Spellboon Saber — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Spellboon Saber is a one-handed sword added to World of Warcraft in the Dragonflight expansion alongside the Algeth'ar Academy dungeon. It is a light, curved blade from the "dragon" line of models: a slender edge with a cold blue-steel sheen and a neat guard free of excessive ornamentation.
Stat-wise it is an intellect weapon — the item carries intellect and is therefore intended for casters and hybrids: the sword is available to priests, paladins, warlocks, monks, evokers, and demon hunters. For transmog, however, the specialization binding doesn't matter: any character able to wield a one-handed sword can lock in this appearance once the item lands in their bag and is learned.
The saber's main appeal is its restrained silhouette. This is not a bulky blade covered in spikes and runes, but an elegant sword that pairs well with a shield or a second light weapon.
Source
The saber drops in the Algeth'ar Academy dungeon — a Dragonflight expansion dungeon located in the Thaldraszus zone on the Dragon Isles.
- The drop source is the boss Vexamus. In terms of clear order, most groups kill him third, although the dungeon journal lists him first.
- The appearance is identical on every dungeon difficulty: Normal, Heroic, and Mythic, including Mythic Keystone mode. It is enough to obtain the item on any one of them.
- The sword drops from Vexamus's general loot table, so there is no guaranteed drop in a single run. If you're unlucky, it makes sense to repeat the dungeon until the appearance drops.
- Timerless Mythic mode is convenient for farming: it can be reset without any limit on the number of runs per day, unlike the weekly raid lockout.
How to reach the entrance:
- Travel to Valdrakken through the portal in your faction's capital.
- Fly to the nearest flight point in Thaldraszus and head toward the Algeth'ar Academy tower. The entrance is at roughly the coordinates
/way #2025 58.3 42.4 Algeth'ar Academy. - After entering, use the air current to leap across the chasm and reach the dungeon's starting hall.
Alternatives / recolors
This model has no known color variations with separate names: the Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulty versions are the same appearance, differing only in item level. If you want a similar light one-handed sword with the same silhouette, take a look at related blades from the same "dragon" line of Dragonflight models that drop in this expansion's dungeons and raids. It's easiest to find them through the in-game transmog preview, comparing silhouette and shade.
Who it suits visually
- Suits light cloth and leather sets in a cold blue-steel palette — the blade doesn't draw attention to itself and works as a tidy accent.
- Looks great in a "sword plus shield" combination on paladins and warriors, when you want a restrained one-handed blade without aggressive design.
- Harmonizes with Dragonflight expansion appearances thanks to the shared "dragon" model styling.
- Fitting for looks focused on magic and enchantments, where the weapon's slender, elegant form matters more than bulk.
Tips
Farm the appearance in timerless Mythic mode: runs aren't limited by time of day, and you can reset the dungeon back to back.
For farming, pick a class with fast movement and good self-healing — that way the clear up to Vexamus goes faster.
Difficulty doesn't affect the look, so for the appearance choose whichever one is easiest for you to clear.
Before a run, check whether you've already gotten the appearance in your collection: there's no point farming an item you've already learned.
If you're going in a group, agree on loot priority — the appearance is needed first by those who don't yet have it in their transmog collection.
A single run on Vexamus can yield other items from his loot table, so along the way check whether any of them are appearances you're still missing.
At low character levels the dungeon scales, but it's most convenient to farm the appearance at the max level of 90 in the Midnight expansion, where old dungeons are soloed without trouble.
