Fel-Burning Blade — Transmog Set Guide

Fel-Burning Blade is an epic two-handed sword added to World of Warcraft in the Warlords of Draenor expansion (patch 6.2). This is a strength weapon: the item grants strength, stamina, critical strike rating and mastery, so originally it was used by warriors, death knights and melee paladins.

The model follows the signature style of the Hellfire Citadel raid: a massive blade with a greenish Fel glow, searing veins running along the edge and dark demonic detailing on the hilt. The Mythic difficulty version of the item stands out with its rich green incandescence.

In the modern version of the game the item displays as a level 53 weapon with a level 40 requirement — this is the result of recalculating the old raid loot. At the maximum level of 90 in Midnight the stats are irrelevant: the blade is taken purely for its appearance for transmogrification.

The Fel-Burning Blade drops from a raid:

• The source is a council of three bosses called the High Council, the third combat block of the Hellfire Citadel raid.
• The council consists of Gurtogg Bloodboil, Dia Darkwhisper and Blademaster Jubei'thos.
• The raid is located in Tanaan Jungle on Draenor.
• The sword drops on difficulties up to Mythic, and the brightest green coloration corresponds to the Mythic difficulty.
• The limit is one visit per week per character, with the reset happening on the weekly refresh.

Hellfire Citadel belongs to the Warlords of Draenor expansion — this is content several expansions old, so at the maximum level of 90 the raid is cleared solo without difficulty. The council of three bosses required target distribution in a group, but in solo mode all three council members are killed without any problems.

The easiest way to reach the raid is through the portal to Draenor: the entrance is located in Tanaan Jungle, and the final stretch of the path leads to the citadel gates.

The Mythic green coloration is just one variant of this model. The appearance of the same blade drops from the same council on different difficulties, differing in the shade of its glow:

The colorations from lower difficulties look similar but with a less intense incandescence, so when assembling a look it makes sense to farm specifically the Mythic variant for the brightest glow.

• It harmonizes with sets in the green-and-black Fel palette — for example, with the plate sets from the same Hellfire Citadel raid.
• It fits demonic and demon-hunting looks thanks to its green incandescence.
• It contrasts with light plate armor, working as a dark accent element.
• It pairs with other weapons and shields styled after Fel and green fire.
