Lobstmourne is a one-handed fist weapon added to World of Warcraft in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. It is a joke nod to Frostmourne: instead of Arthas's legendary blade, you get a giant crab claw mounted on a hilt. The model is made with humor in mind — the massive red-orange claw looks both ridiculous and menacing at the same time, and it is precisely because of this that collectors of unusual transmog prize the item so highly.
For transmogrification, only the appearance matters, not the stats: the item level here is 86, and it has long been useless in combat. Fist weapons can be worn by rogues, monks, shamans, and demon hunters, so it is to these specializations that the claw is available as an appearance.
Lobstmourne cannot simply be looted from an ordinary boss. It is a secret item, and the path to it is a small puzzle quest spread across all of Pandaria, without a single entry in the quest log.
First you need to collect six clamshells from rare makrura mobs scattered across different zones. For example,
Clamstok's Clamshell drops from Clamstok in the Dread Wastes with a chance of about 96%. The other five clamshells belong to Accel, Accelar, Damlak, Kishak, and Odd'nirok — each must be found and killed in its own zone (the Jade Forest, the Krasarang Wilds, Kun-Lai Summit, and the Townlong Steppes).
Once all six clamshells are in your bags, they can be combined into the
Clamshell Band. This item summons the final opponent.
Using the band summons the level 35 elite Clawlord Kril'mandar in the southwest of the Krasarang Wilds zone, right by the coast at roughly the point /way #6134 12.4 81.4. After the kill, Lobstmourne drops almost guaranteed — the stated drop chance is around 95%, so a single victory is usually enough.
All six makrura mobs are rare and do not appear immediately, so set aside time to wait for respawns at each point.
At the modern level cap, both the makrura themselves and Clawlord Kril'mandar can be killed in a couple of hits by any class, so there is no need to fear the elite status.
The clamshells bind to your character on pickup, so you will have to collect the set with the same hero who goes after the final drop.
The Clamshell Band is unique and is consumed when summoning — if you plan to repeat the farm on an alt, the entire set of clamshells must be collected again.
It is most convenient to farm on a class with fast travel and good mobility — the clamshells are scattered across several zones of Pandaria, and the lion's share of the time is spent on the road.
After killing Kril'mandar, grab the drop right away: the fist weapon falls almost always, but with bad luck the summon will have to be repeated from scratch.
