Claws of Agony — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

"Claws of Agony" is an epic-quality (purple) fist weapon that entered World of Warcraft with the Cataclysm expansion. The model is an aggressive claw-gauntlet with curved blades and a dark, crimson-tinged coloring in the style of Deathwing's draconic experiments. The look fits well in melee-oriented sets and outfits built around a dark, "demonic" palette.
This is a one-handed fist weapon worn in both hands by classes with the matching profile — primarily rogues, shamans, druids, and monks. The item level is 44, but that is irrelevant for transmogrification: only the unlocked model in your appearance collection matters.
"Claws of Agony" are part of the two-piece Trappings of Agony set: the second fist claw —
Claws of Torment — uses the same model and perfectly completes the look when worn in both hands.
Source
"Claws of Agony" drop in the Blackwing Descent raid — a Cataclysm-era raid dungeon located in the Burning Steppes.
- The weapon drops from the raid's enemies as a random reward while clearing the instance.
- The drop chance is low, so several runs through the raid may be required.
- These days the raid can be soloed at max level with ease, so farming is limited by nothing but luck.
- There is effectively no limit on attempts, but keep the weekly raid reset in mind when farming bosses.
- The matching item
Claws of Torment drops from the same raid — both claws can be collected over a series of runs.
Who It Suits Visually
- It harmonizes with sets in dark-crimson and black tones — outfits in the spirit of draconic cults and Deathwing.
- It suits melee looks for rogues and monks, where paired claws look especially striking.
- It contrasts with light leather armor, adding a predatory, dangerous detail to the look.
- It works in "demonic" and combat sets that play up an aggressive aesthetic.
Tips
1
Collect both claws at once — "Claws of Agony" and "Claws of Torment" — so you can wear the same model in both hands.
2
At max level the raid is cleared solo, making quick weekly solo runs convenient.
3
Keep the weekly reset in mind: the raid bosses can be re-killed once per week, so plan your farming ahead.
4
If the appearance is slow to drop, keep entering the raid every week — there is no cooldown on the entrance itself.
5
Check the appearance collection window after the fight: if the model is already unlocked, further farming purely for the look is unnecessary.
6
Rogues and monks have the easiest time farming thanks to their high mobility and fast clear speed.
