MoP Classic Feral Druid — Guide (Phase 5)
About the Class
Feral Druid is a melee fighter who spends the entire fight in
Cat Form. It has two resources: energy and combo points, which are spent on bleeds and finishing moves.
The bulk of the damage comes from bleeds —
Rip,
Rake and
Thrash — which are amplified by mastery
Mastery: Razor Claws. So the whole gameplay boils down to two things: never letting your bleeds fall off and applying them while your buffs are up. In a raid, that means high damage plus survivability that is rare for a DPS.
Strengths
- Very high damage ceiling, especially after obtaining the
Rune of Re-Origination. - Tank-level survivability among DPS:
Survival Instincts,
Barkskin,
Might of Ursoc. - Valuable group utility:
Stampeding Roar,
Rebirth,
Innervate,
Symbiosis. - Bleeds keep ticking while moving and when swapping targets.
- Good multi-target damage through
Thrash and
Swipe. - Helps heal the group through
Dream of Cenarius procs.
Weaknesses
- Completely lost the ability to off-tank — that went to Guardian.
Shred requires standing behind the target, which isn't possible everywhere.- Very high difficulty ceiling: energy pooling, buff snapshotting and clipping bleeds punish any carelessness.
- Long ramp-up until Savage Roar and both bleeds are up.
- Suffers badly from target swaps and forced downtime.
Stat Priority
- 1Agility
- 2Hit Rating (up to 7.5%)
- 3Expertise (up to 7.5%)
- 4Mastery
- 5Critical Strike Rating
- 6Haste
Both caps are closed first: while your attacks miss or get dodged, neither mastery nor critical strike does anything. After that, mastery is unrivaled — it boosts your bleeds, and those are the bulk of your damage.
