achievement to solo. The particles appear gradually as the fight goes on. You need to hoard them and collect 20 within 5 seconds. Install the Instance Achievement Tracker addon to track your progress. On some classes you may need a second character or self-healing to survive the drawn-out fight.

Step-by-Step Mount Guide

Preparation

  1. Choose a level 80 character with strong AoE damage and crowd control
  2. Recommended classes: Monk (Brewmaster), Hunter, Druid, Death Knight
  3. Install the Instance Achievement Tracker addon to track progress
  4. Make sure you have unlocked access to Argus

Clearing the Raid

  1. Teleport to Argus and make your way to the raid entrance
  2. Set the difficulty to Normal or higher
  3. Kill the bosses one by one, fulfilling the conditions of each achievement
  4. Most achievements are earned on the first try at level 80
  5. If an achievement fails — come back the following week

After Earning All 11 Achievements

The meta-achievement Glory of the Argus Raider is awarded automatically, and you will receive the Antoran Gloomhound straight into your mount collection.

Farm Optimization

  • One run usually isn't enough. Although most achievements are earned on the first try, two or three may require additional attempts: "Hounds Good To Me," "Don't Sweat the Technique," and "Stardust Crusaders."
  • Weekly reset. The raid resets every week. On each run you can attempt all the achievements you haven't yet completed.
  • You don't have to do every achievement in a single run. Meta-achievement progress is saved between weeks. Knock out a few achievements at a time.
  • Use multiple characters. Achievements are account-bound — complete the difficult ones on suitable classes.
  • A full raid clear from the first boss to the last takes 15-20 minutes at level 80.

Tips

1

Before a run, study the specific achievements you plan to complete. For some it's important not to kill the boss too quickly.

2

When working on "Don't Sweat the Technique" — take off some of your gear so you don't kill the boss too early.

3

For "Together We Stand" be sure to bring a class with a pet, or ask a friend.

4

"Stardust Crusaders" is the most unpredictable achievement. Stock up on patience and use an addon to track it.

5

Alongside the achievements you can farm the Legion transmog sets from Antorus.

6

If you already have the Antoran Charhound, the Antoran Gloomhound makes a great matching mount in a shadowy coloration.
