Overview

Фело'мелорн

Game iconFelo'melorn is a one-handed sword, the artifact weapon of the Fire specialization Mage, added to World of Warcraft in the Legion expansion. It is the legendary heirloom blade of House Sunstrider, wielded at different times by Anasterian and Kael'thas. The blade is wreathed in living flame, and the hilt is crafted in an elven style with golden trim — the weapon literally blazes, which makes it one of the most recognizable Mage blades.

The weapon is available only to Mages. The base appearance is a sword wrapped in fire, and all the other color variants and artifact options are built upon it.

Source

The blade is granted through the Mage story chain during the Legion introductory campaign:

  • A Fire Mage receives Felo'melorn at the very start of getting acquainted with the class hall — the Hall of the Guardian.
  • On a quest, you travel to Icecrown Citadel to claim the blade from Lyandra Sunstrider in a solo scenario.
  • After your victory, you raise the sword and teleport back — the artifact is yours.

Today, in the current expansion, you can obtain the artifact by leveling a Mage and progressing through Legion content: the specialization's introductory scenario remains available, after which the artifact's appearance collection unlocks.

  • The appearance is bound to the class: only a Mage can use the look of Felo'melorn.
  • Once unlocked, the appearance is available to all Mages on the account.

Alternatives

Felo'melorn has several appearance sets, each with its own color variants:

  • Base appearance — Felo'melorn itself, unlocked together with obtaining the artifact. Additional color variants are awarded for developing the artifact and for achievements.
  • Class hall appearance — Pride of the Sunstriders, the variant from the class hall campaign.
  • The Balance of Power appearance — Rebirth of the Phoenix, a reward for a long quest chain.
  • PvP appearance — Lavaborn Blade, unlocked through rated PvP achievements of the Legion seasons.
  • Hidden appearance — Game iconThe Stars' Design, whose tome drops from mobs and rare enemies in Suramar.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Perfectly complements fiery and phoenix-themed Mage looks — the blazing blade sets the entire theme of the set.
  • Harmonizes with the gold-and-red sets of Kael'thas and the blood elves — a nod to House Sunstrider.
  • The hidden appearance The Stars' Design, with its cosmic coloration, suits "starry" and arcane sets.
  • Contrasts with cold, icy sets — a debatable but striking "ice and fire" choice.

Tips

1

Obtain the base appearance first: without it, you cannot unlock the additional color variants of the other sets.

2

The hidden appearance is farmed in Suramar — the tome drops from both regular mobs and rares, so clearing the zone and hunting rares both help.

3

The Balance of Power appearance requires a long quest chain spanning all of Legion — set aside time for it.

4

The PvP appearance Lavaborn Blade is tied to the rating of past seasons, and some of its color variants may already be unavailable.

5

All artifact appearances apply only to Mages, so plan your transmog specifically around that character.

6

Additional color variants of each set unlock separately — check the requirements in the weapon appearances window.
