Get Bloodgorged Hunter mount

Bloodgorged Hunter is an epic flying mount in the form of a silvery-blue bat, added in patch 8.1.0 of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is a recolor of the Armored Bloodwing model with a unique frosty palette that makes it stand out among other bat mounts. As the item's flavor text says: "If it wasn't so clumsy, you'd never have caught it."

The mount is a rare reward from Island Expeditions — special Battle for Azeroth content in which a group of players (or a solo character) lands on a random island to gather Azerite.

• Rare model — a silvery-blue bat with a unique coloring that is extremely rare in the game. The Bloodgorged Hunter is a recolor of the Armored Bloodwing, but its cold hue looks considerably more striking
• Status mount — because of its extremely low drop chance (under 1%), this mount is a genuine rarity. Few players can boast of having it in their collection
• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Its speed depends on your riding skill: up to +100% on the ground and up to +310% in flight
• Account-wide — once obtained, the mount is bound to your account and becomes available on all of your characters
• Solo farm — since patch 9.1.5, Island Expeditions can be run solo, which makes farming convenient and fast on a high-level character

The Bloodgorged Hunter drops from Battle for Azeroth Island Expeditions. There are two main ways to obtain it.

Method 1: Direct drop from an expedition

The mount can drop as a reward upon completing an Island Expedition if bats were present on the island. The drop chance is extremely low — players estimate it at under 1% even on Mythic difficulty. The higher the expedition difficulty, the higher the chance of receiving a rare reward.

Method 2: Crates for Sailor's Doubloons

The Bloodgorged Hunter can also be found in crates of salvaged supplies sold by special vendors for Sailor's Doubloons:

• Horde — Captain Kit in the Port of Zandalar
• Alliance — Captain Nightwatch in Boralus

The vendors refresh their stock once a week and offer 3–4 themed crates matching different islands. Cost: 175 doubloons for an epic crate and 120 doubloons for a rare one. The Bloodgorged Hunter can drop from any rare or epic crate. It is recommended to buy rare (blue) crates — they are cheaper, and the chance of getting the mount is comparable.

According to Wowhead, the drop chance from themed crates is roughly 1.3–2.9% depending on the crate type.

1. Head to your faction's Battle for Azeroth capital: Dazar'alor for the Horde or Boralus for the Alliance
2. Find the NPC that starts expeditions: Captain Rez'okun (Horde) or Flynn Fairwind (Alliance)
3. Choose the "Private Visit" option for a solo queue. Three difficulties are available: Normal, Heroic, and Mythic
4. On a high-level character, a Normal-difficulty expedition takes 3–5 minutes. You quickly gather Azerite and complete the scenario
5. Upon finishing the expedition you receive a reward — with a small chance it will be the Bloodgorged Hunter
6. Additionally, you earn Sailor's Doubloons, which can be spent on crates at the vendors
7. Repeat the process. Be prepared for a long grind — some players report hundreds or even thousands of attempts before getting the mount

Island Expeditions are three-player scenarios (or solo since patch 9.1.5) added in Battle for Azeroth. A group lands on a random island and competes against a team of NPCs to gather Azerite. Various creatures appear on the islands, and their type determines which rewards you can receive.

Sailor's Doubloons

Sailor's Doubloons are a currency you earn for completing Island Expeditions and from mobs on the islands. Doubloons can be spent on consumables from vendors on the ship or on crates of salvaged supplies from special vendors in Boralus and Dazar'alor.

• Pick the right difficulty — on a high-level character, Normal difficulty clears the fastest (3–5 minutes). Mythic difficulty gives a slightly higher chance at a rare reward but takes longer. For maximum efficiency, Normal difficulty is recommended
• Save doubloons for crates — alongside the direct farm, save up Sailor's Doubloons and buy rare (blue) crates from the vendors. This increases your chances of getting the mount
• Check vendor stock weekly — the crates from Captain Kit and Captain Nightwatch refresh once a week. Keep an eye on which themed crates are available
• Be patient — the drop chance is extremely low. Some players report thousands of attempts. Spread the farm across several sessions so you don't burn out
• Farm on multiple characters — the mount is account-bound, so you can run expeditions on different characters, increasing your total number of attempts per week
• Combine with other rewards — Island Expeditions also drop other mounts, pets, toys, and transmog items. Farming the Bloodgorged Hunter brings other valuable rewards at the same time
