Overview

Bleakhoof Ruinstrider

Game iconBleakhoof Ruinstrider is an epic ground mount added in patch 7.3 "Shadows of Argus" of the Legion expansion. It is an Argussian Ruinstrider (a talbuk) with pale hooves and reddish skin marked by Fel influence. The mount is awarded as a reward for the achievement "...And Chew Mana Buns" and is delivered by in-game mail immediately after completion.

The mount's description reads: "The Army of the Light was only able to save a handful of Argus's species — countless more were consumed by the chaos." This phrase underscores the tragic fate of Argus's fauna, destroyed by the Burning Legion.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed reward — unlike mounts with a low drop chance, the Bleakhoof Ruinstrider is earned through an achievement. You don't need to rely on luck: simply destroy the required number of demons
  • Fast farming — with focused effort, the achievement can be completed in one to two hours of active farming on a high-level character
  • Unique model — this is one of the few Argussian Ruinstriders with pale hooves and a distinctive reddish coloring. The model differs from other Argus talbuks available from vendors
  • Account-wide — once obtained, the mount becomes available on all characters on your account
  • No reputation or gold required — the only condition is killing enough demons on Argus

How to Obtain

To obtain the mount, you must complete the achievement "...And Chew Mana Buns", which requires killing 2,000 significant demons in the Argus zones: Krokuun, Eredath (formerly Mac'Aree), and the Antoran Wastes.

  1. Unlock access to Argus by starting the quest chain in Dalaran (Broken Isles). The starting quest "Hand of Fate" (Horde) or "The Hand of Fate" (Alliance) is available from Khadgar
  2. Complete the introductory storyline on Krokuun to gain full access to Argus's zones
  3. Begin killing demons in any of the three zones. Only "significant" demons count — regular mobs of medium difficulty and above. Small imps generally do not count (except for imps near the Collector's Refuge in the Antoran Wastes)
  4. Track your progress in the Achievements tab → Exploration → Legion
  5. After killing 2,000 demons, the achievement will be completed and the mount will arrive via in-game mail

Achievement Chain

The achievement "...And Chew Mana Buns" is part of a series of four achievements for killing demons on Argus.

Achievement Demons Reward
We Came Here to Do Two Things... 100 10 achievement points
Kill Demons... 500 10 achievement points
...And Chew Mana Buns 2,000 Bleakhoof Ruinstrider
And We're All Out of Mana Buns... 5,000 "Demonslayer" title

All four achievements share the same kill counter. You do not need to complete them sequentially — progress is tracked automatically.

Best Farming Spots

On a max-level character, demons on Argus die instantly, so farming speed depends on mob density and respawn rate.

Shadowfall Ridge, Krokuun

This is the most efficient farming spot. In front of the Army of the Light fortifications are two portals from which demons continuously spawn. Farming speed here reaches approximately 1,000 kills per 30 minutes with active movement between mob groups.

How to get there:

  1. Teleport to the Vindicaar via the portal on Krasus's Landing in Dalaran
  2. Use the Vindicaar's telepad to Krokuun
  3. Head to the northwestern part of the zone where the fortifications are located

Fel Forge, Antoran Wastes

An alternative location with high demon density. Groups of mobs respawn quickly here. Suitable if the Shadowfall Ridge area has many other players.

Farming Tips

  • Use AoE abilities — area damage lets you kill groups of demons simultaneously. Classes with strong AoE (Mage, Demon Hunter, Warrior) farm faster
  • Form a group via Group Finder — find or create a custom group in the Group Finder tool (Custom section). Kills in a group count for every member
  • Do not use bodyguards — summoned followers from the Vindicaar may steal kills that do not always count toward achievement progress
  • Check your progress regularly — open the Achievements window and find "...And Chew Mana Buns" to see your current kill count

How to Get to Argus

If you have not yet unlocked access to Argus, follow these steps.

First Visit

  1. Get to Dalaran on the Broken Isles. Use your Hearthstone if it is set to Dalaran, or use a portal from your faction's capital
  2. Find Khadgar and pick up the starting quest for the Argus chain
  3. Follow the storyline — you will be transported to the Vindicaar automatically
  4. Complete the introductory quests on Krokuun to unlock the telepads and access to other zones

Quick Access (after unlocking)

  1. Head to Krasus's Landing in Dalaran (Broken Isles)
  2. Use the golden portal to the Vindicaar
  3. On board the Vindicaar, use the telepads to travel between Argus's zones

Tips

1

Combine with world quests — if you are also building reputation with Argus factions, demon kills during world quests count toward achievement progress

2

The achievement is account-wide — progress is tracked across all characters. However, farming on a single max-level character is most efficient

3

Continue to 5,000 — if you want the "Demonslayer" title, keep farming after obtaining the mount. The title is awarded for the next achievement in the chain — "And We're All Out of Mana Buns..."

4

Use the Chromie System — if your character is below level 50, enable the Legion timeline through Chromie in Orgrimmar or Stormwind to access Argus content

5

Take your time — if focused farming feels repetitive, the achievement can be completed gradually by simply playing on Argus. World quests, rare enemies, and story quests all count toward the total

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
