Overview

Bloodhoof Bull

Game iconBloodhoof Bull is an epic ground mount added in patch 6.0.2 of the Warlords of Draenor expansion. It is a massive clefthoof with dark-red hide, one of six mounts that drop from rare elite mobs in the Draenor open world. This guaranteed-drop mount (100% chance) drops from Nakk the Thunderer — a rare elite clefthoof in the Nagrand zone (Draenor).

The Bloodhoof Bull is one of the largest mounts in the game. Your character sits atop a huge clefthoof, creating an impressive visual effect. The item description reads: "Members of the Warsong clan have long hunted these clefthoof for their crimson hides, used to make battle standards."

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed drop — unlike most rare mounts, the Bloodhoof Bull drops with a 100% chance. Every player who takes part in killing Nakk the Thunderer will receive the mount
  • Impressive size — this is one of the largest mounts in the game. The massive clefthoof model looks great on characters of any race
  • Unique coloring — the dark-red hide makes this clefthoof stand out among other mounts of the same family. The crimson color draws attention and pairs well with red-toned transmog
  • Available on all characters — once obtained, the mount becomes available on every character on your account
  • No reputation or gold required — the only requirement is killing a rare mob. There is no need to grind reputation, complete quest chains, or save up gold

How to Obtain

To obtain the mount, you need to find and kill the rare elite mob Nakk the Thunderer in Nagrand (Draenor).

  1. Head to Nagrand (Draenor). If you have a garrison, use your garrison hearthstone and fly to Nagrand. Alternatively, use the portal to Ashran from your faction capital, then fly southwest
  2. Arrive in the northern part of Nagrand, where Nakk the Thunderer patrols. The main spawn points are located between Mok'gol and the Throne of Joze
  3. If Nakk the Thunderer is up — attack him. Landing at least one hit is enough to be eligible for loot
  4. If the mob is not there — wait for it to appear. Use the macro /tar Nakk to find it quickly, or the SilverDragon/RareScanner addon
  5. After the kill, take Game iconBloodhoof Bull from the loot and use the item to learn the mount

Where to Find Nakk the Thunderer

Nakk the Thunderer is a huge clefthoof that patrols the northern part of Nagrand (Draenor). He has several spawn points and a long patrol route.

Spawn Points

Nakk appears at one of several points and slowly wanders the northern part of the zone. Main coordinates:

  • 50.0, 34.2 — northwest of the Throne of Joze
  • 55.0, 35.4 — north of Lok-rath
  • 63.0, 16.0 — near the Throne of the Elements
/way Nagrand:Draenor 50.0 34.2 Nakk the Thunderer (spawn 1) /way Nagrand:Draenor 55.0 35.4 Nakk the Thunderer (spawn 2) /way Nagrand:Draenor 63.0 16.0 Nakk the Thunderer (spawn 3)

Patrol Route

Nakk the Thunderer moves in a wide circle across the upper part of Nagrand. He travels from the eastern side of the Ring of Blood south to the Throne of Joze flight point, then west to the Mok'gol Watchpost. His movement speed is low, so if you spot him on the map via an addon, you have time to fly over.

Respawn Timer

According to the community, Nakk the Thunderer's respawn timer is approximately 20-36 hours after the last kill. After a server restart (weekly maintenance) the timer resets, and the mob may appear sooner.

Fighting Nakk the Thunderer

At the current max level (90 in Midnight) the fight against Nakk the Thunderer is trivial and takes a few seconds. The mob dies from a few hits from any level 90 character.

Combat Notes

  • Level — 35-40 (scaling)
  • Surroundings — Nakk patrols among ordinary clefthooves (Steeltusk Bulls). At high level they pose no threat, but they can knock your character back
  • Neutral — Nakk does not attack first. He is neutral toward both factions

Important for Group Kills

The mount drops for every participant in the kill — no need to split loot. Landing at least one hit is enough to be eligible for the spoils. This also applies to players from another group or faction.

How to Reach Nagrand (Draenor)

Via Garrison

  1. Use your hearthstone if it is set to your garrison in Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) or Frostfire Ridge (Horde)
  2. From the garrison, fly southwest to Nagrand
  3. Head to the northern part of the zone, toward the spawn point coordinates

Via Ashran

  1. From Orgrimmar or Stormwind, use the portal to Ashran
  2. From Ashran, fly southwest through Nagrand
  3. Arrive in the northern part of the zone

Via the Portal to Draenor

  1. If you have a portal open to any Draenor zone, use it
  2. Fly to Nagrand from any available flight point

Addons and Macros for Farming

Macro for Finding

Use this macro to quickly locate Nakk the Thunderer. Press it periodically as you fly across the zone:

/tar Nakk the Thunderer
/stopmacro [noexists]
/script SetRaidTarget("target", 8)
/yell Nakk the Thunderer found!

Recommended Addons

  • SilverDragon — automatically scans the zone for rare mobs and alerts you when one is found. It supports sound notifications that trigger even when the game is minimized
  • RareScanner — an alternative to SilverDragon with similar functionality. It shows spawn points on the map and alerts you when rare mobs appear
  • TomTom — lets you use /way commands to navigate to spawn points. It draws a direction arrow on your screen
  • HandyNotes: Draenor Treasures — marks the positions of all Draenor rare mobs on the map, including Nakk the Thunderer

Other Draenor Open-World Mounts

The Bloodhoof Bull is one of four mounts that drop from rare elite mobs in the Draenor open world. All four mounts have a 100% drop chance:

Mount Mob Zone
Game iconBloodhoof Bull Nakk the Thunderer Nagrand
Game iconMottled Meadowstomper Luk'hok Nagrand
Game iconSapphire Riverbeast Gorok Talador
Game iconSwift Breezestrider Poundfist Shadowmoon Valley

Tips

1

Use a rare-mob addon — SilverDragon or RareScanner make the search far easier. The addon will alert you with a sound even if you minimized the game or got distracted. Without an addon it is easy to miss the mob

2

Fly along the patrol route — instead of standing in one spot, fly in a circle between the spawn points. This way you will spot Nakk faster, even if he wandered far from his spawn

3

Check after weekly maintenance — a server restart resets the respawn timer. The first hours after maintenance are the best time to search

4

Do not use raid mode — while in a raid group, open-world rare mobs may not appear due to phasing. Leave the raid before searching

5

You can collect all four mounts in one trip — if you are flying across Draenor for the Bloodhoof Bull, check the other rare mobs in nearby zones too. All four mounts have a guaranteed drop chance

6

The fight is trivial at level 90 — there is no need to gather a group or prepare for a hard fight. Any level 90 character will kill Nakk the Thunderer in seconds

7

The mount is account-bound — once obtained, the Bloodhoof Bull becomes available to all your characters. Farm it on whichever character is most convenient
