Overview

Amani Battle Bear

Game iconAmani Battle Bear is an epic ground mount added in the Cataclysm expansion. It is a massive brown bear adorned with the ritual masks and amulets of the Amani tribe. The mount is a guaranteed drop from Kasha's Bag after successfully completing the timed run in the Zul'Aman dungeon on Heroic difficulty. The achievement Bear-ly Made It is also tied to completing the run.

The Amani Battle Bear replaced the original The Burning Crusade-era mount, the Amani War Bear, which was removed from the game in patch 3.0.2 and is no longer obtainable. The current version of the mount has an updated model and is available to all players.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed drop — unlike most rare mounts, the Amani Battle Bear drops 100% of the time when you meet the timed-run requirement. You don't have to rely on luck
  • Unique model — the bear in tribal armor with ritual masks and amulets stands out among other ground mounts. The model was updated in patch 8.0.1
  • Quick to get — at max level the entire dungeon can be cleared solo in 5–7 minutes, including the timed run
  • Lore connection — the mount references the culture of the Amani trolls and their worship of the bear god Nalorakk. It is one of the few things preserved from the reworked Zul'Aman
  • Achievement included — along with the mount you earn the Bear-ly Made It achievement, tied to rescuing all four captives

How to Obtain

The mount is awarded for completing the timed run in Zul'Aman on Heroic difficulty. You must defeat the four Loa priest bosses and rescue four captives before they are sacrificed. The timer is 25 minutes.

  1. Set the dungeon to Heroic difficulty through your character portrait menu
  2. Enter Zul'Aman and strike the gong at the gate — this starts the countdown
  3. Defeat the four bosses in the recommended order within the allotted time
  4. After defeating the final boss (Halazzi), find the captive Kasha in a cage near the boss arena
  5. Talk to Kasha — she will smash several vases. Kasha's Bag appears in the last vase (in the northeast corner)
  6. Take the mount from the bag

Only one mount drops — if you are in a group, you will have to roll for it. On a solo run the bear is yours automatically.

How to Reach Zul'Aman

Zul'Aman is located in the eastern part of the Ghostlands zone in the Eastern Kingdoms.

For the Horde

  1. Use your hearthstone to Dalaran (Broken Isles) and take the portal to Silvermoon
  2. Leave Silvermoon and use the flight master to the nearest point in the Ghostlands
  3. Fly east to the entrance of Zul'Aman

For the Alliance

  1. Head to the Eastern Plaguelands (portal from Stormwind to the Portal Room or a flight)
  2. Find the Northpass Tower in the northern part of the zone
  3. Follow the road north through the gate into the Ghostlands
  4. At the first fork, turn east and travel to Zul'Aman

Entrance Coordinates

/way Ghostlands 80.9 64.9 Zul'Aman (entrance)

The dungeon entrance is located beyond the gong at the main gate. Before entering, make sure the difficulty is set to Heroic — the timed run and the mount are available only on this difficulty.

Boss Order for the Timed Run

The timer starts at 15 minutes. Defeating the first and second bosses adds 5 minutes each, for a total of 25 minutes. Recommended order:

1. Akil'zon (Eagle)

Akil'zon is the first boss, located on a platform in the upper part of the dungeon. At level 80 he dies instantly. After the victory the timer increases by 5 minutes. The captive Hexlord stands near the boss.

2. Nalorakk (Bear)

Nalorakk is the second boss, waiting on a bridge. Groups of troll scouts are stationed along the way to him. At max level all enemies die in a single hit. After the victory the timer increases by another 5 minutes. The captive Bakkalzu is nearby.

3. Jan'alai (Dragonhawk)

Jan'alai is the third boss. He is located beyond the plaza with the dragonhawk eggs. At high level the fight lasts a few seconds. The victory does not add time to the timer. The captive Norkani is nearby.

4. Halazzi (Lynx)

Halazzi is the fourth and final mandatory boss for the run. After his death the captive Kasha is freed, and she hands over the bag with the mount. Halazzi must be killed last, because the bag's appearance is tied specifically to him.

Farming Optimization

Solo Run at Level 80

At max level (90 in Midnight) Zul'Aman can be cleared solo by any class and specialization. All bosses die in seconds, and trash enemies pose no threat. A full run of the timed clear takes 5–7 minutes.

Tips for Speeding Up

  • Use your mount between bosses — most enemies do not attack a mounted player, and you can ride past unnecessary packs
  • Stick strictly to the route: Akil'zon, Nalorakk, Jan'alai, Halazzi. This order is optimal in terms of the bosses' placement in the dungeon
  • Don't linger on trash enemies — kill only those that block the path or are needed to activate a boss

Daily Reset

Heroic dungeons reset daily, not weekly. If the mount didn't drop for another reason (for example, you didn't make the timer), you can try again the next day. However, on a solo run at max level, making the 25-minute timer is no trouble at all.

Additional Loot

While in Zul'Aman, keep an eye out for the Game iconMojo pet. Use the Game iconAmani Hex Stick on the forest frogs found in the dungeon. One of the frogs will turn into Mojo — a collectible battle pet.

Tips

1

Check the difficulty before entering — the timed run and the mount are available exclusively on Heroic difficulty. If you entered on Normal, leave, switch the difficulty, and re-enter

2

Use the gong at the gate — the run timer starts when you strike the gong. Do not confuse it with the regular dungeon entrance

3

Halazzi is always last — the fourth priest boss is the one who frees Kasha with the bag. If you kill the bosses in a different order but Halazzi is last, the mount will still be available

4

The mount goes to one player — there is only one copy of the mount in the bag. On a solo run it is yours. In a group, members roll for it

5

Combine it with other farming — after getting the bear you can keep clearing the dungeon for gold, transmog, or the Mojo pet

6

Don't confuse it with the original — the original The Burning Crusade-era Amani War Bear was removed from the game in 2008 and is no longer obtainable. The current mount is from Cataclysm

7

The achievement is awarded once — Bear-ly Made It is granted on your first successful rescue of all four captives and stays in your log forever

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
