Spellbreaker's Blade — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Spellbreaker's Blade is an epic one-handed sword from the Midnight expansion. Its item level is 246, and it requires level 90 to use. The blade is done in a cold blue-violet palette with energy veins running along the edge and a heavy crossguard, styled around Blood Elf aesthetics and the spellbreaker theme that nods to the defenders of Quel'Danas.
The sword is intended for melee specializations that use strength or agility: it can be obtained by warriors, paladins, death knights, rogues, monks, and demon hunters. For transmogrification it suits any class that can wield one-handed swords — the model is not tied to a specific specialization once the appearance is collected.
Its appearance-matched counterpart is the
Spellbreaker's Warglaive. This is the second one-handed sword of the same set, so the two blades easily make a symmetrical pair for both hands.
Source
The blade drops in the The Voidspire raid — the first major raid of Season 1 of the Midnight expansion, located in the Wastewind. The Wowhead item page notes that it can be obtained when choosing a suitable specialization, meaning it is personal loot from the raid bosses.
- The raid is available on four difficulties: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic.
- Item level 246 corresponds to the raid's mid-range; on higher difficulties, versions with a higher item level and their own appearance drop.
- The appearance unlocks for obtaining the item itself from a boss that adds it to the loot table.
- Obtaining the Mythic version unlocks the appearances of all lower difficulties of the same item without re-farming.
- The sword can only be obtained by melee classes using strength or agility, so the drop chance depends on the group composition and loot distribution.
This appearance has no direct source outside the raid: the catalyst in Moonlight Glade only converts armor (head, shoulders, chest, hands, and legs) and does not work on weapons. Therefore the only path to the appearance is farming the raid.
Who It Suits Visually
- It fits sets in a blue-violet palette with the Void theme from the Season 1 Midnight raids.
- It pairs well with Blood Elf plate sets and appearances in the style of the Quel'Danas spellbreakers.
- It harmonizes with the second blade of the set — the
Spellbreaker's Warglaive — for a symmetrical pair in both hands. - It contrasts with warm gold and crimson sets, so it suits looks in a red-and-gold palette less well.
Tips
The sword drops only in the The Voidspire raid, so plan regular runs at the desired difficulty until you get the appearance.
If you care about the appearance rather than the stats, run the raid on Raid Finder — the item drops there too and unlocks the appearance.
Obtaining the Mythic version immediately unlocks the appearances of all lower difficulties, which saves farming time.
The sword is available only to melee warriors using strength or agility, so it will not appear in the loot for cloth- and leather-wearing characters without weapon skills.
For a symmetrical pair, collect both blades of the set — the
Spellbreaker's Blade and the
Spellbreaker's Warglaive.
The appearance is tied to your account collection: once you unlock it on one character, you can apply the transmogrification on all eligible classes.
