Retribution Paladin Guide for Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1)
About the Spec
This is a melee fighter whose primary stat is Strength. In combat it wields two-handed weapons (axes, swords). The signature of this spec is the mechanic of building Holy Power to fuel abilities. Some abilities generate Holy Power, while others spend it to deal the most damage.
Strengths
- A large number of defensive abilities for both yourself and the group, for example
Blessing of Sacrifice,
Blessing of Protection. - The ability to reduce group-wide damage taken by 3% thanks to an aura.
- Full immunity to damage thanks to the ability
Divine Shield.
Weaknesses
- Damage depends on the rotation, since the core abilities require the Holy Power resource and it is very important to build/spend this resource in a timely manner.
- Low mobility.
- A simple and repetitive rotation, which may be boring for some players.

Leveling
Your core damage abilities are available at level one. Use
Blade of Justice and
Divine Storm.
As you level up, you will unlock new abilities. We recommend following the ability priority from the rotation section.
Useful Mythic+ Tips
Besides your interrupt ability, use
Hammer of Justice to stun/interrupt a single target and
Blinding Light for AoE interrupts.
Some slow/root effects can be removed with the ability
Blessing of Freedom. In many dungeons, enemies apply various damaging slows to you and your allies. Be sure to use this ability on yourself and your allies.
If a member of your group dies during combat and you urgently need to resurrect them, use
Intercession, to bring them back into the fight. Combat resurrections share a global cooldown of 10 minutes. Charges accumulate every 10 minutes, and the longer you stay in the dungeon, the more charges you will have. You can resurrect several allies at once if you have enough charges.
