Den of Nalorakk — Mythic+ Dungeon Guide

This dungeon was added in the Midnight expansion. It is the lair of Nalorakk, loa of war — snow-covered halls filled with wild beasts and troll spirits. Players must fight their way through the den and defeat three bosses that guard it.

In this guide we cover all dungeon mechanics in detail and explain the nuances of fighting the bosses and elite enemies found inside.

Boss Abilities

• Spoiled Supplies

  Hoardmonger scatters spoiled supplies across the battlefield, from which rotting mushrooms gradually grow.

• Toxic Spores

  Stepping on a rotting mushroom destroys it but covers the player in toxic spores, preventing the mushroom from exploding.

• Putrid Burst

  If a mushroom is not destroyed in time, it explodes and deals damage to nearby players.

• Resourceful Measures

  At certain health thresholds Hoardmonger draws on his stockpile and empowers one of his abilities.

• Earthshatter Slam

  A powerful ground slam that deals area damage.

• Ravenous Bellow

  Hoardmonger lets out a ravenous bellow that affects the group.

• Bonespiked

  A bone-spike attack that deals damage to the targeted player.

Combat Strategy

• Tanks

  Hold the boss and keep in mind that at health thresholds he empowers his abilities via Resourceful Measures. Save defensive cooldowns for Earthshatter Slam and Bonespiked.

• Healers

  Group damage increases as the boss empowers himself; monitor players affected by Toxic Spores and ramp up healing after each Resourceful Measures.

• DPS

  Step on the rotting mushrooms spawned by Spoiled Supplies to destroy them and prevent Putrid Burst, but be ready to receive Toxic Spores.

Boss Abilities

• Echoing Maul

  Nalorakk unleashes a series of crushing blows on the main target and increases the damage that target takes from his subsequent onslaught.

• Echoing Fury

  Nalorakk marks players and sends his echoes toward them, dealing damage to anyone near the marked target.

• Overwhelming Onslaught

  A swift charge that deals heavy damage.

• Forceful Roar

  A deafening roar that affects the group.

• Concussive Shock

  A strike that stuns the target.

• Fury of the War God

  Nalorakk enters a war-god fury, empowering his attacks.

Combat Strategy

• Tanks

  Save defensive cooldowns for Echoing Maul and keep in mind that it increases the damage you take from Overwhelming Onslaught.

• Healers

  Peak damage occurs during Echoing Maul and Echoing Fury — ramp up healing during those moments.

• DPS

  During Echoing Fury spread out so the echoes do not hit allies, and avoid being caught by Overwhelming Onslaught.

Boss Abilities

• Raging Squall

  The Sentinel conjures icy squalls that move across the battlefield and deal damage to players caught in their path.

• Glacial Torment

  The Sentinel assails players with cold, dealing periodic frost damage.

• Frozen Tempest

  A powerful frost spell that engulfs the entire arena.

• Snowdrift

  Patches of deep snow appear on the ground, slowing movement.

• Shattering Frostspike

  The Sentinel hurls a shattering frostspike at a target.

• Winter's Shroud

  The Sentinel wraps herself in Winter's Shroud.

Combat Strategy

• Tanks

  Hold the boss and steer her away from the wandering icy squalls to make it easier for the group to avoid them.

• Healers

  The group takes sustained frost damage; ramp up healing during Glacial Torment and Frozen Tempest.

• DPS

  Dodge the wandering Raging Squall squalls, step out of Shattering Frostspike, and account for the movement slow from Snowdrift.

Beyond the bosses, elite beasts and guardian spirits await you as you advance through the den. Several of the most notable are covered below. When engaging these enemies, assign kill targets in advance, interrupt spells, use crowd-control abilities, and avoid pulling multiple groups at once.

Territorial Matriarch

An elite bear that ferociously defends her territory. She uses Demoralizing Roar to affect the group and is dangerous in melee range. Keep her faced away from the group and use defensive cooldowns during the roar.

Merciless Totem Caster

An elite caster who places a Magma Totem and supports other enemies. Destroy its totems as quickly as possible, interrupt its spells, and keep it crowd-controlled.

Frostfang

An elite frost beast. It senses Bloodrush and applies Frostbite to players. Keep it controlled and do not let it freely leap onto weakened group members.
