Armored Chosen Tauralus

Armored Chosen Tauralus is a ground mount added to World of Warcraft with the release of the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.0.1). It is a massive two-tailed beast of the House of the Chosen, clad in the heavy bone armor of Maldraxxus. The item description states that the tauralus needs both of its tails to swat away the swarming bloodsuckers.

The mount is mailed to you for completing the meta-achievement Things To Do When You're Dead, which is earned at the abomination factory of the Necrolord covenant in Seat of the Primus. The achievement and its reward remain Necrolord exclusives even after the patch 9.1.5 changes that made covenant cosmetics account-wide.

• Rare Shadowlands cosmetic — fewer than 2% of players own the mount according to Wowhead statistics, making it one of the most recognizable symbols of completing the Necrolord covenant.
• A title as well — together with the mount you receive the title "Master of Abominations", which underlines your status as a collector.
• The full set of tauraluses — this is the armored version of the Chosen Tauralus, and the full collector's set includes three armored variants: the Armored Bonehoof Tauralus and the Armored Plaguerot Tauralus.
• Account-wide access — once obtained, the mount is bound to your account and available to all your characters, including non-Necrolords.
• A reason to return to Maldraxxus — the whole chain requires extended covenant content and lets you wrap up several parallel rewards at once: pets, abomination companions and the currency of the Stitchmasters' court.

• Character level: at least 60 to access the Shadowlands campaign. At the current max level (80, The War Within) all of the content is cleared without trouble.
• Expansion: the Shadowlands campaign. You must complete the introductory Shadowlands chain up to choosing a covenant.
• Covenant: Necrolords only. If you belong to another covenant, switch through the representative in Oribos (after patch 9.1.5 switching is free with no renown to recover).
• Covenant campaign: you must complete the quest Welcome to Our Home and the basic tasks that unlock the sanctum Seat of the Primus.
• Sanctum upgrade: purchase the "Abomination Crafting" upgrade from Arkady Moa in the main hall of the Seat of the Primus. It costs Reservoir Anima and Cleansed Souls.
• Stitchmasters reputation: some of the cosmetic accessories are sold only for reputation levels earned by completing daily/weekly errands from the abominations.

1. Enter Maldraxxus through the portal in Oribos (if you are already pledged to the Necrolords you can use a hearthstone to the sanctum).
2. Enter the Seat of the Primus — the covenant's main building.
3. In the main hall on the left, next to the renown quartermaster, find Arkady Moa and open the sanctum upgrades screen.
4. Buy the first rank of the "Abomination Crafting" upgrade, then, if you wish, the second and third ranks for additional anima links.
5. After the purchase, the abomination factory opens on the first floor of the Seat of the Primus, with the Abomination Stitching Table and the NPC Emeni — the keeper of recipes.

The mount arrives by mail right after you close out the meta-achievement Things To Do When You're Dead. It consists of four achievements, each tied to a separate mechanic of the abomination factory.

1. For the Life of the Abominations — 32 servant quests

Each stitched abomination hands out its own unique quest once a week. Some tasks require visiting zones outside Maldraxxus (Ardenweald, Bastion, Revendreth), others call for combat, item gathering or talking to an NPC. To finish the achievement you need to collect all 16 servants and complete their quests in sequence over the course of 4–6 weeks.

• Tasks reset with the weekly reset.
• Quests are given out at random from a large pool, but each specific abomination has a limited set of tasks.
• The achievement cannot be skipped with currency or a raid — only time and regular visits.

2. Glad You Could Make It — 16 abomination companions

Stitching requires two resources:

• Malleable Flesh — drops from Shadowlands mobs.
• Quality Parts — rewarded for the weekly "special orders" errands from the Stitchmasters.

Thirteen abominations unlock as you stitch the standard recipes. Three require special conditions:

• Miru Soulthorn — complete a quest chain at the House of Constructs at coordinates /way #1536 24.5 31.6.
• Nox — obtain Necromantic Oil from an NPC in the House of Rituals.
• Niina — free a captive in a cage on Putrescent Hill at /way #1536 69.7 41.1.

3. A New Wardrobe — 25 accessories

Cosmetic accessories are crafted at the same table as the abominations. There are four categories: head, shoulders, back and miscellaneous trinkets. Recipes are bought from the Stitchmasters (Margrave Stradama, Master of Constructs) for reputation and covenant currency. Any 25 accessories of any category are enough to finish the achievement — you don't have to collect everything.

4. Wraps of War — 100 anima-empowered wraps

The final part requires delivering one hundred Anima-Empowered Wraps to Summoner Gerard. The wraps are crafted at the very same abomination stitching table and require 2 Twilight Cloth each — so the total cost comes to 200 Twilight Cloth. Twilight Cloth is produced through the Tailoring profession in the Shadowlands or bought on the auction house.

• You can turn them in one wrap at a time — progress is never reset.
• The wraps also play a part in the mass summon of the world boss Vesktus, the Wailing Wraith, but only the total contribution counts toward the achievement.

1. Complete the introductory Shadowlands campaign and choose the Necrolords covenant. If you are already in another covenant, switch through the representative in Oribos.
2. Finish the Necrolord campaign up to unlocking the sanctum Seat of the Primus.
3. Build up Reservoir Anima and buy the "Abomination Crafting" upgrade from Arkady Moa. If you wish, raise it to the third rank for access to the best recipes.
4. Start stitching abominations. Gather Malleable Flesh out in the zones and take the weekly orders to obtain Quality Parts.
5. In parallel, clear the special conditions for Miru Soulthorn, Nox and Niina to complete the achievement Glad You Could Make It.
6. Complete the quests from your finished abominations every week. This stage is the longest — set aside 4–6 weeks for the achievement For the Life of the Abominations.
7. Buy accessory recipes from the Stitchmasters and craft 25 of them for A New Wardrobe.
8. Stockpile 200 Shrouded Cloth, stitch 100 Anima-Empowered Wraps and turn them in to Summoner Gerard for Wraps of War.
9. After the four achievements are closed, the meta-achievement Things To Do When You're Dead triggers automatically. The mount and the title "Master of Abominations" will arrive by mail at the nearest mailbox.

Stretch out the week

The achievement For the Life of the Abominations requires at least 32 weekly quests, and no alt will speed up the process in parallel — the Necrolords' weekly quests do not stack across alts toward the count. Plan for 4–8 weeks of regular visits on Wednesday (Europe) or Tuesday (North America).

Parallel goals

While farming resources for the abominations you simultaneously build up Stitchmasters reputation, earn Necrolord renown, unlock new cosmetic masks and get a chance at rare recipes. Don't dedicate time to the tauralus alone — use the same session to close out Fashionable Abomination and to collect the Chosen Tauralus through adjacent quests.

Craft wraps in batches

The wraps require 200 Twilight Cloth. Buying them in batches on the auction house during off-peak hours is usually more cost-effective than tailoring them solo. If you have a level 60+ Shadowlands tailor, farm the cloth from mobs in Revendreth or Ardenweald over 1–2 days and save gold.

Abomination quests

Some servant tasks are completed faster than others. Keep every abomination active so that quests with short completions (talk to an NPC, gather 5 items) drop each week. Leave the longer quests that require visiting Revendreth or Ardenweald for the end of the week — they can be combined with your daily zone rotation.
