Amalgam of Rage
Overview

Reins of the Amalgam of Rage is an epic flying mount added in patch 10.0.2 (Dragonflight). It is a crossover mount created as part of a joint promotion between World of Warcraft and Diablo IV. In appearance, the mount is a fiery, demonic winged creature inspired by the world of Sanctuary.
According to the item's description: "The terrifying beast once ridden by Astaroth himself now bends to your will."
When you use the /mountspecial command, the mount unfurls its enormous flaming wings, making it one of the most spectacular mounts in any collection.
Why You Want This Mount
- A unique crossover mount with an exclusive demonic model unlike any other mount in the game
- A flying mount — supports both ground and air travel
- Account-bound — available on every character on your account
- Earning it unlocks the achievement "Return to Darkness"
- Collector's value — the mount is only available during promotional periods, which makes it rare
Requirements
- A character at level 10 or higher
- The Apprentice Riding skill for ground travel
- The Expert Riding skill or higher for flying
- A Battle.net account with linked games (World of Warcraft and Diablo IV)
How to Get It
The Amalgam of Rage is a promotional mount that was granted automatically to players who met the conditions of one of Blizzard's promotions. The mount cannot be obtained through in-game content: it does not drop from bosses, it is not sold by vendors, and it is not available for in-game currency.
How It's Awarded
The mount is tied to a purchase of Diablo IV on the same Battle.net account you use to play World of Warcraft. Over time, the promotion ran several times in different formats:
- Diablo IV pre-order (December 8, 2022 – June 6, 2023). Any edition — Standard, Digital Deluxe, or Ultimate.
- Purchasing the expanded editions of Diablo IV (June 6 – November 3, 2023). After the game launched, the mount was granted for purchasing the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate edition.
- The War Within and Vessel of Hatred joint promotion (December 17, 2024 – January 7, 2025). The mount was granted to players who owned both World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred on the same Battle.net account.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1 — Check Current Promotions
Since the mount is only available during promotions, your first step is to check the current offers:
- Visit the official Blizzard Shop
- Browse the promotions and bonuses section on the official World of Warcraft site
- Follow Blizzard news — such promotions are always announced in advance
Step 2 — Meet the Promotion's Conditions
If a promotion is active, purchase the required product (Diablo IV or the relevant expansion) through Battle.net. Important: the purchase must be made on the same Battle.net account you use to play World of Warcraft.
Step 3 — Claim the Mount in Game
- Once you have met the promotion's conditions, log in to World of Warcraft
- The mount will appear automatically in your mailbox or directly in your Mount Journal
- If the mount arrives by mail — open the letter and use the attached Reins of the Amalgam of Rage
- After use, the mount is added to your collection permanently and is available on every character on the account
Step 4 — Summon the Mount
Open the Mount Journal (default key Shift+P), find the Amalgam of Rage using search, and drag it onto your action bar.
Current Availability
As of April 2026, none of the promotions that granted the mount are active. The last promotion ended on January 7, 2025.
However, Blizzard has repeatedly brought this mount back in various promotions, so there is a chance it will reappear in the future. We recommend:
- Regularly checking the Battle.net Shop and Blizzard news
- Subscribing to Blizzard notifications so you don't miss new promotions
- Keeping an eye on major events (new expansion launches, game anniversaries), during which Blizzard most often runs promotions like this
Tips
Don't buy keys from third-party sellers. Some players try to obtain the mount by buying Diablo IV keys from unofficial sellers. Such keys may fail to activate the promotional rewards or may lead to an account suspension.
Check your account links. Make sure your World of Warcraft and Diablo IV games are linked to the same Battle.net account. If they are on separate accounts, the mount will not be granted.
The mount is awarded automatically. You don't need to perform any additional in-game actions — after the purchase, simply wait for it to be credited. The mount usually appears within 24 hours of meeting the promotion's conditions.
If the mount didn't appear. Try logging back into the game and check the mailbox on all of your characters. If the problem persists, contact Blizzard support.
The /mountspecial command. Be sure to try using /mountspecial while riding the Amalgam of Rage — the mount will reveal its impressive fiery wings.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
