Armored Blue Dragonhawk
Overview

Armored Blue Dragonhawk is a flying mount exclusive to the Alliance, awarded for the Mount Parade achievement. It is a blue-steel-clad version of the regular dragonhawk with an ornately decorated caparison and armor on the neck, legs, and tail. The model was added in the Mists of Pandaria expansion as a reward for mount collectors and remains relevant today.
The mount flies at the speed of your riding skill, binds when obtained, and becomes available to all Alliance characters on the account immediately after completing the achievement. The Horde equivalent is the Armored Red Dragonhawk.
Why You Want This Mount
- Collector's badge. The dragonhawk tells everyone around you that you have already gathered 200 different mounts. It is a noticeable milestone in your collection and a reason to be proud.
- Progress toward future rewards. The road to 200 mounts automatically brings you closer to the achievements and further milestones at 300, 400, and 500 mounts.
- Faction exclusivity. On the Alliance, the blue dragonhawk is ridden only by players who reached 200 mounts the honest way — transferring it via a faction change is impossible, as the model stays bound to the faction it was originally earned on.
- Aesthetics. The blue armor looks great alongside the crests of Stormwind and suits the transmogs of paladins, death knights, and Kirin Tor mages.
Requirements and How to Get It
To obtain the
Armored Blue Dragonhawk, you need:
- Faction: Alliance. For Horde characters the achievement awards the red version of the mount.
- Achievement: Mount Parade — collect 200 mounts available to a single character.
- Riding skill: any (Apprentice and above). The mount's flight speed equals your current skill.
- Character level: none formally, but for quickly collecting 200 mounts it is more convenient to have a level 80 character with the expansions unlocked.
- Subscription: an active subscription to the Retail version. The mount is not available in Classic modes.
After earning the achievement, the mount automatically arrives in your in-game mail from the Alliance Quartermasters and is added to your collection right after you first use the scroll.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1. Assess Your Current Collection
Open the Collections panel (default hotkey Shift+P) and go to the Mounts tab. The number of collected mounts is shown in the top-left corner. Count how many you still need to reach 200. Keep in mind: only mounts that can be summoned on the current character count.
Step 2. Gather the "Free" Mounts from Quests
A quick foundation for your collection is story and daily rewards:
- Starting racial mounts and cross-racial ones earned through reputation (The Exodar, Darnassus, Stormwind City, Ironforge).
- Mounts from the "Explorer" achievements (gradual exploration of the continents).
- Rewards from the story campaigns of The War Within, Dragonflight, Shadowlands, Battle for Azeroth, and Legion.
Step 3. Farm Reputation with Factions
Faction quartermasters often sell mounts for Exalted reputation: the Cenarion Expedition, the Sons of Hodir, the Talanas, the Skyway, the Valarjar, and others. In The War Within of 2026, accelerated reputation gains are available through weekly quests from Advisor Vandros.
Step 4. Solo Old Raids and Dungeons
At level 90 you can clear content up to Legion on your own. Visit weekly:
- Onyxia's Lair
- Karazhan
- the Cache of the Conquerors in Ulduar
- the Firelands
Step 5. Take Up Several Professions with Mounts
Engineers craft the Mechano-hog, the Mekgineer's Chopper, and the X-53 rocket. Alchemists craft the Alchemist's Stone steed. These mounts bind to the character and do not count for others, but they nicely fill out the collection on a single hero.
Step 6. Use Holiday Events
Throughout the year the mounts you need are awarded during holidays:
- Love is in the Air — the
X-45 "Heartbreaker". - Brewfest — the
Great Brewfest Kodo. - Hallow's End —
The Horseman's Reins from the Headless Horseman. - Argent Tournament — dozens of mounts in exchange for tokens.
Step 7. Close Out the Last 10–20 Mounts with Purchases and PvP
Vendors in Stormwind and Orgrimmar (depending on faction) sell the Stormwind Steed and similar models. PvP seasons award the Vicious Silver Mare for a certain number of wins. This is a fast way to round out the last few slots.
Step 8. Get the Mount
As soon as the counter reaches 200, the achievement completes automatically. Within a few minutes, a letter from the Alliance Quartermasters with the
Armored Blue Dragonhawk item arrives in your in-game mail. Pick it up, use it — the mount will be unlocked forever in all Alliance collections on the account.
Farming Optimization
- Play on a single character. The achievement counts the mounts available to a specific hero. If you have profession mounts or reputation rewards spread across different characters, move the collecting to your main.
- Use the weekly raid cooldown. Raids with mounts are weekly loot. Set up a rotation of 6–8 old raids and run them once a week.
- Close out the continent Explorer achievements. The "Explorer of the Eastern Kingdoms," "Explorer of Kalimdor," and similar achievements award mounts to a single character and work for all classes.
Tips
1
If you recently changed faction from Horde to Alliance and already have the red dragonhawk, you still won't be given the blue one a second time — only one achievement counts per account.
2
The mount is listed as a flyer in the collection, but it summons perfectly fine on the ground in cities where flying is forbidden — it simply won't take off.
3
When playing in a group, show off the mount in capitals: this often becomes a reason for newcomers to ask questions and look for collecting tips.
