Get Bronzewing Vespoid mount
Overview

Bronzewing Vespoid is a flying mount shaped like a mechanical wasp with bronze wings, added in patch 9.2.0 "Eternity's End." It is one of four vespoid mounts created through the Protoform Synthesis system in the Zereth Mortis zone.
In-game description: "The Bronzewing Vespoid is the result of an attempt to synthesize a queen separately from the hive. No mortal has yet managed to synthesize an entire hive, but the bronzewings make fine mounts."
The mount supports ground travel (+60%/+100%) and flight (+150%/+280%/+310%) depending on your riding skill.
What You Will Need to Create It
The Bronzewing Vespoid is created at the Cypher Console forge from three components:
| Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 350 | Any creatures in Zereth Mortis | |
| 1 | Vespoids in Zereth Mortis | |
| 1 | Stock Overseer (weekly) |
In addition to the materials, you need the
Pattern: Bronzewing Vespoid, which is located in the Sanctuary of the Burdened.
How to Unlock Protoform Synthesis for Mounts
Before you can start creating the mount, you must unlock access to the Protoform Synthesis vault. Here is a step-by-step guide:
Reach Zereth Mortis. Complete the second chapter of the 9.1 campaign (Korthia), which unlocks access to the 9.2 campaign.
Complete the first three chapters of the Zereth Mortis campaign — the "Secrets of the First Ones" quest chain. This unlocks the Cypher Console in the Forge of Afterlives.
Research the "Understanding Sopranis" branch in the Cypher Console. To do this, you must first fully research the "Understanding Dealic" branch (which costs 200 cyphers), and then invest another 220 cyphers into "Understanding Sopranis."
Complete the "Searching for Tarachand" quest chain. After researching "Understanding Sopranis," Pocopoc will offer a quest near the Pilgrim's Refuge. Complete the entire chain, including the "A Lost Component" and "A New Architect" quests (the last one appears after the daily reset).
Protoform Synthesis is unlocked. The forge for creating mounts is located at the coordinates /way 70.18 28.60 in Zereth Mortis.
Where to Find the Bronzewing Vespoid Pattern
The pattern is located in the Crypts of the Eternal — a cave in the central part of Zereth Mortis.
- Cave entrance: /way 50.57 32.01
- Pattern inside: /way 48.98 40.50 — go up the right ramp and find the "Protoform Pattern" object at the top, inside the pyramidal structure
Important: the pattern will not appear until you have unlocked Protoform Synthesis (complete all the steps from the previous section). If the object does not show up, try relogging or switching phases.
How to Gather Genesis Motes
Genesis Motes are the main resource for Protoform Synthesis. To create the Bronzewing Vespoid you need 350 of them.
Motes drop from nearly any creature in Zereth Mortis. The best farming methods are:
- Mass mob killing. Any animal-like creatures in the zone drop Motes. Choose spots with high mob density and fast respawns.
- Rare enemies and treasures. Rares and chests often contain several Motes at once.
- The "A New Architect" quest. Granted after unlocking the vault, it rewards Motes.
- Oleahil Supplies. Containers that open up across the zone sometimes contain Motes.
With focused farming, 350 Motes can be gathered in 2–4 hours.
How to Obtain the Vespoid Matrix
The
Vespoid Matrix is a rare reagent that drops only from vespoids in Zereth Mortis.
Best Farming Spot
Head to the Buzzing Bluff, south of the Pilgrim's Refuge. Vespoid Drones and Vespoid Workers with low health and fast respawns live here.
Farming Tips
- The drop chance is extremely low — according to players, the Matrix may drop after 500–1000 kills. Be patient.
- Elite and rare vespoids give an increased chance. Watch for the rares Feastsong (coordinates 62, 59) and Tahmod.
- Vespoid Workers can be "tagged" — they are non-aggressive, but call for help when attacked. This lets you quickly amass packs.
- Auction House. The Vespoid Matrix is sold on the Auction House — the price depends on the server (usually 5,000–90,000 gold). If you have the gold, this is the fastest method.
How to Obtain the Pure Bronze Ingot
The
Pure Bronze Ingot is the rarest component for creating the mount. It is used for only two mounts: the Bronzewing Vespoid and the Bronze Gastropod.
Main Source: Stock Overseer
The ingot can be obtained through the Focusing Iris system in Zereth Mortis:
- Reach the Earthen Cache cave at coordinates /way 49.6 31.0.
- Activate the glyph rune on the left wall of the cave to open the Reserve Alcove.
- Choose the 4th dialogue option with the NPC "Stock Overseer": "Restore genesis potency."
- You will receive 20–25 Genesis Motes and a chance at a Pure Bronze Ingot.
Important: the ingot's drop chance is less than 10%, and you can use the Stock Overseer only once a week (reset on Wednesdays). It may take several weeks of attempts.
Access Requirements
- Complete the 6th chapter of the Zereth Mortis campaign (the "Means to an End" achievement)
- Research the necessary branches in the Cypher Console
Alternative Source
The ingot can also drop from Oleahil Supplies, but the probability of this is extremely low.
Creating the Mount
Once all the materials are gathered:
- Head to the Protoform Synthesis vault at coordinates /way 70.18 28.60.
- Interact with the forge and select
Pattern: Bronzewing Vespoid. - Confirm the creation. The mount will appear in your bag.
- Use the item — the Bronzewing Vespoid will be added to your mount collection and become available to all characters on the account.
Other Vespoids from Protoform Synthesis
In addition to the Bronzewing Vespoid, three more vespoids can be created through Protoform Synthesis:
| Mount | Rare Reagent | Matrix |
|---|---|---|
| Pure Bronze Ingot | Vespoid Matrix | |
| Eternal Gale Call | Vespoid Matrix | |
| Eternal Pearl of Wrath | Vespoid Matrix | |
| Crown of the Protovizier | Vespoid Matrix |
All four mounts use the same Vespoid Matrix but different rare components. If you plan to collect them all, farm Vespoid Matrices in advance.
Tips and Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to obtain the mount? From a few days to several weeks. The main limiting factor is the Pure Bronze Ingot with its weekly drop chance.
Can the mount be obtained in the current expansion? Yes. Zereth Mortis and Protoform Synthesis remain available in any expansion. A high-level character will handle the Zereth Mortis mobs with ease.
Are professions required? No. Protoform Synthesis is a separate system unrelated to your character's professions.
Is the mount account-bound? Yes. After creation and use, the Bronzewing Vespoid becomes available to all characters on the account.
Can the materials be bought on the Auction House? The Vespoid Matrix — yes. The Pure Bronze Ingot — no, it is bound to the character on pickup. Genesis Motes are also not sold on the Auction House.
