About the Spec

This is a ranged fighter whose primary stat is Intellect. The Shadow Priest is a master of dark and Void magic who uses the energy of the Void to shatter the minds of their foes.

A defining feature of the spec is managing the Insanity resource and maintaining periodic damage (DoT) effects on multiple targets. The gameplay revolves around entering Voidform to amplify your current damage.

Strengths

Powerful support abilities: Vampiric Embrace, Mass Dispel and Power Word: Fortitude.
Dispersion lets you ignore many deadly mechanics.
High burst single-target damage.

Weaknesses

Low mobility: most spells require standing still.
Long ramp-up time (you need to spread your DoT effects).
Reliant on correct positioning.

- Survival: Keep Power Word: Shield on yourself. In critical situations use Desperate Prayer.
- Finishing: Use Shadow Word: Death on low-health targets to quickly end the fight.

Mythic+ Tips

Mass Dispel — use it to remove powerful debuffs that normal dispels cannot handle.

Dispersion — your main defensive; press it to survive fatal mechanics.

Vampiric Embrace — turns your damage into group healing, invaluable during high raid damage.
