Blue Dragonhawk is an epic flying mount added in patch 3.1.0 of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is the reward for the Mountain o' Mounts achievement, which requires you to collect 100 different mounts on a single character. The mount is available only to Alliance characters — Horde players earn the
Red Dragonhawk for the equivalent achievement.
Dragonhawks are among the deadliest predators of Azeroth. They can spot prey from a great distance, dive at incredible speed, and tear their victims apart with claws and beak. The Blue Dragonhawk stands out for its vivid turquoise-blue plumage and elegant silhouette in flight.
To get the Blue Dragonhawk you need to complete the Mountain o' Mounts achievement — collect 100 different mounts available to a single character.
The Blue Dragonhawk is part of a long chain of mount-collecting achievements. Here is the full series of rewards:
| Number of Mounts | Reward |
|---|---|
| 10 | "Filling the Stables" achievement |
| 25 | "Stable Keeper" achievement |
| 50 | |
| 100 | |
| 150 | Pandaren Kite |
| 200 | |
| 250 | Fel-Flame Hawk |
| 300 | Heavenly Azure Cloud Serpent |
| 350 | Frosty's Snowball Core |
| 400 | Felfire Hawk |
| 500 | Otherworldly Ottuk |
This series motivates you to keep collecting: every new milestone brings an increasingly rare and impressive mount.
Collecting 100 mounts is easier than it seems if you approach it systematically. Below are the source categories that will help you quickly reach the required number.
Each Alliance race has its own mount vendor. At Exalted reputation with the matching faction you gain access to all of that race's mounts:
Tip: equip the relevant faction's tabard and run dungeons — reputation builds up quickly.
Some mounts are sold by vendors with no reputation requirement or at a modest price:
Many factions sell mounts once you reach a certain reputation level:
Old raids and dungeons clear in minutes at max level:
Seasonal holidays grant unique mounts:
With a focused approach you can collect 100 mounts in 2–4 weeks of active play. Racial and gold mounts give a quick boost. Reputation mounts require a few days of grinding per faction. Raid drops depend on luck, but you shouldn't rely on them alone — there are more than enough guaranteed sources.
Start with guaranteed sources — racial mounts, gold vendors, and reputation rewards don't rely on luck. Close those out first, and rare drops become a pleasant bonus.
Use every Alliance faction — raising reputation with all racial factions to Exalted grants access to 20–30 mounts. Equip a tabard and run dungeons.
Check outdated content — raids and dungeons from past expansions clear in minutes at max level. A single weekly run of old raids can net several mounts over a month.
Don't forget professions — Tailoring and Engineering each grant 2–3 unique mounts. Even if you don't plan to use these professions, learn them for the mounts.
Watch world events — holiday mounts are only available during specific periods. Miss a holiday and you lose a full year of waiting.
The achievement counts all of a character's mounts — make sure you're counting the mounts available to that specific character, not your account-wide collection. Class mounts (such as a paladin or warlock mount) only count for the matching class.
Horde characters get the Red Dragonhawk — if you play Horde, you need the achievement with ID 2537. The reward is equivalent but differs in the mount's color.
The mount is account-wide — once earned, the Blue Dragonhawk appears in the collection of all your Alliance characters. On Horde characters it is automatically replaced by the Red Dragonhawk.
