Fishing

Fishing is one of the secondary professions that you can learn alongside two primary professions. It allows you to catch fish in various bodies of water in Kaz Algar, which you can either sell to other players at the auction house or use in other professions — for example, in Cooking.

The main catches will be fish such as Bloody Perch, Dilly-Dally Dace, Goldengill Trout, Nibbling Minnow, Specular Rainbowfish, Whispering Stargazer, Sanguine Dogfish, Awakened Coelacanth, and Cursed Ghoulfish.

Where to Learn Fishing?

You can learn Fishing from the special NPC Drokar in Dornogal.

How Does Fishing Work?

To start fishing, you just need to approach any body of water in Kaz Algar and cast your line by clicking the special button in the profession window. When the float starts to move, click on it to get your catch.

You can move this button to the action bar for convenience.

After the float moves, you have a couple of seconds to reel in the fish. If you do it too early or too late, you won’t get anything.

How to Level Up Fishing?

Fishing levels up while you are fishing. Each successful catch increases your skill level by +1 without any limits. You can catch the simplest fish in the nearest body of water and level up the profession to the maximum level.

The higher your skill level, the rarer the fish you can catch while fishing.

Also, while fishing, you may get a special item Damp Page from a Journal, which instantly grants you +10 skill levels.

Where to Fish?

You can fish in any nearby body of water, but you will only be able to catch common fish regardless of your skill level.

There are 9 different ponds in the game where you can catch special fish. These ponds appear in bodies of water in specific locations. Depending on the pond, it may appear in the waters of one location or several.

You can always spot a pond on your minimap.

To make ponds appear on your minimap, you will need to purchase the Fishing Guide. It is sold by any NPC who sells fishing supplies. It’s a good idea to buy the guide when you learn the profession, as next to the NPC teaching you the profession is the NPC Hinodin, who can sell you both your first fishing rod and the necessary guide.

Special Fishing Zones

While fishing, you will come across special zones where the catch differs from regular waters. You will notice them right away because they stand out clearly against the background of the water body. These are large circular areas where various fish swim.

Treasure from the Shore

On the water surface, you will see debris and boxes. Casting your line into this zone gives you a higher chance of getting the item Damp Page from a Journal. No rare fish can be caught in this zone.

You can find this area on Dorn Island.

Royal Ripples

You can find this zone in the locations Hallowfall and Az’Kahret.

In this zone, you can catch:

Current with Angler Catchers

This zone is located in the areas The Ringing Deeps and Hallowfall.

In this zone, you can catch:

Swarm of Starseekers

This zone appears in the location Dorn Island.

In this zone, you can catch:

Corrupt Sludge Pool

This zone is located on Dorn Island.

In this zone, you can catch:

Pustulent Pus Patch

Bloodfin Shoal

Shimmering Pool

This zone appears in all locations, and the catch does not depend on the location where you find it.

In this zone, you can catch:

Quiet Ripples

You can find this zone in any location of the expansion.

In this zone, you can catch:

Trickgear Runoff

This zone can appear in all locations of Kaz Algar.

The unique catch of this zone is the Golden Fish, which you can exchange with Blair the Big Fish for various fishing toys.

Attributes and Gear

Unlike other professions, Fishing has only one attribute — Perception. This attribute increases your chances of catching rare fish or items while fishing, so the higher this attribute, the more effective your fishing will be. You can boost it with special items and potions.

Fishing Rods

For effective fishing, you will need fishing rods, which you can obtain either through the auction house or via the order board. You will have access to two rods:

Fisherman’s Hats

Besides rods, fishermen can wear a special hat:

Buffs

Fishermen can apply a special enchantment to their fishing rod — Algari Braided Line, which grants the rod a special property. While fishing, you will obtain various threads; each use of a thread will grant your rod +1 Perception. In total, you can gain an additional +100 Perception.
