Get Armored Red Dragonhawk mount

Armored Red Dragonhawk is an epic flying mount added in patch 5.3.0 of the Mists of Pandaria expansion. It is a heavily armored battle dragonhawk, gifted by the blood elves to Horde heroes for outstanding achievements in collecting mounts. The mount is awarded automatically as a reward for the Mountain o’ Mounts achievement — collecting 200 mounts usable by a single character.

In appearance, the Armored Red Dragonhawk differs from the regular Red Drake thanks to massive armor plates on its wings and body, along with decorative elements in the Horde’s red-and-gold colors. The mount’s description reads: “This rare breed of dragonhawk is a badge of honor in the Horde, gifted by the blood elves. It reflects your relentless efforts to amass an entire army of mounts.”

• A status mount — the Armored Red Dragonhawk clearly demonstrates your dedication to collecting. It proves you have gathered at least 200 mounts on a single character
• A unique model — the armored version of the dragonhawk stands out from ordinary riding dragonhawks thanks to its massive red-and-gold armor
• A flying mount — it works as both a ground and flying mount. Its speed scales with your riding skill: up to +100% on the ground and up to +310% in the air
• Account-wide — once earned, the mount appears in the Mount Journal for all your Horde characters
• No farming required — unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, you don’t have to rely on luck. You progress steadily toward the goal by collecting new mounts

The Armored Red Dragonhawk is awarded for the Mountain o’ Mounts achievement. To complete it, you need to collect 200 mounts usable by a single character.

1. Open the Achievements panel (default key Y) and go to “Collections” — “Mounts”
2. Find the “Mountain o’ Mounts” achievement and check your current progress
3. Collect mounts from every available source: quests, reputations, dungeons, raids, PvP, professions, world events, and vendors
4. When the counter reaches 200, the achievement is completed automatically
5. The Armored Red Dragonhawk mount instantly appears in your Mount Journal

Note: this achievement is available only to Horde characters. The Alliance has an equivalent reward — the Armored Blue Dragonhawk.

The mount-counting system for achievements has several quirks worth knowing about.

• A single character’s mounts count — progress only counts mounts that the specific character can use. If a mount is restricted by race or class, it counts only for the character who can use it
• The number from Statistics, not the journal — rely on the number in the “Statistics” section of the Achievements window, not the total count in the Mount Journal. The journal may show mounts unavailable to the current character
• Account matters more than character — account-wide mounts count on every eligible character. However, character-bound mounts count only for that character
• Class and race mounts — racial mounts of other races within your faction count if the character can use them. Class mounts (for example, the Death Knight’s steed) count only for a character of the matching class

To reach 200 mounts, use every available source.

Faction Vendors

Buy riding animals from your faction’s vendors. Each Horde race has its own mount vendor: wolves (orcs), kodos (tauren), bats (Forsaken), bone raptors (trolls), hawkstriders (blood elves), and trikes (goblins). Don’t forget about allied race mounts.

Reputation Mounts

Many factions sell mounts once you reach a certain reputation level. Among the most accessible: The Wyrmrest Accord, The Oracles, The Klaxxi, and dozens of others.

Dungeons and Raids

Many dungeon and raid bosses have a chance to drop a mount. Run outdated instances weekly: Stratholme, Blackrock Caverns, Ulduar, Icecrown Citadel, Firelands, and others.

PvP Mounts

You can purchase riding animals from PvP vendors in the capitals for Honor and Conquest currency.

Professions

Some professions let you craft mounts: Engineering (motorcycles, helicopters), Tailoring (flying carpets), and Jewelcrafting (panthers).

World Events

Holiday events offer unique mounts: Brewfest (rams), Winter Veil (reindeer), Hallow’s End (broom), and Love Is in the Air (rocket).

Black Market

The Black Market occasionally features rare mounts for gold.
