Overview

Slithershell Warglaive

Game iconSlithershell Warglaive is a one-handed paired blade of uncommon quality from the Battle for Azeroth expansion. The model is crafted in naga style: a curved blade with a scaly, almost wet finish and an organic hilt that nods to the underwater fauna of Nazjatar. The look suits demon hunters, and through paired blades it fits any class that can wield this weapon category as a transmog source.

The item's stats have long been irrelevant — it is farmed purely for its appearance. The model's value lies in its recognizable "naga" aesthetic: there are few such blades in the game, and they show up rarely.

Source

The blade drops from elites in the Nazjatar zone — an underwater Battle for Azeroth location — including the rare creature Mirecrawler.

  • The source type is a world rare mob, farmed out in the open world.
  • The "Mirecrawler" is a sea slug that likes to appear on vertical surfaces: cave walls, columns, and ruins. Because of this it is often missed by players who only scan the ground.
  • It has many spawn points all across the zone, and the mob roams between them.
  • If the mob is not visible, you can trigger its spawn by killing ordinary sea slugs and mire crawlers nearby.
  • There is no limit on attempts: kill it on every respawn.

The mob is on the target list for the I Thought You Said They'd Be Rare? achievement, so the hunt for the appearance also makes progress toward that meta-goal.

Approximate coordinates of a few spawn points in Nazjatar:

/way #10052 35.4 47.8 Ильный ползун /way #10052 44.0 63.4 Ильный ползун /way #10052 60.4 28.6 Ильный ползун

Who It Suits Visually

  • Ideal for naga-themed and underwater-cult looks — the scaly finish echoes the armor of Nazjatar.
  • Harmonizes with the blue-green and turquoise color schemes of demon hunter sets.
  • Looks great paired with itself or with a second blade of a similar "sea" palette — dual-wielding amplifies the effect.
  • Contrasts with fiery and infernal demon hunter sets — a debatable but memorable mix of cold and hot themes.

Tips

1

Use a rare-mob tracking addon — it will tell you whether the "Mirecrawler" is alive and at which point it currently is.

2

Inspect vertical surfaces: cave walls, broken columns, and ruins — the mob often hangs there rather than on the ground.

3

If the rare does not appear, clear the ordinary sea slugs nearby — this speeds up its respawn.

4

Bring a character that can move and dive quickly — flying around the points across the large zone takes up a noticeable chunk of time.

5

The same mob has about an 11.7% chance to drop the inv_seaslugredWriggler companion, so farming the look may also net you a pet.

6

The blade's drop rate is low — plan for a series of runs rather than a single attempt.

7

While you're at it, mark off the slain Nazjatar rares for the "I Thought You Said They'd Be Rare?" achievement — farming and the meta-goal combine conveniently.
