Azure Cloud Serpent

The Azure Cloud Serpent is a flying mount from the Mists of Pandaria expansion. It is an elegant eastern dragon of azure color, one of the three cloud serpents raised by the Order of the Cloud Serpent in the Jade Forest on Pandaria. The mount was added in patch 5.5.0.

According to pandaren legend, azure cloud serpents are considered harbingers of good fortune. The mount model is a long, wingless serpent with whiskers and horns that soars through the air, undulating like a Chinese dragon.

The mount's speed depends on your riding skill: up to +100% on the ground, up to +310% in the air.

Step 1: Start the Quest Chain

Head to the Arboretum in the eastern part of the Jade Forest. Find Elder Anli and pick up the quest "The Way of the Cloud Serpent."

The starter quest chain will send you to the Windward Isle east of the main continent.

Step 2: Choose Your Serpent Egg

During the quest chain, Instructor Skythorn will offer you the quest "The Cloud Serpent's Choice." You will have to choose one of three eggs:

• Azure Egg — will grow into an azure cloud serpent (the variant you want)
• Jade Egg — will grow into a jade cloud serpent
• Golden Egg — will grow into a golden cloud serpent

The color you choose determines which serpent you receive for free from the quest upon reaching Exalted. The other two serpents can then be bought from the quartermaster for 2,400 gold each.

Step 3: Complete the Daily Quests

After finishing the starter chain (you will reach Honored), the daily quests open up. Each day you have access to:

• Two quests from your serpent hatchling — feeding, training, playing with a ball (+450 reputation each)
• One quest from Elder Anli — combat or gathering (+600 reputation)
• Profession quests (with skill 525+): fishing, archaeology, cooking, first aid (+125 reputation each)

In total, you can earn roughly 1,500–2,000 reputation per day through quests.

Step 4: Farm Onyx Eggs

This is the fastest way to gain reputation. Onyx Eggs are scattered across the Windward Isle — a small island east of the Jade Forest.

Farming notes:

• Each egg is turned in through the repeatable quest "Onyx Luck" and grants 500 reputation
• The eggs are gray, do not glow or sparkle — they are hard to spot
• They spawn on cliff tops, ledges, at the roots of trees and inside skulls
• The respawn is slow — on low-population servers there are significantly more eggs

To find the eggs, it is recommended to install the TomTom addon together with the Cloud Serpent Onyx Eggs add-on, which marks all spawn points on the map.

Step 5: Buy the Grand Commendation (at Honored)

Once you reach the Honored reputation level, be sure to buy the "Grand Commendation of the Order of the Cloud Serpent" item from San Redscale for 50 gold.

This item doubles the reputation gained for all characters on your account. After using it, each Onyx Egg will grant 1,000 reputation instead of 500, and daily quests twice as much. This significantly speeds up the path from Honored to Exalted.

Step 6: Collect Quivering Firestorm Eggs (Optional)

On the Timeless Isle you can find Quivering Firestorm Eggs, each of which grants 1,000 reputation (2,000 with the Grand Commendation). They drop from Huolon and Flamefeather Firestorms on the Timeless Isle.

Step 7: Obtain the Mount

Upon reaching Exalted, the quest "Riding the Skies" becomes available. Complete it to receive the mount for free (if you chose the Azure Egg in Step 2). If you chose a different color — simply buy the Reins of the Azure Cloud Serpent from San Redscale for 2,400 gold.

Fast Track: 2–4 Hours to Exalted

1. Complete the starter quest chain (10–15 minutes) — this gets you to Honored
2. Do all available daily quests
3. Head to the Windward Isle and start collecting Onyx Eggs
4. Upon reaching Honored, immediately buy the Grand Commendation
5. Keep farming eggs — with doubled reputation the path to Exalted shortens noticeably

Reputation Math

In total, you need to gather about 42,000 reputation from Neutral to reach Exalted. With active egg farming on a low-population server, this is achievable in one long session.

Egg Farming Route

The Windward Isle is small. The optimal route is to circle the island, starting from the cliff tops and gradually descending. Eggs are most often found:

• On the tops and ledges of rock pillars
• At the bases of trees and large boulders
• Inside enormous skulls
• On platforms with nests

If the eggs run out — switch to daily quests or come back in 30–60 minutes.
