Magister's Ritual Knife — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Magister's Ritual Knife is an epic-quality one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with the Midnight expansion. It is a crafted Blacksmithing weapon styled after the signature look of the Silvermoon magisters: a curved blade with dark engraving and a hilt adorned with sin'dorei metalwork. The item icon shows a slender ritual blade with gold trim.
The dagger belongs to the family of crafted magister blades: it shares a common visual theme with the rest of the series and suits dagger-wielding specializations — rogues, druids, warlocks, priests, shamans and mages. The base item level is 246; the finished weapon requires level 90 and binds to your character when acquired.
The knife's true value is its appearance. The deep crimson palette and elven engraving make it an easy fit for sets in the Silvermoon and Sunfury aesthetic, and its availability through a profession means the look can be obtained without raid loot.
Source
Magister's Ritual Knife is a crafted weapon, made by a character with the Khaz Algar Blacksmithing profession. The weapon itself is never sold: vendors only sell the design, and the knife is forged at an anvil.
Design.
Design: Magister's Ritual Knife is sold in Silvermoon City by two vendors — Eriden and Lirendel. The design costs 150 units of the "Artisan's Acuity" currency, earned by completing Blacksmithing quests and work orders in Midnight. The design teaches the recipe and binds to your character when acquired.
Reagents. Crafting the knife requires:
Tortured Tantalum — x1
Dazzling Thorium — x2
Twilight Alloy — x7
Ironclaw Alloy — x7
Silvermoon Weapon Wrapping — x1- A Spark of the appropriate tier — x2
The crafting tool is a blacksmith hammer. The alloys are smelted from Midnight ore, while tantalum and thorium are gathered with Mining, so the easiest way is to collect the materials with a "Blacksmithing + Mining" pair or buy any missing pieces from the auction house. The finished knife binds to your character, but after crafting the appearance unlocks into your account-wide appearance collection.
Alternatives
The knife has no known color variants, but it is part of the series of crafted Silvermoon magister blades — all of them are sold as designs by the same vendors and built in a single visual style. If you need a similar silhouette for another weapon type, take a look at the related items in the series.
| Item | Weapon Type | Wowhead |
|---|---|---|
| Mana-Infused Magister's Sword | One-Handed Sword | |
| Magister's Cleaver | One-Handed Axe | |
| Blood Knight's War Sword | Two-Handed Sword | |
| Farstrider's Mercy | Dagger |
Farstrider's Mercy is a matching crafted dagger from the same series: a similar model but in a lighter palette. The two daggers pair well for dual-wielding specializations.
Who It Suits Visually
- Harmonizes with sets in the Silvermoon and high elf aesthetic — the crimson trim echoes the armor of the Midnight campaign.
- Complements dark "ritual" and demonic looks — the model fits warlock and shadow priest transmogs.
- Matches a gold-and-red color scheme — works with sets that have warm metallic trim.
- Pairs with the Farstrider's Mercy dagger for dual-wield specializations — a unified magister-series style.
- Contrasts with light cloth armor — the slender dark blade gives a striking accent.
Tips
1
The design is bought with "Artisan's Acuity" — stockpile the currency ahead of time by doing Blacksmithing work orders and quests in the Midnight zones.
2
Eriden and Lirendel are convenient to visit together: both are in Silvermoon City and sell the magister-series designs.
3
The appearance unlocks account-wide, so you only need to craft the knife once with any blacksmith character.
4
The priciest reagent is the Midnight alloys, so the "Blacksmithing + Mining" profession pairing noticeably cuts crafting costs.
5
If you want a same-style dual blade, grab the Farstrider's Mercy dagger design as well — it is sold by the same vendors.
6
The finished weapon is soulbound, but that does not hinder transmog: after crafting, the look is available to all of your dagger-wielding characters.
7
The required Spark is granted along the profession story line — make sure you have enough before you start crafting.
