Armored Blue Dragonhawk
Overview

Armored Blue Dragonhawk is a flying mount, exclusive to the Alliance and granted for the Mount Parade achievement. It is a blue-steel-clad version of the regular dragonhawk with an ornate caparison and armor on its neck, legs, and tail. The model was added in the Mists of Pandaria expansion as a reward for mount collectors and remains relevant today.
The mount flies at the speed of your riding skill, binds when obtained, and becomes available to all Alliance characters on the account immediately after the achievement is completed. The Horde equivalent is the Armored Red Dragonhawk.
Why you want this mount
- A collector's symbol. The dragonhawk tells everyone around you outright: you have already gathered 200 different mounts. This is a notable milestone in a collection and a reason to be proud.
- Progress toward the next rewards. The road to 200 mounts automatically brings you closer to the achievements and further milestones at 300, 400, and 500 mounts.
- Faction uniqueness. On the Alliance, the blue dragonhawk is ridden only by players who reached 200 mounts the honest way — transferring it via a faction change is impossible, and the model stays bound to the faction in which it was originally obtained.
- Aesthetics. The blue armor looks great alongside the crests of Stormwind and suits the transmogs of Paladins, Death Knights, and Kirin Tor Mages.
Requirements and how to get it
To obtain the
Armored Blue Dragonhawk, you need:
- Faction: Alliance. On Horde characters, the achievement grants the red version of the mount.
- Achievement: Mount Parade — collect 200 mounts available to a single character.
- Riding skill: any (Apprentice and above). The mount's flight speed equals your current skill.
- Character level: technically none, but to quickly gather 200 mounts it is more convenient to have a level 80 character with unlocked expansions.
- Subscription: an active Retail subscription. The mount is not available in Classic modes.
After the achievement is earned, the mount automatically arrives in the in-game mail from the Alliance Quartermasters and is added to the collection right after you first use the scroll.
Step-by-step guide
Step 1. Assess your current collection
Open the collections panel (default hotkey Shift+P) and go to the «Mounts» tab. The number of collected mounts is shown in the upper-left corner. Count how many you still lack to reach 200. Keep in mind: only mounts that can be summoned on the current character count.
Step 2. Gather the «free» mounts from quests
A quick foundation for the collection is story and daily rewards:
- Starting racial mounts and cross-racial ones earned through reputation (Exodar, Darnassus, Stormwind, Ironforge).
- Mounts from the «Explorer» achievements (gradual exploration of the continents).
- Rewards from the story campaigns of The War Within, Dragonflight, Shadowlands, Battle for Azeroth, and Legion.
Step 3. Farm reputation with factions
Faction quartermasters often sell mounts for Exalted reputation: Cenarion Expedition, The Sons of Hodir, Therazane, The Sha'tari Skyguard, the Valarjar, and others. In The War Within in 2026, accelerated reputation gain is available through weekly quests from Councilor Vandros.
Step 4. Solo the old raids and dungeons
At level 90 you can solo-clear content up to Legion. Drop in weekly on:
- Onyxia
- Karazhan
- The Cache of the Conquerors in Ulduar
- The Firelands
Step 5. Take up several professions with mounts
Engineers make the Mechano-hog, the Mechanocat, and the X-53 rocket. Alchemists make the Vial of the Sands foal. These mounts bind to the character and are not counted for others, but they nicely fill out the collection on a single hero.
Step 6. Use holiday events
Throughout the year, needed mounts are granted for holidays:
- Love is in the Air —
X-45 Heartbreaker. - Brewfest —
Great Brewfest Kodo. - Hallow's End —
The Horseman's Reins from the Headless Horseman. - Argent Tournament — dozens of mounts for badges of honor.
Step 7. Close out the last 10–20 mounts with purchases and PvP
Vendors in Stormwind and Orgrimmar (per faction) sell the Stormwind Steed and similar models. PvP seasons grant the Vicious Silver War Horse for a certain number of wins. This is a quick way to add the final entries.
Step 8. Get the mount
As soon as the counter reaches 200, the achievement closes automatically. Within a few minutes, a letter from the Alliance Quartermasters with the
Armored Blue Dragonhawk item arrives in the in-game mail. Take it, use it — and the mount unlocks forever across all Alliance collections on the account.
Optimizing the farm
- Play on a single character. The achievement counts mounts available to a specific hero. If you have profession mounts or reputation rewards on different characters, move the collecting over to your main.
- Use the raids' weekly cooldown. Raids with mounts are weekly loot. Build a rotation of 6–8 old raids and run them once a week.
- Close out the continent Explorer. The «Explorer of the Eastern Kingdoms», «Explorer of Kalimdor», and similar achievements grant mounts to a single character and suit all classes.
Tips
1
If you recently changed faction from Horde to Alliance and already have the red dragonhawk, the blue one still will not be granted to you again — one achievement is counted per account.
2
The mount is shown in the collection as flying, but it is summoned just fine on the ground in cities where flying is forbidden — it simply will not take off.
3
When playing in a group, show off the mount in the capitals: it often becomes a reason for newcomers to ask questions and for tips on collecting.
