Trained Meadowstomper

Overview

Trained Meadowstomper

Trained Meadowstomper is a battle elekk from the line of Draenor mounts that your hero personally catches and tames through the Stables of their Garrison. The mount was added in the Warlords of Draenor expansion and is available to players of both factions. It is a ground mount that you train through a chain of quests from the stable master in the Garrison.

In the current patch (Midnight, 2026), the mount can still be obtained in full: Draenor's old Garrison mechanics have not been removed, and a level 90 character completes the entire path with room to spare. The reward for the mount is the Trained Meadowstomper item, which adds the mount to your account-wide collection.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Rare model. The elekk meadowstomper, with its distinctive coloring and battle gear, looks massive and recognizable, especially next to the standard mounts of the Horde and Alliance.
  • A personal story. You don't buy the mount or loot it from a boss — you lasso a wild beast yourself and train it in battle. This connection gives a sense of personal accomplishment.
  • Achievement progress. Completing the six stable mounts opens the path to the Master of Mounts achievement and the level 3 Stables blueprint, and the meadowstomper itself counts toward your overall collection.
  • Account-wide. The mount is saved across all characters on the account, even if you later demolish the Stables in your Garrison.
  • A simple level 90 activity. The chain is completed without a group and without complex mechanics, making it a convenient break between raids and keys.

Requirements and How to Get There

To start your path to the mount, you need to meet a few basic conditions:

  • Character level: 40+ for the quests themselves, but it is more comfortable to complete them at level 90 of the current patch.
  • Riding skill: Apprentice Riding and above.
  • Garrison on Draenor: must be built and unlocked (the Warlords of Draenor introductory chain).
  • Level 1 Stables: the small Stables building placed in a large Garrison plot.
  • An active stable master: after construction, you need to talk to the stable mentor — it is they who hand out the chain for catching and training.

You can reach the Garrison via teleport from Orgrimmar or Stormwind, or through the portal to Nagrand (Draenor). The chain quests are completed in Nagrand (Draenor), so keep your Garrison hearthstone handy for quick returns.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Build the Garrison. Complete the Warlords of Draenor introductory chain at the Dark Portal and bring your headquarters to level 2 in Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) or Frostfire Ridge (Horde).
  2. Erect the Stables. Build the level 1 Stables in a large plot. This costs a small amount of Garrison Resources and gold.
  3. Talk to the stable master. Once construction is complete, approach the mentor inside the Stables and take the introductory quest for catching wild beasts.
  4. Catch a wild meadowstomper. Head to the indicated area in Nagrand, use the lasso you were given on a wild elekk, and hold it until the beast tires out. Once you've caught the animal, return to the stable master.
  5. Receive the training whistle. The mentor will give you a whistle that summons your meadowstomper-in-training. From this mount you'll be able to fight and complete combat quests.
  6. Complete the training series. Training quests become available in the Stables each day. The main quest for our mount is Elekk Training: The Garn: you need to find a garn named Maimclaw in Nagrand and defeat it while mounted on your meadowstomper-in-training.
  7. Claim the reward. After the victory, return to the stable master. You'll be handed the Trained Meadowstomper item and an additional 50 Garrison Resources.
  8. Learn the mount. Open your bag, activate the item — the mount will be added to your collection on all characters on the account.
  9. Continue the collection. Take the other five training quests in parallel — they unlock mounts of other types and count toward the Master of Mounts achievement.

Farm Optimization

  • Visit the Garrison daily. Training quests reset every game day, so a single visit per day gives maximum progress on all six mounts at once.
  • Do the training in a batch. Once you've caught all the beasts, you'll receive several quests per day at once — ride around Nagrand in a single loop.
  • Watch the whistle's buffs. The whistle summons a combat trainee, not a regular mount: don't dismount manually before killing the target, or the quest won't count.
  • Combine with other tasks. At the same time, close out Draenor treasures, rare mobs, and achievements — many of them are located in the same corners of Nagrand.
  • Don't demolish the Stables before the series is done. Until you get all six mounts and the achievement, the building is needed. After learning them, all mounts stay with you even if you demolish the building.
  • Use a level 90 character. At max level, Nagrand's elite mobs, including the quest target, die very quickly, and the entire chain wraps up in mere minutes a day.

Tips

1

Read the quest descriptions. Each beast is trained on a specific target: the meadowstomper is trained specifically on the garn, and only a victory over it will count progress.

2

Watch the trainee's health. If your meadowstomper-in-training dies, the whistle goes on cooldown — try to keep your distance and deal damage to the target quickly.

3

Bring a stockpile of Garrison Resources. The Stables and associated buildings consume resources — keep 500 units in reserve so you don't interrupt the cycle.

4

Check the mounts tab. After learning it, the elekk will appear in the ground mounts section of your collection — pin it to favorites for random summoning.

5

Don't forget about your alts. On the account, the mount is available to all classes and races suitable in size for an elekk, which is convenient for collectors who multibox.

6

Plan your trip in advance. If you've already finished the Warlords of Draenor campaign, leave a bind point at the Garrison — that way each day you'll start right at the Stables.
