Restoration Shaman PvE Guide — Midnight
About the Class
This is a healer whose primary stat is Intellect. This shaman channels the power of water and life to restore allies' health. They wield a one-handed weapon (mace or dagger) and a shield, making them one of the most durable healers in the game.
The defining feature of the specialization is the
Mastery: Deep Healing mechanic. Your healing effectiveness is directly tied to how little health the target has left — the lower an ally's HP, the stronger your spells.
Tidal Waves is a passive effect you gain after using
Riptide. It reduces the cast time of
Healing Surge or increases the critical healing chance of
Healing Wave.
Healing Stream Totem and
Cloudburst Totem are your main tools for passive and accumulated healing. Skillful use of
Cloudburst Totem lets you "store" your healing and release it the moment the group takes heavy damage.
Strengths
- A huge arsenal of useful utility (
Wind Shear,
Condensation Totem,
Earthgrab Totem). - Powerful cooldowns for saving the raid (
Spirit Link Totem). - Efficient healing of tightly packed groups through
Chain Heal. - Very strong in critical situations thanks to Mastery.
Weaknesses
- Healing on the move is limited (you need to stand still to cast).
- No external defensive cooldowns for the tank (aside from Spirit Link Totem).
- Effectiveness drops when the group is heavily spread out.

Mythic+ Tips
Spiritwalker's Grace — lets you cast spells while moving. Use it during phases of heavy movement.
Spirit Link Totem — ignores healing reduction effects, since it redistributes current health.
You are the only healer who can interrupt casts (
Wind Shear). Help your group!
