Overview

Anu'relos, Flame's Guidance

Reins of Anu'relos, Flame's Guidance is an exclusive flying mount in the shape of a fiery owl, added to World of Warcraft in patch 10.2.0 "Guardians of the Dream." The mount depicts a massive owl with blazing plumage woven from the flame of the Primalists. Despite the destructive potential of the fire, its feathers radiate only a pleasant warmth and cause the rider no harm. It is one of the most prestigious mounts in the modern game — a symbol of defeating Fyrakk the Blazing on Mythic difficulty.

Originally the mount was guaranteed to drop for two players in the raid group while the Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope raid was current. With the launch of The War Within, the drop chance was drastically reduced to roughly 1%, turning Anu'relos into one of the rarest collectible rewards, on par with the legendary mounts of past expansions.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Unique model — the only owl mount of its kind in the game (aside from a shadow recolor). The fiery feathers shimmer constantly and leave a smoky trail in flight
  • Full-fledged flying mount — supports both regular flight and dynamic flight, available in all zones where flying is allowed
  • Ride Along support — you can carry passengers on Anu'relos's back, which is especially handy for flying together with friends and your guild
  • Bonus rewards — when you learn the Reins of Anu'relos, your account also receives a Blazing Owl Feather and a Coal of Companionship. The feather unlocks the owl flight form for all druids on the account, while the Coal lets hunters tame the rare beast Nah'qi with the same fiery model
  • Prestige and rarity — after the drop chance was nerfed to 1%, the mount became a marker of an experienced raider. The real number of owners in the current season is minimal
  • Account-wide — once obtained by at least one character, the mount unlocks for all characters on your account

How to Obtain

The only path to the mount is killing Fyrakk the Blazing on Mythic difficulty in the Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope raid. Heroic, Normal and Raid Finder difficulties do not award the mount.

  1. Gather a raid group of 20 players geared well enough for the Mythic raid. At level 80 the raid is considered outdated, so assembling a group is easier, but Fyrakk still demands coordinated play
  2. Find the raid entrance in the northwestern part of the Emerald Dream, by the Wellspring of Life (coordinates roughly 27.7, 31.2)
  3. Clear all eight preceding bosses: Gnarlroot, Igira the Cruel, Volcoross, Council of Dreams: Urctos, Aerwynn, Pip; Larodar, Keeper of the Flame; Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle; Smolderon; Tindral Sageswift, Seer of the Flame
  4. Defeat Fyrakk the Blazing on Mythic difficulty — this is the final, ninth boss of the raid
  5. Receive the Reins of Anu'relos, Flame's Guidance with a chance of roughly 1% per kill
  6. Use the item to learn the mount's summoning spell and automatically receive the bonus Blazing Owl Feather and Coal of Companionship

Evolution of the Drop Chance

The mount's drop chance changed depending on the state of the raid. Understanding these stages is important for assessing the real prospects of farming.

Period Difficulty Drop Chance
Dragonflight 10.2 (current season) Mythic 100%, two mounts per kill
Dragonflight 10.2.5–10.2.7 Mythic 100%, two mounts per kill
The War Within 11.0+ Mythic ≈1% per raid participant
Current patch (TWW 11.1) Mythic ≈1% per raid participant

In other words, before TWW released, any team that killed Fyrakk on Mythic was guaranteed two mounts to distribute. After TWW launched, Blizzard turned the mount into personal loot with an independent low chance in order to preserve its prestige as a relic of the Dragonflight era.

Additional Rewards on Learning

Learning the Reins of Anu'relos grants two bonus account items at once. They are received by any player, not necessarily a druid or hunter.

Blazing Owl Feather

The Blazing Owl Feather unlocks a unique flight form for druids with the appearance of Anu'relos. All druids on your account will be able to transform into a fiery owl while flying. The cosmetic is applied through the customization system in the flight form window.

Coal of Companionship

The Coal of Companionship is a consumable for hunters.

Fyrakk Fight Tactics on Mythic Difficulty

Fyrakk the Blazing is the final boss of the raid and one of the most challenging fights of late Dragonflight. The fight consists of three phases plus a transition phase.

Phase 1

  • The boss stands on a platform by the Roots of Amirdrassil. All mechanics and fire patches must be dropped at the edge of the platform — fire hitting the roots of Amirdrassil damages them and wipes the fight
  • Tanks swap on stacks from auto-attacks with Burning damage
  • Ranged and healers spread out for the Flamefall mechanic
  • The goal of this phase is to bring the boss's health down to 65%

Intermission Phase

  • Players teleport to separate platforms to battle Fyrakk's shadow
  • You need to collect Emerald Dream orbs to restore the health of the enemy boss
  • Once the phase ends, the group returns to the main platform

Phases 2 and 3

  • The boss gains access to Light and Shadow — extra damage-splitting mechanics are added
  • In the third phase, a mechanic of firing at Fyrakk from special cannons appears
  • Heavy damage and perfect raid coordination are mandatory

For detailed tactics, use guides and videos for the fight — at level 80 with gear above 620 item level the raid can be cleared by 5–10 "veteran" players, but a full wipe is possible without knowing the mechanics.

Farming Optimization After TWW

Weekly Loot Lock

Each character can kill Fyrakk on Mythic difficulty once per week with a chance at the mount. The loot lock resets on Wednesday in Europe and on Tuesday in North America.

  1. Prepare as many level 80 characters as possible with gear that allows them to survive Mythic Amirdrassil
  2. Run Fyrakk on every character each week
  3. Use the group loot mechanic: the more characters in the group, the more independent attempts

Solo or Small-Group Farming

At level 80 with current-season gear, Mythic Fyrakk can be cleared solo or as a duo by experienced players of certain classes. This significantly speeds up the rotation.

  • Tanks with high self-healing (Protection, Brewmaster Monk) often manage solo
  • Healers with high damage (Restoration Druid, Preservation Evoker) can clear the fight as a duo with a tank
  • When farming solo, be sure to learn all mechanics — skipping the Roots of Amirdrassil mechanic wipes even a solo fighter

Premade Groups

If solo farming isn't possible, look for groups in the group-finder channels tagged "Mythic Fyrakk old" or "Anu'relos farm." Many players assemble such groups for collective farming with loot distributed by roll.

Paid Services

If your time is worth more than virtual rarity, there is a market of commercial raid carries where professional teams kill Fyrakk with a mount guarantee for a fixed fee. This is a legal gray area, but major services have operated for a long time.

Recolor: Anu'shalla, Shadow's Guidance

In the Midnight expansion (patch 12.0), Blizzard added a shadow recolor of the mount — Anu'shalla, Shadow's Guidance. This purple-and-black variant of the owl is awarded for the "Unstoppable Collection" achievement, which requires collecting 600 mounts available to a single character.

If you're farming Anu'relos, keep in mind: even without this rare mount you can obtain a similar model in the shadow color scheme through long-term collection accumulation. However, the fiery original remains unique and its appearance is unavailable by any other means.

Tips

1

Don't put the farm off until "later" — Blizzard rarely raises the drop chances of old raid mounts. The current 1% is probably the final value, and every week without an attempt means a lost chance.

2

Level a druid and a hunter — even if you don't plan to play them, the bonus rewards (flight form and owl pet) will be a pleasant addition to the mount.

3

Set up a guild rotation — a weekly run with a raid of 5–10 experienced players against old Mythic Fyrakk takes 15–20 minutes and gives every participant a shot at the mount.

4

Learn the Roots mechanic — the main cause of wipes in solo and small-group farming. Any fire patch landing on the Roots of Amirdrassil applies a raid-wide debuff and quickly kills the group.

5

Use transmog — even if you already have Anu'relos, the bonus rewards (feather and coal) expand the cosmetic options for druids and hunters. Keep this in mind when choosing a character to farm.

6

Watch for patch changes — in theory Blizzard could revisit drop chances in future patches, as has been done with other old raid mounts.

7

Don't confuse the difficulties — the mount drops only from Mythic Fyrakk. Heroic, Normal mode and Raid Finder do not award the inv_dreamowl_firemountReins of Anu'relos, even though the boss itself drops there too.

8

Account + bonuses — once obtained, the mount and both bonus items instantly become available to all characters on your account. A single successful kill on one character is enough.
