Ardenweald Wilderling Harness
Overview

Ardenweald Wilderling Harness — an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" of the Shadowlands expansion. This graceful creature from the forests of Ardenweald resembles a fox-serpent adorned with plant-like elements on its body. The mount automatically appears in your bag upon reaching Renown level 45 with the Night Fae covenant.
The item description reads: "As anima flows once more to the far groves of Ardenweald, the wilderlings awaken and carefully emerge from their hiding places in the treetops." The Ardenweald Wilderling is one of four mounts in the wilderling family, each distinguished by color and method of acquisition.
Why You Want This Mount
- Guaranteed acquisition — the mount does not rely on random drops. Upon reaching Renown level 45 with the Night Fae, you will automatically receive it in your character's bag
- Unique model — the wilderling is a creature exclusive to Ardenweald: a cross between a fox and a serpent, adorned with foliage and glowing elements. This model is not found outside Shadowlands content
- Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Speed depends on your riding skill: from +60% on the ground to +310% in flight
- Account-wide — once learned, the mount becomes available to all characters on your account. Upon reaching Renown 80 with the Night Fae, the covenant restriction is lifted, and the mount can be used by characters of any covenant
- Part of the collection — obtaining all four wilderlings (Ardenweald, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) will delight mount collectors and bring you closer to achievements for the number of mounts
How to Obtain
To obtain the mount, you must be a member of the Night Fae covenant and reach Renown level 45. No additional gold or materials are required.
- Complete the main Shadowlands campaign by progressing through all four zones: Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth. The campaign becomes available upon entering the Shadowlands

Ardenweald Wilderling Harness will automatically appear in your bag - Use the item to learn the mount and add it to your collection

Ardenweald is one of the four main zones of the Shadowlands. The Night Fae covenant sanctuary, Heart of the Forest, is located in the center of the zone.

Leveling Renown to 45
Renown is the main covenant progression system in Shadowlands. The maximum Renown level is 80. Renown level 45 is sufficient to obtain the mount.
Weekly Quests (main source)
Each week, two quests are available, each granting one Renown level:
- Replenish the Reservoir — collect 1,000 Anima from any source (world quests, dungeons, raids, chests)
- Return Lost Souls — rescue souls from The Maw. The number of souls required depends on your current Renown level
Covenant Campaign
The Night Fae campaign consists of nine chapters. Each completed chapter grants one Renown level. New chapters unlock as your Renown increases.
Catch-up Mechanic
If you have fallen behind the current Renown cap or are leveling an alternate character, additional Renown levels drop from:
- Final bosses of dungeons
- Raid bosses
- PvP victories
- Callings (daily tasks)
- Random rewards from world quests
This mechanic is active until you reach the current cap and significantly speeds up leveling.
Instant Boost
The item
Broker Mark of Distinction instantly raises the current covenant's Renown to level 60. It is purchased for 500 gold from Au'Dara near the Oribos Flight Master and is available to characters on an account where at least one character has already reached Renown 80. This allows you to completely skip the grind to level 45 and immediately receive the mount.
Farming Optimization
Daily Plan
- Complete all available world quests in Ardenweald and other Shadowlands zones — they provide Anima for the weekly quest
- Check whether a new chapter of the covenant campaign is available — this is a guaranteed Renown level
- Complete the daily Calling — it rewards Anima and may grant a Renown level when the catch-up mechanic is active
- Visit The Maw to complete the weekly soul rescue quest
How Long Will It Take
- With the Broker Mark of Distinction — instantly. Buy the item, use it, and receive the mount right away
- Without a boost, with the catch-up mechanic — approximately 1–2 weeks of active play. The catch-up mechanic allows you to gain multiple Renown levels per day from various sources
Optimal Route for a New Character
- Reach max level and complete the Shadowlands campaign
- Choose the Night Fae covenant
- If the Broker Mark of Distinction is available — use it immediately
- If not — complete weekly quests, the covenant campaign, and take advantage of the catch-up mechanic
- Upon reaching Renown 45, the mount will automatically appear in your bag
Tips
1
Use the Broker Mark of Distinction — if you have a character with a high Renown level, this item allows you to instantly reach level 60 on an alternate character, immediately granting the mount
2
Combine your progression — running dungeons and raids not only provides gear but also Renown levels through the catch-up mechanic. Don't spend all your time exclusively on world quests
3
Watch the campaign — covenant campaign chapters unlock as your Renown increases. Don't skip them: each chapter is a guaranteed Renown level
4
Anima is easiest to collect in dungeons — one run of a Heroic or Mythic dungeon provides a significant amount of Anima, speeding up the weekly quest
5
Don't forget The Maw — the weekly soul rescue quest from The Maw is required to earn a Renown level. Complete it at the start of each week
6
The mount is account-wide — level your Renown on whichever character is most convenient for you. Once learned, the mount will be available to all your characters
