Armored Brown Bear (Alliance)

The Armored Brown Bear is a ground mount from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, available to Alliance characters. It is a massive brown bear clad in heavy armor enchanted by the mages of the Kirin Tor. The mount is sold by the exotic mount vendor in Dalaran and costs 750 gold.

The Horde has its own version of this mount. Visually the two versions are almost identical: the same brown bear in heavy armor, differing only in the colors of the decorative harness elements.

• Instant purchase for gold — there's no need to grind reputation to a certain level, run raids, or wait for a drop. Just fly to Dalaran and pay 750 gold.
• Collection value — one of WoW's bear mounts with a unique armored model. The purchase also grants the Armored Brown Bear achievement.
• Account-wide — once acquired, the mount appears in the collection of all your Alliance characters.
• Reputation discount — as you raise your reputation with the Kirin Tor, the price drops. At Exalted the mount costs roughly 600 gold instead of 750.

The mount is sold by Mei Francis — the exotic mount vendor in Dalaran.

Step-by-step

1. Open a portal to Dalaran (Northrend). In Stormwind the portal is in the Mage Tower; in other capitals, use the corresponding portals.
2. In Dalaran, head to the Runeweaver Square. Mei Francis stands on the street near the "Magical Menagerie" shop, at coordinates 57.2, 41.4
3. Talk to her and select Reins of the Armored Brown Bear from the list of goods.
4. Pay 750 gold (or less if you have reputation with the Kirin Tor).
5. Use the item — the mount will appear in your mount collection.

Mei Francis sells a whole range of mounts for gold. If you've already made it to Dalaran, it's worth browsing her stock and picking up several mounts for your collection at once.

All goods at Mei Francis get cheaper as you raise your reputation with the Kirin Tor faction. The discount applies automatically — you just need the right standing.

In 2026, the easiest way to gain Kirin Tor reputation is to wear the Tabard of the Kirin Tor and run Northrend dungeons. At max level (80 in The War Within) every dungeon is cleared in a couple of minutes.

That said, the price difference is small — about 150 gold between the base cost and the price at Exalted. If you don't plan to buy the expensive mammoths from the same vendor, grinding reputation for a single discount isn't worth it.
