About the Class

This is a ranged healer whose primary stat is Intellect. Discipline Priest is a unique healer who heals allies by dealing damage to enemies. Its mechanics are based on applying the Atonement effect, which converts part of the damage the priest deals into direct healing on all marked targets.

The defining feature of the specialization is its preemptive gameplay: the priest must prepare the group for incoming damage in advance by applying Atonement to the targets, and then use powerful offensive spells to restore their health.

Strengths

High burst HPS (healing per second) with proper preparation.
Good damage compared to other healers.
Powerful defensive abilities such as Power Word: Barrier and Pain Suppression.
Many utility abilities: Leap of Faith, Mass Dispel and Symbol of Hope.

Weaknesses

High skill floor: mistakes in preparation timing lead to a loss of effectiveness.
Poor mobility: most spells require standing still.
Limited emergency reactive healing without prior preparation.

Leveling Process

Use Power Word: Shield before the pull, apply Purge the Wicked and attack with Penance. You will heal from your own damage, which greatly simplifies leveling. A Discipline Priest can comfortably level without switching specialization.

Handy Tips for Mythic+ Keys

Pain Suppression can be used while stunned — save the tank or yourself.

Leap of Faith is a great way to rescue an ally from a dangerous zone.

Symbol of Hope — coordinate with other healers to restore mana and reduce the cooldowns of defensive abilities.
