Decorator's Duel is a new PvP mode for 14 players. Instead of standard PvP, players split into two teams and play hide-and-seek within a dedicated location. The team that hides or seeks more effectively wins the match.
You can sign up the same way you would for any other PvP event. Open the group finder menu (I) and switch to the PvP tab. Under Quick Matches you will see the Decorator's Duel mode.

When signing up you can pick any role or every role available to your class, as it has no impact inside the activity itself.
If your class has a healing specialization, we recommend selecting that role during registration as well. It noticeably speeds up queue times.
A match is played by 14 players who are split into 2 teams at random. One team hides while the other seeks. After the round ends, the teams swap sides.
A match consists of 2 rounds, each lasting 3 minutes. There is also a 1-minute preparation window for the hiding team to pick their form and take up a convenient spot.
At the end of a round, every player who is found gives the seekers 1 point, while every player who stays hidden earns the hiders 1 point. The winner is decided by the total score across both rounds. If the scores are tied, the winner is determined by how long each team managed to stay hidden. For example, you were found after 2 minutes of searching while your teammates were found after 1 minute. In total, you stayed hidden for 8 minutes. If the opposing team's total hiding time is greater, they win.
The hiding team is transformed into a random piece of decor and blends into the surrounding props to look as natural as possible. From time to time you will whistle, which lets seekers figure out which area a hider is in and try to track them down. Also, if you stay motionless in one spot for too long, flies will start to swarm around you and become visible to seekers. Flies only gather around decor that is actually a player, so seekers will immediately know there is a player in front of them.
Your goal is to avoid being detected by the seekers for as long as possible, and for that you have 6 different abilities:
Disguise - the ability lets you change your appearance into a different piece of decor.
Swap - swaps you and a random piece of decor within 18 yd.
Trap - at the start of the round you can pick a trap. This ability places a trap for the seekers. Four traps are available in total:
Trap: Songbird - you place a decoy songbird that whistles periodically, passing itself off as a player.
Trap: Sands of Time - you create a zone that slows other players' movement and applies a debuff that slows the flow of time on them.
Trap: Void Orb - you place an orb that can launch you 30 yd. forward and push a seeker 20 yd. back.
Trap: Smoke Screen - the trap sends out several decor decoys that scatter in different directions and changes your appearance into a different piece of decor.
Eccentromagical Pulse - stuns nearby seekers and changes your appearance.
Create Decoy - you can create a decoy that takes on your appearance.
While hiding you can move around and change your appearance freely. The key is to avoid being spotted and caught.
The seekers' job is to spot suspicious pieces of decor using various abilities and apply Tag! to them so the player is eliminated from the match.
At the start of the round, seekers can pick one of three roles, each with its own set of special abilities:
Arcane Tracker
Antimagic Arrow - dispels illusions in an area, revealing those who cast them.
Mechanical Sentinel - for 30 sec. places a sentinel that detects targets within its area of effect and slows them.
Stealth - you become invisible, but your movement speed is reduced by 30%.
Disruptor
Dispel Magic - dispels illusions in front of you and marks the players you uncover.
Neutralization Field - dispels illusions in an area, revealing hidden players.
Rift Travel - teleports you a short distance.
Spellbreaker
Dispel Specialization - dispels illusions in front of you over 2.5 sec., revealing hidden players.
Dispelling Leap - performs a leap, dispelling the illusions of hidden players in an area around the landing spot.
For participating you will earn a special currency - Illusory Coin. The better you and your team perform across both rounds, the more currency you can earn.
Illusory Coins can be exchanged for a variety of rewards from the NPC Gamesmaster Fleurian in Moonglade.

You can pick up the unique mount Honeycomb of the Magister's Wise Bee for 500 Illusory Coins, along with a wide range of toys, pets, decor, and weapon transmogrification.
