Overview

Frost Tiger Blade

Frost Tiger Blade is a low-level two-handed sword that originates from classic World of Warcraft. Despite its modest item level, its appearance is prized by transmog collectors for its distinctive silhouette: a broad, serrated blade of cold gray-blue steel with a predatory curve that evokes a tiger's fang.

The sword carries an icy theme not only in its appearance but also in its effect: when it strikes an enemy, it releases a frost bolt that deals Frost magic damage and slows the target. This has no impact on transmogrification, but it gives the weapon some character.

This weapon is a crafted item rather than a boss drop, so you can obtain it predictably as long as you have access to the right profession or to the marketplace. The sword is of uncommon (green) quality.

Source

The Frost Tiger Blade does not drop from bosses — it is a product of the Blacksmithing profession.

  • Profession: Blacksmithing, requires skill 200.
  • Recipe: Plans: Frost Tiger Blade. The plans are not sold by ordinary vendors — it is a "world" drop that comes from a wide variety of mid-level creatures all over Azeroth, so the easiest way to get it is to buy it from the auction house.
  • Reagents for crafting:
  • The finished sword is not soulbound, so it can be crafted on a blacksmith and handed to another character on the account, or bought ready-made from another player.

If you don't have Blacksmithing

The quickest route is to look for a finished blade or its plans on the auction house. Since both the plans and the sword itself are not soulbound, the market is regularly restocked with them. If you are leveling Blacksmithing yourself, raise the skill to at least 200 and stock up in advance on steel bars, jade, and frost oil.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It fits "frosty" and wintry outfits in white-blue and silver tones.
  • It harmonizes with death knight looks and other concepts tied to ice and cold.
  • It looks great on low-level characters for stylized "starter" looks, where you don't want to carry a faceless gray weapon.
  • It contrasts with warm golden-red sets — in such a combination the blade works as a cold accent.

Tips

1

If Blacksmithing is already leveled, crafting the sword is the cheapest way to get it: the reagents are inexpensive and easy to gather at low levels.

2

The plans drop extremely widely and are not tied to a single zone, so farming them deliberately is inefficient — it is more worthwhile to check the auction house.

3

The sword is not soulbound, so even a copy borrowed for a while is enough to unlock the appearance: you only need to get the item into your inventory once and apply transmogrification.

4

Steel bars are smelted from iron ore and coal — if you are leveling Blacksmithing alongside Mining, the materials will come together along the way.

5

Jade is mined from mid-level veins, and frost oil is brewed by alchemists, so if you lack these professions yourself, it is easier to buy these reagents on the auction house.

6

The appearance is saved in your transmogrification collection forever after the sword is first obtained by any character on the account.
