Vengeful Netherspike — Transmog Set Guide

Overview

Vengeful Netherspike is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in Patch 11.2 "Ghosts of K’aresh" of the The War Within expansion. It is a raid weapon from the season's final raid: its stats provide Agility, Stamina, Critical Strike, and Mastery, so the dagger works in combat for rogues of every specialization and for the Augmentation evoker.

Visually it is a thin black blade forged from voidglass: a chain of cold purple runic lights runs along the spine, and the angular guard looks assembled from the same shards. The model belongs to the K’aresh weapon series — the ethereal "shard" style that Blizzard introduced alongside the ruined world of the ethereals.

The name contains the word "Vengeful," but that is part of the item's own name, not a seasonal gladiator epithet. The dagger has nothing to do with PvP, so the rule about swapping gladiator epithets does not apply here — on Wowhead the item is simply called Vengeful Netherspike.

Source

The dagger drops from Nexus-King Salhadaar — the seventh boss of the Manaforge Omega raid. It is not a PvP reward and not a crafted item: the only way to get Vengeful Netherspike is to kill the Nexus-King and win the roll on the loot.

Where the Raid Is Located

Manaforge Omega is located on the ruined world of K’aresh — it is the final raid of The War Within, opened in Patch 11.2. The raid requires a max-level character and is split into eight bosses and three wings. Nexus-King Salhadaar stands second to last: only the final boss follows him — Dimensius, the devourer of worlds, whose stopping the entire raid was launched for.

If you are collecting the dagger for transmog, the most convenient route is through the Raid Finder. The Nexus-King belongs to the third Raid Finder wing, which gives access to the last two bosses at once — you do not need to clear the first two wings again.

Difficulties and Chance

The dagger drops on all raid difficulties — from Raid Finder to Mythic; only the item level of the loot changes, while the appearance stays the same across all difficulties.

The drop chance of Vengeful Netherspike from the Nexus-King is about 17% per kill. For a raid weapon with a unique model, that is a generous rate: most players finish the appearance in a few runs, provided there is no competition for the dagger among other Agility users.

Solo and Group

While the season is current, the Raid Finder is completed in a random group and requires no preparation — the system assembles 25 people on its own. Heroic and Mythic modes remain group content: the Nexus-King has a phase on a flying mount and a phase with mandatory spreading by markers, which you cannot pull off solo.

For farming transmog, the optimal mode is the Raid Finder: it is the fastest and does not require your own group. Personal loot on the boss is bound to the character and resets once a week along with the general raid reset.

Alternatives / Recolors

Vengeful Netherspike has no color variants in the usual sense, but the same raid contains a dagger with a fully identical 3D model. If the blade does not drop specifically from the Nexus-King, a second dagger unlocks the same appearance in your wardrobe.

Dagger Source Wowhead
Vengeful Netherspike Nexus-King Salhadaar, 7th boss of the Manaforge Omega raid item=237740
Voidglass Kris Fractillus, 6th boss of the Manaforge Omega raid item=237728

Voidglass Kris shares the very same weapon model with Vengeful Netherspike — meaning both daggers unlock the same appearance in the wardrobe. It is a useful backup option: Fractillus stands one step before the Nexus-King, and you pass by it anyway while clearing the raid. The drop chance of the Voidglass Kris, however, is noticeably lower — about 2% per kill, since Fractillus has a large loot table.

The Voidglass Kris belongs to the reward set Shards of the Void — a four-piece set from the Manaforge Omega raid. Vengeful Netherspike itself is not part of this set: it reuses the series' graphics but counts as a separate item without set bonuses.

Who It Suits Visually

  • With the "shadow" and "void" armor sets of the latest The War Within patches — the dagger's black-and-purple palette matches the color scheme of K’aresh ethereal gear.
  • With rogue sets based on dark leather with metal accents: the cold runes on the blade give a pinpoint accent at the belt without overloading the silhouette.
  • With a Shadow priest look — the blade's purple glow echoes the spell effects of that specialization.
  • With an Augmentation evoker set — the dagger supports the "ethereal-cosmic" theme of bronze and void dragons.
  • With looks built around the ruined world of K’aresh and its ethereals — it is the most direct way to underline the "shards of the Void" theme with a single weapon.

Tips

1

Go for the dagger through the Raid Finder if you only need the transmog. The appearance is identical on all difficulties, and higher modes only give a higher item level.

2

Head straight into the third Raid Finder wing. It opens Nexus-King Salhadaar and the final boss, skipping the bosses of the first two wings.

3

Don't skip Fractillus. If the dagger does not drop from the Nexus-King for several weeks in a row, the exact same appearance is unlocked by the inv_knife_1h_etherealraid_d_02Voidglass Kris from the sixth boss.

4

On a rogue and an Augmentation evoker the dagger is useful not only for the wardrobe but also in combat during the first weeks of the season — its stats match the needs of those specializations.

5

Loot on the Nexus-King is bound to the character and resets once a week. Re-entering the Raid Finder by switching difficulty is pointless — the limit is shared across all modes.

6

If you are farming the dagger on several characters, keep your alts at max level and run each one through the Raid Finder once a week. With about a 17% chance, three or four characters finish the appearance in one or two raid resets.

7

When the raid stops being current and becomes available for solo clearing, Vengeful Netherspike will remain one of the most convenient targets for dagger collectors — the K’aresh-series model appears nowhere else.
