Get Awakened Mindborer mount
Overview

Awakened Mindborer is an epic-quality flying mount added in update 8.3.0 "Visions of N'Zoth" of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. Visually it is a grey winged serpent of N'Zoth with tentacles on the sides of its head and a multitude of eyes: the model belongs to the family of Old God serpents, similar to the
All-Seeing Eye of Ny'alotha from the heroic final boss of Ny'alotha. The flavor text in the mount journal reads: "Right now it looks terrifying, but when it sleeps it's even kind of cute in its own way."
In-game the mount was awarded only for the seasonal achievement Battle for Azeroth Keystone Master: Fourth Season — for completing all 12 dungeons of update 8.3 in Mythic+ at a Keystone level of 15 or higher within the time limit. BfA Season 4 ended on October 13–14, 2020 with the launch of the Shadowlands pre-patch, after which the achievement and the mount were moved to the "Feat of Strength" category, which means in the current The War Within patch (2026) the mount is unavailable through normal means — it cannot be obtained from dungeons or raids.
Why You Want This Mount
- Mythic+ status symbol — the mount proves that the player cleared all BfA dungeons at a +15 key within the seasonal window. In your collection it marks you as someone who was there for Battle for Azeroth Season 4.
- A rare N'Zoth serpent model — the only grey color variant of this family, unlike the black
Ny'alothan Dark Worm and the many-eyed
All-Seeing Eye of Ny'alotha. At present the number of owners is limited to those who managed to close out the achievement before autumn 2020. - The accompanying title "Awakened" — together with the mount players received the title the Awakened for the related achievement "Battle for Azeroth Keystone Conqueror: Fourth Season"
- A theoretical chance through the Black Market — in rare cases mounts removed from circulation appear on the Black Market for large sums of gold, however this is not a guaranteed path.
How to Obtain
Obtaining the mount is outdated and does not repeat in the current game. Below is a description of how it happened back in the day, and what you can realistically do in 2026.
The Historical Chain (BfA Season 4, January–October 2020)
- The player leveled up their Mythic+ rating in Season 4 of Battle for Azeroth. The season started on January 22, 2020 along with the release of patch 8.3.
- The season rotation included all 12 dungeons of the expansion: the 10 base BfA dungeons plus the two parts of the mega-dungeon "Operation: Mechagon".
- You had to close each of the 12 dungeons in Mythic+ at a Keystone level of 15 or higher and finish within the time limit (that is, on time, with one or two timer stars, but not "depleted").
- After meeting all 12 requirements the achievement Battle for Azeroth Keystone Master: Fourth Season triggered automatically, the
Awakened Mindborer arrived in the mail, and the character received the title "the Awakened". - The season ended with the launch of the Shadowlands pre-patch on October 13–14, 2020. All unfinished progress was wiped and the achievement became unavailable.
What You Can Do Now (patch 11.x–12.x, 2026)
- The Awakened Mindborer no longer drops from dungeons, since the seasonal window closed long ago. Modern Keystone Master seasons reward different mounts.
- Keep an eye on the Black Market section at Drogbar in Oribos or at the Sketh'lyn Cleft. Sometimes the
Awakened Mindborer and similar seasonal mounts show up there, but prices start at several million gold - Follow the news about the "Keystone Eras" system in update 12.0.5 — the developers announced a new seasonal achievement that lets you obtain one of the old seasonal Mythic+ mounts in exchange for a currency. At present the specific list of returning mounts has not been confirmed, and the inclusion of the Awakened Mindborer in it is only one of the theoretical possibilities
Dungeons of Battle for Azeroth Season 4
For Battle for Azeroth Keystone Master: Fourth Season you had to close all 12 dungeons of the 8.3 rotation at a Keystone level of 15 or higher within the time limit.
| # | Dungeon | Location |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Atal'Dazar | Zuldazar (Zandalar) |
| 2 | King's Rest | Nazmir (Zandalar) |
| 3 | Temple of Sethraliss | Vol'dun (Zandalar) |
| 4 | The Underrot | Nazmir (Zandalar) |
| 5 | The MOTHERLODE!! | Dazar'alor (Zandalar) |
| 6 | Freehold | Tiragarde Sound (Kul Tiras) |
| 7 | Tol Dagor | Tiragarde Sound (Kul Tiras) |
| 8 | Waycrest Manor | Drustvar (Kul Tiras) |
| 9 | Shrine of the Storm | Stormsong Valley (Kul Tiras) |
| 10 | Siege of Boralus | Tiragarde Sound (Kul Tiras) |
| 11 | Operation: Mechagon — Junkyard | Mechagon |
| 12 | Operation: Mechagon — Workshop | Mechagon |
In Season 4 the "Awakened" affix was added to all dungeons — enemies periodically became corrupted, gained new abilities and increased damage, which noticeably raised the difficulty. No other season repeated this affix.
Season 4 Dungeon Affixes
The rotation of weekly affixes in Season 4 differed greatly from the usual and was a key feature when farming rating and closing a +15 key.
| Week type | Active affixes |
|---|---|
| Key +2 and above | Fortified or Tyrannical |
| Key +4 and above | Volcanic, Necrotic, Raging, Bursting, Bolstering, Inspiring |
| Key +7 and above | Bloodlust, Spiteful, Quaking, Grievous, Storming |
| Key +10 and above | Infested (Legion), Reaping (Nya'lotha), Awakened (N'Zoth) — in Season 4 all three of these affixes alternated, doubling the punishment for mechanic failures |
| Key +14 and above (final) | "Awakened" — the seasonal affix that turned random enemies into Corrupted ones with extra abilities |
Soloing the Dungeons Today
If the mount appears on the Black Market or is added to the "Keystone Eras" system, you no longer need to run the dungeons themselves. Nonetheless, all 12 Battle for Azeroth dungeons can be soloed at level 80 in The War Within on Mythic difficulty without difficulty: the health and damage of mobs scale to level 50, and boss mechanics pose no threat to a character with item level 600+.
Tips
The mount will not return to the regular dungeon rotation — any offers to "run" it from boosters in 2026 are a scam. The mount no longer drops in any 8.3.0 activity.
Follow the announcements about the 12.0.5 "Keystone Eras" update — that is exactly where the theoretical possibility of trading currency for old seasonal Mythic+ mounts is built in. If the Awakened Mindborer makes the list of returning rewards, that will be the official path.
Check the Black Market weekly — at Drogbar (Oribos) and the Sketh'lyn Cleft (Hasralla) seasonal Keystone Master mounts sometimes appear. Bids start from millions of gold and go up to tens of millions.
If you played in BfA Season 4 and did not get the mount — unfortunately it will no longer arrive. The reward was handed out roughly two weeks after the season ended and only to those who had the achievement credited by October 13, 2020.
Save your current seasonal Mythic+ mounts — every season since Dragonflight brings a new series of Keystone Master rewards. Close a +10 key (formerly designated +15) within the active window so you don't add to the list of unavailable mounts by your own example.
