Merchant's Favor in WoW Forever: Currency, Camps, and Rewards
Overview
Merchant's Favor is the currency used by the trade companies in WoW: Forever. Spend it on profession recipes, title certificates, a pet, a toy, and a mount. The main way to earn it is to find intercepted crates, fill them with materials, and turn them in to your faction's representative.
Characters level 10 and above can take part. You do not need a crafting profession to turn in crates: gather the required materials yourself, get them from another player, or buy them on the auction house.
How the Merchant's Favor System Works
The Azeroth Commerce Authority handles Alliance deliveries, while the Durotar Supply and Logistics handles Horde deliveries. Each organization has a trading camp with a cargo clerk and reward vendors.
The system has two separate types of progress:
- Currency is awarded for filled crates and spent on purchases. It belongs to the character who earns it.
- Reputation increases from the introductory quest, Craftsman's Writs, and turning in crates with a forged invoice. It unlocks some rewards, but does not pay their cost.
For example, buying the mount requires both enough currency and the required reputation. For profession recipes, check the price, skill, and reputation: some high-level recipes require Honored. These requirements appear in the full catalog below.
How to Get Started and Earn Your First Merchant's Favor
- Find an intercepted crate or buy one at the auction house. Its name and description show which materials can fill it.
- Prepare one of the listed material sets.
- Use the crate and select the matching stack in your bags. The resources are consumed and the crate becomes sealed.
- Take the cargo to your faction's trading camp.
- Collect the currency and choose a reward from the appropriate vendor.
Your first filled crate can contain
Shipping Label. This item starts the introductory quest: Shipping Label for the Alliance or Shipping Label for the Horde. You must be level 10 to take it.
The introductory quest awards 50 Merchant's Favor and 2,000 reputation with your trade company. This is a one-time reward per character, separate from turning in a filled crate.
Where to Find the Trading Camps
Alliance
The Azeroth Commerce Authority camp is in Redridge Mountains, at Three Corners, near the road junctions to Elwynn Forest, Duskwood, and Lakeshire.

Marcy Baker accepts filled crates and completes the introductory shipping-label quest.

Tamelyn Aldridge sells the pet, the advertising-license application, and the guild tabard.

Huey Sunnydale sells the mount's reins.

Dianne Softstep sells tools for changing writs and earning reputation. She is south of the main camp.

Horde
The Durotar Supply and Logistics camp is in The Barrens, west of The Crossroads, near the road to Stonetalon Mountains.

Dokimi accepts filled crates and completes the introductory shipping-label quest.

Gishah sells the pet, the advertising-license application, and the guild tabard.

Okamache sells the mount's reins.

Kurvelk Shadowhoof sells tools for changing writs and earning reputation.

How to Fill Crates
Intercepted crates can drop from enemies. Unfilled crates can be traded and bought at the auction house. Once filled, a crate becomes a personal shipment that must be turned in by your character.
A crate has a material category and a level. For example,
Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Herbs accepts one of five options:
Peacebloom — 20 pcs.
Silverleaf — 20 pcs.
Earthroot — 10 pcs.
Mageroyal — 10 pcs.
Briarthorn — 10 pcs.
You do not need to gather all five options. If you choose 20 Peacebloom, you do not need the other herbs for that crate. Put the required amount in one stack and select that stack.
The result is
Sealed Apprentice Crate, a common-quality crate that can be turned in for currency. The green Apprentice's crate has a separate entry:
Sealed Apprentice Crate. Despite sharing a name, the two versions give different rewards.
Which Materials Crates Accept
The crate category determines which resources it accepts. Check the specific item's description: quantities and options vary by crate level.
Category | Accepted Materials |
|---|---|
| Herbs | Herbs of the appropriate level |
| Ore | Ore; it does not need to be smelted first |
| Textiles | Cloth or leather |
| Oddities | Enchanting dust, essences, and shards |
| Cloth | Cloth bolts or cured hides |
| Bars | Smelted metal bars |
| Parts | Engineering parts |
Apprentice and Journeyman crates are available at level 10, Expert crates at level 20, and Artisan crates at level 35. This is a character-level requirement, not a required profession skill.
What to Put in Each Crate
One option per row is enough. The number next to an item is the amount needed for one crate. High-level herbs have separate crates for roots and stems, and for flowering herbs.
How Much Currency Crates Reward
The following rewards apply to the starting crates:
Sealed Crate | Quality | Merchant's Favor |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | Common, white | 5 |
| Apprentice | Uncommon, green | 10 |
| Journeyman | Common, white | 10 |
| Journeyman | Uncommon, green | 20 |
Color affects the reward even when the name is the same. When buying an empty crate, compare both the material cost and the currency awarded for the completed shipment.
The classic
Performance Bonus can grant 100% more currency when you turn in a crate. The bonus is random, so calculate your base purchase cost without it.
Craftsman's Writs
Sealed Craftsman's Writ is a separate type of loot: an envelope containing a crafting order that you can trade to another player or buy at the auction house. You must be level 10 to open it.
Opening the envelope gives you a specific order listing the required item and its recipient. These orders involve Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Engineering, Leatherworking, and Tailoring.
To complete an order:
- Open the envelope and read the requirements.
- Craft the required item or buy one that is already made.
- Check the delivery location in the quest. The recipient may be far from the trading camp.
- Bring both the order and the required item and turn them in to the listed NPC.
Having the profession is convenient, but not required: you can complete an order with a purchased item. Most orders require one item, but always check the quest text for the quantity.
Craftsman's Writs grant reputation and
Coin Pouch. They do not replace filled-crate turn-ins as a way to earn currency. A given writ is a daily quest; this does not mean your character has a shared limit of one writ of any kind.
Writ Level | Reputation Reward |
|---|---|
| Journeyman | 75 |
| Expert | 125 |
| Artisan | 200 |
Before buying an order, check the finished item's cost and the delivery time. A cheap envelope may not be worthwhile if the required item is expensive.
Replacing an Unprofitable Writ
Forger's Quill turns a selected Craftsman's Writ into a random writ of the same level. You need Honored reputation with the trade company to use it.
The feather is sold by Dianne Softstep for the Alliance and Kurvelk Shadowhoof for the Horde. It is consumed on use and does not guarantee that the new order will be cheaper.
Trade Company Reputation
Build reputation alongside your currency supply if you are working toward collection rewards. The main ways to earn it are:
Forged Delivery Receipt lets you attach a forged document to an empty intercepted crate and return it to the trade company. You do not need to fill the crate with materials. The invoices are sold by Dianne Softstep and Kurvelk Shadowhoof.
This option is useful for reputation, but it consumes a crate that could otherwise be filled for currency. First decide which requirement you still need for your chosen reward.
From starting at Neutral, you need 9,000 reputation to reach Honored, 21,000 to reach Revered, and 42,000 to reach Exalted. After the introductory 2,000, you still need 7,000, 19,000, and 40,000, respectively. These totals exclude reputation bonuses.
Profession Recipes and Their Vendors
The camps sell new recipes for gear, consumables, enchants, and engineering devices. Each profession has its own vendor. A character with the right profession and required skill must learn a purchased recipe; buying it does not grant the finished item.
Prices vary by recipe. Some early patterns and plans cost 30 Merchant's Favor, while some formulas and Alchemy recipes cost 45. More advanced designs cost more; Engineering has items priced at 270–360.
Alliance Vendors
All listed vendors are at the camp by Three Corners in Redridge Mountains.
Nina Surefire — Alchemy.

Stondry Darkhammer — Blacksmithing.

Kalsey Sanden — Cooking.

Alynsia — Enchanting.

Fritz Fizzle — Engineering.

Daniel Stitchsong — Leatherworking.

Mivin Shadowweave — Tailoring.

Horde Vendors
All listed vendors are at the camp west of The Crossroads in The Barrens.
Apothecary Durelle — Alchemy.

Gor'mak — Blacksmithing.

Aza'bek — Cooking.

Beneris — Enchanting.

Fizzlefuse — Engineering.

Pawani — Leatherworking.

Jim'bek — Tailoring.

What to Buy First
To level a profession, choose a recipe you can already learn and use. Blacksmiths, leatherworkers, and tailors have inexpensive gear for 30 Merchant's Favor. It is especially useful if it fills a weak equipment slot or makes a popular item to sell.
For Enchanting, compare the available relics and weapon enchants. Recipes are not equally useful to every class, so check the finished item's stats and skill requirement before buying.
For Alchemy and Engineering, prioritize the consumables and devices you actually use. Do not automatically put off all purchases until you reach a high skill: the catalog also includes early recipes.
Below are examples of early items sold at the camps. Each price is for the item's recipe, not for the finished item or the complete set.
Item | Profession | Recipe Price | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tailoring | 30 | Healing gear | |
| Tailoring | 30 | Shadow-damage gear | |
| Tailoring | 30 | Frost gear | |
| Leatherworking | 30 | Leather gear for physical damage | |
| Leatherworking | 30 | Leather gear for casters | |
| Leatherworking | 30 | Alternative leather headpiece | |
| Blacksmithing | 30 | Mail for damage dealers | |
| Blacksmithing | 30 | Mail for healing | |
| Blacksmithing | 30 | Mail gear for defense | |
| Blacksmithing | 30 | Mail for tanking | |
| Enchanting | 45 | Relics for paladins, shamans, and druids |
Formula: Enchant Weapon - Revelation costs 45 Merchant's Favor and requires 140 Enchanting skill. Compare it with the enchants already available to you before buying.
Profession Titles
At skill 300, you can buy a certificate from your profession vendor for 1,000 Merchant's Favor.
Profession | Certificate |
|---|---|
| Alchemy | |
| Blacksmithing | |
| Enchanting | |
| Engineering | |
| Leatherworking | |
| Tailoring |
The certificate unlocks the corresponding title account-wide, but only a character with 300 skill in that profession can display it. The certificate does not raise your skill or replace profession training.
Pet, Toy, Mount, and Tabards
Collection rewards do not require a crafting profession. Some items have reputation requirements, and the mount also requires a character level and riding skill.
Reward | Price in Merchant's Favor | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| 1500 | Revered with the trade company | |
| 1200 | Honored with the Azeroth Commerce Authority | |
| 1200 | Honored with Durotar Supply and Logistics | |
| 6000 | Exalted, level 60, | |
| 200 and 5 gold | Exalted with the Azeroth Commerce Authority | |
| 200 and 5 gold | Exalted with Durotar Supply and Logistics |
Minimule
Packmule Treat teaches you to summon a companion named Minimule. It is sold by Tamelyn Aldridge and Gishah. This is a companion pet, not a mount.
Crafting Sign
The advertising-license application starts a permit quest chain. First use
Massive Pile of Forms, receive
Massive Pile of Completed Forms, and deliver the documents to your trade company's coordinator. Then continue the quest chain: buying the application alone does not grant the toy.
The Alliance reward is
Dwarven Tradeskill Signpost, and the Horde reward is
Orcish Tradeskill Signpost. The toy displays a sign for a learned profession for 1 minute and has a 30-minute cooldown.
Pack Kodo
Reins of the Pack Kodo teaches the mount
Pack Kodo. Both factions can obtain it: from Huey Sunnydale in Redridge Mountains or Okamache in The Barrens.
In addition to 6,000 currency, you need Exalted reputation with your trade company, level 60, and Journeyman Riding. This is one of the system's long-term goals.
How to Spend Less Gold on Merchant's Favor
Compare the total cost of an empty crate plus its filling materials, then divide by the currency reward. This lets you compare different crate categories without relying on changing auction-house prices.
A green Apprentice crate gives twice as much as a white one. It is more efficient in gold per currency if buying and filling it costs less than twice as much. Your own materials also have value: you could sell them instead.
Start with a recipe you can learn and use right away. To buy one for 30 currency, excluding the introductory reward and bonuses, you need 6 white Apprentice crates, 3 green Apprentice crates, or 2 green Journeyman crates. The last option leaves you with 10 currency.
If you are saving for a pet or mount, complete reputation orders at the same time. Otherwise, you may have enough currency but still be unable to buy the reward because your trade-company standing is too low.
All Craftsman's Writs
The tables list 150 orders, 30 for each of the five professions. Skill refers to crafting the required item, not to a requirement for turning in an item you bought. A blank recipient cell means the delivery point has not been confirmed here.
Where to Turn In Craftsman's Writs
The locations below are confirmed recipients from the order list. Check the NPC against the specific quest: orders for one profession can be delivered in different zones.
Alan Sneeks — Alterac Mountains.

Sos'mol — Alterac Mountains.

Kixxle — Wetlands.

Ziz Fizziks — Stonetalon Mountains.

Muggol Breezebeard — Arathi Highlands.

Alyce — Arathi Highlands.

Gorgrash — Hillsbrad Foothills.

Webbed Mudsnout Gnoll — Hillsbrad Foothills.

Kzixx — Duskwood.

Short John Mithril — Stranglethorn Vale.

Scooty — Stranglethorn Vale.

"Plucky" Johnson — Thousand Needles.

Ash'alari — Ashenvale.

Cowardly Peon — Ashenvale.

What Still Needs Confirmation
For rare and high-level crate variants, check the reward in the specific quest: the starting-cargo table does not cover every option. The shared daily limit for different orders and the full recipient list for high-level writs are not confirmed. Do not assume a fixed delivery time without checking your quest timer.
The unlock order for all additional crafting-toy signs also needs further checking. For
Waylaid Crate, which has no category specified, follow its own description rather than using another crate's material list.
Total Cost of a Profession's Catalog
The total includes every catalog entry, including a title certificate if that profession offers one. Crate counts assume a reward of 20 Merchant's Favor and exclude the introductory 50 and random bonuses. This is a collector's estimate, not a required profession goal.
Profession | Entries | Merchant's Favor | Crates at 20 each |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enchanting | 40 | 6790 | 340 |
| Alchemy | 30 | 4900 | 245 |
| Blacksmithing | 62 | 4510 | 226 |
| Leatherworking | 82 | 5620 | 281 |
| Tailoring | 68 | 4120 | 206 |
| Engineering | 29 | 6445 | 323 |
| Cooking | 6 | 300 | 15 |
All Recipes and Certificates
The full catalog contains 317 entries. Each price is in Merchant's Favor for one recipe or certificate. Honored in the last column means that your trade company requires additional reputation. A blank cell means the item listing has no such requirement.
Recipe or Certificate | Skill | Price | Reputation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | 30 | ||
| 100 | 30 | ||
| 125 | 30 | ||
| 180 | 60 | ||
| 200 | 60 | ||
| 250 | 90 | Honored |
