Get Bristling Hellboar mount
Overview

The
Bristling Hellboar is an Alliance ground boar mount introduced in patch 6.2 "Fury of Hellfire". The mount looks like a massive, fiery-red boar with bristles and menacing tusks — a perfect thematic fit for Tanaan Jungle.
Despite being legacy content, the mount remains obtainable: the faction and vendor are still in place, and the farming mechanics are unchanged.
Why You Want This Mount
- An impressive collector's model — one of the few "demonic" boars in the game
- Counts toward mount collection achievements
- Reputation progress simultaneously counts toward the Tanaan Diplomat achievement
- Farming the Saberstalkers also gives you a chance at a second mount — the
Wild Goretusk (for 1000 Claws), the Savage Cub battle pet, and a tabard - Account-wide: once obtained, the mount is available to all Alliance and Horde characters on your account
Requirements
- An Alliance character level 10 or higher (the mount uses basic riding — "Apprentice Riding")
- Tanaan Jungle unlocked (the introductory Draenor garrison quest completed)
- Exalted reputation with The Saberstalkers
- 5000 Blackfang Claws — the faction's currency
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1 — Unlock Tanaan Jungle
If you haven't been to Tanaan yet, start the quest chain from your garrison commander on Draenor. For a level 90 character, the zone-unlock quests take literally 20–30 minutes — enemies hit weakly, and the portal to the Dark Portal into Tanaan appears after the first series of missions.
Step 2 — Fly to Fang'rila
Fang'rila is located in the southeast of Tanaan Jungle. The Alliance has convenient flight points:
Step 3 — Find Z'tenga the Walker
The quartermaster Z'tenga the Walker stands right at the entrance to Fang'rila (coordinates ~47, 73). Check his inventory: most rewards unlock in stages as your reputation grows.
Step 4 — Start Farming Reputation
Reputation with The Saberstalkers is earned exclusively in Fang'rila:
- Regular Blackfang tribe elite mobs — +25 reputation and ~5 Blackfang Claws per kill
- Rare elites — +500 reputation and additional claws, respawn around 30 minutes
- The weekly quest "Rumble in the Jungle" from Z'tenga — +3500 reputation for defeating the three Blackfang Challenge Arena bosses (Akrrilo, Rendarr, Eyepiercer)
- Daily quests from the garrison outpost in Tanaan — these grant an extra +1500 reputation
At level 90 the mobs no longer feel elite — you take them down solo in a few seconds, but their numbers and spawn density still demand attention.
Step 5 — Hoard Claws
Blackfang Claws accumulate alongside reputation. You need:
- 5000 claws for the mount itself
- Optionally: 1000 claws for the Wild Goretusk, 150 claws for the Savage Cub, 500 claws for the tabard
The average drop is 5 claws per mob. Reaching 5000 claws takes roughly 1000 kills of regular mobs, but rares and boss runs speed up the process significantly. You can realistically fit it into 8–12 hours of active farming spread across 2–3 weeks for the weekly quests.
Step 6 — Reach Exalted and Buy the Mount
Once you hit Exalted, the
Bristling Hellboar unlocks in Z'tenga's inventory for 5000 claws. Buy it — the mount is added to your collection automatically.
Farming Optimization
- Form a group. In a full party of 5, mobs drop instantly, and the combined claws and reputation per unit of time are higher than solo.
- Don't skip "Rumble in the Jungle". 3500 reputation once a week is almost 17% of an Exalted tier from a single 15–20 minute activity.
- Pick up garrison dailies. Some dailies in Tanaan also grant reputation with The Saberstalkers — collect them on your way to Fang'rila.
- Watch for rare respawns. Use addons like SilverDragon or Rare Scanner: 500 reputation and guaranteed claws from one rare repay 5 minutes of waiting.
- Buff banner (available at Friendly with Z'tenga) — The Saberstalkers' battle banner increases damage dealt in Fang'rila, which speeds up the farm.
- Tanaan chests. Rewards from Tanaan's Great Adventure Pack sometimes contain Blackfang Claws — don't skip the zone's dailies.
Tips
The mount does not require flying skill — it's a ground mount, so it suits any character with basic riding.
If you're working on the Tanaan Diplomat achievement, reputation with The Saberstalkers up to Revered is mandatory — earning the mount closes out that requirement at the same time.
Be careful with the "legendary" rare The Blackfang — it's one of the tankiest rares in Fang'rila, and solo at level 90 it still hits noticeably hard.
You can farm claws on any character on your account — the currency is account-bound, so it's convenient to earn it on alts with an active rested bonus.
