Holy Paladin Guide for Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1)
About the Class
This is a healer whose primary stat is Intellect. In combat they use a one-handed sword and a shield (two-handed intellect weapon builds exist, but they are less popular due to the rarity of such weapons and the inability to use some abilities that require a shield). A signature feature of this healer is the mechanic of accumulating Holy Power to use abilities.
Strengths
- A large number of defensive abilities both for yourself and for the group, for example
Blessing of Sacrifice,
Blessing of Protection. - The ability to reduce group damage taken by 3% thanks to an aura.
- Full immunity to damage thanks to the ability
Divine Shield. - Excellent single-target/spread healing.
Weaknesses
- Healing depends on the rotation, since the main healing abilities require the Holy Power resource.
- Low mobility.
- You have to choose between dealing damage and healing.
Stat Priority
Talents
Rotation (Ability Priority)
Shield of the Righteous — never waste Holy Power — if you have 5 charges or are about to cap, spend it. If healing is not needed, remember you can always use this ability for damage and mana restoration
Divine Toll — on cooldown as often as possible
Dawnlight — right at the moment you take damage. Try to keep this off cooldown as often as possible
Infusion of Light — spend it with
Flash of Light when healing is needed, or with
Judgment for damage
Holy Shock — as often as possible
Eternal Flame — spend Holy Power on this ability for healing
Holy Light — when strong healing is needed and you can afford the cost
Judgment — as often as possible to maximize damage. If healing is needed, focus on other abilities instead
Flash of Light — when no other abilities are available and the situation does not call for
Holy Light
Best in Slot (BiS)
Don't forget to explore our class pages, where not only the best items in the slot are available, but also other alternatives for any class, spec or situation:
Enchants, Gems, Consumables
Leveling
The main abilities for restoring health will be available to you at the first level. Use
Holy Shock and
Flash of Light to restore health to yourself or party members.
As you level up you will gain new abilities. We recommend sticking to the ability priority from the rotation section.
Useful Tips for Mythic+ Keys
Since healers had their spell interrupt ability removed, use
Hammer of Justice to stun/interrupt a single target's spellcast and
Blinding Light for AoE interrupts.
Some slow/stop effects can be removed not by dispelling but with the
Blessing of Freedom ability. This lets you both help a party member and save your dispel for more important debuffs.
If a member of your group has died during combat and you urgently need to resurrect them, use
Intercession to bring them back into the fight. Combat resurrections have a global cooldown of 10 minutes. Charges accumulate every 10 minutes, and the longer you are in the dungeon, the more charges you will have. You can resurrect several allies at once if you have enough charges.
