Unholy Death Knight Guide for Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1)
About the Class
Unholy Death Knight (UDK) is a melee fighter who wields two-handed weapons (sword, axe) and uses various diseases and curses to deal damage. The class boasts excellent burst damage in both AoE and single-target combat.
Strengths
- Very strong burst damage.
- A simple rotation that lets you quickly grasp the class and put up good results.
- Good defensive abilities for both yourself and the group/raid.
Weaknesses
- A small number of abilities, which heavily limits the rotation. The class can feel boring for some players.
- Single-target damage is inconsistent and depends on the chosen talents, so it may not be the highest.
- Few abilities that affect crowd control of enemy groups.

Leveling
From the very first level you will already have abilities to deal damage. Your core abilities in the early levels will be
Outbreak,
Scourge Strike and
Death Strike. As you level up you will gain new abilities, getting closer to the core rotation. We recommend following the ability priority from the rotation section.
Mythic+ Tips
If your group has few classes capable of interrupting spells, or you plan to fight a large number of casting mobs, be sure to take the
Cold Wind talent. When you interrupt an ability, you gain 10 Runic Power and the cooldown of the ability is reduced by 3 seconds, allowing you to interrupt dangerous enemy spells more often.
Take the
Asphyxiate talent if your group has no or insufficient crowd control. With this ability you can stun a target for 5 seconds, preventing it from casting dangerous spells.
Try to use
Death Grip as often as possible on mobs that cast constantly and do not move from their spot. This ability will interrupt the cast and pull the pesky mob to you.
