Devastation Evoker Guide for Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1)
About the Spec
This is a ranged fighter (albeit with a limited range of 25 yards) whose primary stat is Intellect. The Evoker wears mail armor and wields the magic of the five dragonflight aspects in battle.
The defining feature of Devastation is the use of Empower spells, whose power scales with how long they are charged, along with a strong dependence of damage on the target's health thanks to Mastery.
Strengths
- Huge burst damage, especially at the start of a fight.
- Excellent mobility thanks to Hover, which lets you cast on the move.
- Useful group utility: Zephyr to reduce AoE damage and Source of Magic for allied healers.
- The unique Empower spell mechanic.
Weaknesses
- Short attack range compared to other casters.
- Very fragile when defensive abilities are on cooldown.
- Damage efficiency drops as the target's health decreases (due to the Mastery mechanic).
- A rotation mistake during Dragonrage severely punishes your DPS.

Leveling
Your main abilities while leveling will be
Living Flame and
Azure Strike.
Use
Hover to keep your distance from mobs. Open a fight with a fully charged
Fire Breath to quickly deal with a pack of enemies.
Useful Tips for Mythic+ Keys
Hover is your main survival tool. It not only lets you cast on the move, but also grants a dash.
Zephyr reduces AoE damage taken by the group by 20%. Use it ahead of predictable heavy boss hits.
Wing Buffet and
Tail Swipe work great as extra interrupts for mob casts.
Remember the 25-yard limit. You need to stand closer to the tank than other ranged DPS so you don't end up out of range of your spells.
