Ruby Life Pools — Mythic+ Dungeon Guide
Ruby Life Pools
This dungeon was added in the Dragonflight expansion and has returned to the Mythic+ rotation in the Midnight season. It is located on the Waking Shores, where the red dragonflight has guarded its clutches in warm ruby pools since time immemorial. Elemental flame and the servants of the Primalists have invaded the sanctuary, and players must now protect the dragon eggs and defeat three bosses lurking at the pools.
In this guide we cover all dungeon mechanics in detail and explain the nuances of fighting the bosses and elite enemies inside the dungeon.
Melidrussa Chillworn
(boss screenshot goes here)
Boss Abilities
-
Melidrussa unleashes a frost wave that deals Frost damage to the entire group and fires Explosive Hailstones at players, leaving exploding mines on the ground.
-
A Chillstorm appears near a player, and the Eye of the Storm pulls players toward its center. The storm periodically deals Frost damage, then explodes after several seconds, dealing damage and knocking back everyone nearby.
-
Melidrussa hurls an icy shard at the current target, dealing heavy Physical damage. This cast should be interrupted.
-
Melidrussa summons Charged Whelps to attack players with
Cold Claws. Upon reaching 20 stacks of the effect, the target is struck by Full Freeze. -
Melidrussa encases herself in an Ice Bastion shield. While the shield holds, she periodically deals Frost damage to the group and increases the damage dealt by this ability. The boss cannot be interrupted while the bastion is active.
Melidrussa Strategy
Tanks
Keep Melidrussa faced away from the group and interrupt
Frigid Shard whenever possible. Move the boss out of
Chillstorm and keep her close to the group for convenient control of the whelps.Healers
The main spikes of group damage come from
Hailburst,
Chillstorm, and
Frost Overload. Increase healing throughput during these moments and watch players accumulating
Cold Claws stacks.DPS
Stay out of the Explosive Hailstones and move away from
Chillstorm, grouping up when the Eye of the Storm activates. Quickly kill the Charged Whelps from
Awaken Whelps to avoid accumulating
Cold Claws stacks.
Kokia Flamebender

Boss Abilities
-
Upon reaching 100 Energy, Kokia summons a Raging Inferno near a player — an add that deals Fire damage to all enemies in the area. It should be destroyed.
-
The summoned Raging Inferno scorches players with fire. This cast must be interrupted.
-
Kokia hurls a molten boulder in front of her, knocking back any players it hits, rolling forward up to 40 yards, exploding, and leaving Scorched Ground behind. Move out of the boulder's path.
-
Kokia strikes the target with a rapid series of blows, dealing weapon damage and applying a stacking Burns debuff.
Kokia Strategy
Tanks
Position Kokia so that
Molten Boulder rolls away from the group, and save defensive cooldowns for
Searing Blows. Taunt-swap with your co-tank when Burns stacks become high.Healers
Monitor the tank's Burns stacks from
Searing Blows and increase healing while the group deals with the Raging Inferno.DPS
Destroy the Raging Inferno summoned by
Ritual of Blazebinding and interrupt its
Blaze Volley. Move out of
Molten Boulder's path and avoid standing in Scorched Ground.
Kyrakka and Erkhart Storvald

Boss Abilities
-
Kyrakka breathes fire in a cone in front of her, dealing heavy damage to targets caught in it. Move out of the directed breath.
-
Kyrakka spits a ball of flame that applies a periodic damage effect, and upon expiration it explodes, creating Smoldering Embers.
-
Erkhart delivers a powerful blow to a player, dealing Physical and Nature damage and increasing Nature damage taken. This effect stacks.
-
Erkhart unleashes a powerful burst, dealing Nature damage and interrupting players' spellcasting.
-
An add surrounds itself with an elemental shield. When the shield is removed, a Stormcloud Explosion triggers and the creature explodes.
-
A Thunderhead shocks players, applying a stacking periodic Nature damage effect and striking them with an Electrodischarge when it expires.
Kyrakka and Erkhart Strategy
Tanks
Keep both bosses together and positioned conveniently for the group. Save defensive cooldowns for
Stormslam and account for the growing Nature damage vulnerability.Healers
The heaviest damage comes from
Roaring Firebreath,
Inferno Spit, and
Rolling Thunder — increase healing during these moments and keep an eye on the tank's Nature vulnerability.DPS
Move out of the
Roaring Firebreath cone and away from Smoldering Embers, destroy the adds and break their
Stormcloud Barrier, and be ready to counter spell interrupts from
Interrupting Cloudburst.
Elite Enemies
In addition to the bosses, dangerous elite enemies await you as you advance through the ruby pools — servants of the Primalists and fire and ice elementals. Several of the most notable are covered below. Against these enemies, try to assign targets in advance, interrupt spells, use crowd-control abilities, and avoid engaging multiple groups at once.
Draghar the Negate

A large elite enemy that blocks the path deeper into the dungeon. He is tough and dangerous in melee, so engage him with defensive cooldowns ready and save personal cooldowns for this fight.
Primalist Galesword
A massive elite elemental golem with a large health pool and heavy area attacks. Keep him under control, move out of his attack lines, and prevent him from hitting multiple group members at once.
Primalist Earth Sentinel

A massive elite earth elemental guardian with a large health pool and heavy area attacks. Keep him under control, move out of his attack lines, and try to slow him while he is in motion.
Frostflurry Chillweaver

An elite caster who covers allies with frost shields and supports them. Interrupt his casts and destroy him as quickly as possible to keep the fight from dragging on.
