Armored Golden Pterrordax

Armored Golden Pterrordax is an epic flying mount added in patch 10.0.5 of the Dragonflight expansion. It is a massive Zandalari-origin pterosaur, fully clad in gilded armor: an ornately carved helm on its head, gold plating over the chest and wings, and powerful legs crowned with heavy fanged bracers. According to the mount journal description, these pterrordax "patrol the skies above the tomb of Atal'Dazar".

The mount is purchased at the Trading Post for 800 Trader's Tender. Unlike its counterpart, the Cobalt Pterrordax from Battle for Azeroth, which is available only to Horde characters at Exalted with the Zandalari Empire, the golden version is open to both factions and is account-wide — meaning it automatically becomes available to every character on your account.

The Armored Golden Pterrordax first appeared in the Trading Post lineup in January 2024, then returned to the rotation in February 2026. It is currently on pause and periodically returns to the monthly selection.

• Guaranteed acquisition — unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, the Armored Golden Pterrordax is bought for a fixed amount of Trader's Tender. As soon as the item appears in the month's lineup, you obtain it with a 100% chance.
• Flying mount — unlike many Trading Post rewards, this mount fully flies. At maximum riding skill it uses standard flight speed, making it a convenient mount for everyday activities.
• Available to both factions — the original Cobalt Pterrordax is sold only to the Horde in Zuldazar. The golden version is account-wide and open to Alliance, Horde, and neutral-race characters.
• Bright golden coloring — the fully gilded, engraved armor stands out among the other terrordax model variants and looks striking in capital cities and during world boss assaults.
• Low level requirements — the mount is available from level 10 and the basic riding skill, which makes it a suitable choice for fresh characters and alts.

To obtain the mount, you need to wait for a month when the Armored Golden Pterrordax appears in the Trading Post lineup, and then accumulate 800 Trader's Tender.

1. Check the current Trading Post lineup. Visit the vendor in Stormwind (for Alliance) or Orgrimmar (for Horde) and open the post interface.
2. Make sure the Armored Golden Pterrordax item is available in the current month. The lineup refreshes on the 1st of each month.
3. Accumulate at least 800 Trader's Tender. Each month, every player automatically receives 500 tender through the "Collector's Cache" and can earn another 500 through the "Traveler's Log".
4. Visit the Trading Post vendor and buy the item for 800 Trader's Tender.
5. Use the item from your inventory to add the mount to your collection. It will appear in the "Mounts" tab and become available to every character on your account.

The Trading Post is a monthly event available in the two main capitals. The selection of goods is the same at every location; only the vendor's placement differs.

Alliance — Stormwind

The Trading Post is located in Stormwind's Trade District, next to the bank and the auction house. Look for the distinctive building with a bright sign and a display of the month's goods. A mannequin of the current lineup's mount stands next to the vendor, letting you preview the model in advance.

Horde — Orgrimmar

The Trading Post is in Orgrimmar's Valley of Strength, not far from the central plaza. The building is noticeable from afar thanks to its distinctive sign with scales and the advertising banners by the entrance.

How to Check the Lineup

Interacting with the vendor opens the Trading Post interface, which displays all goods available in the current month. Use the "Mounts" filter to quickly find the Armored Golden Pterrordax if it is on the list. Hover over the item to see its cost and description.

Trader's Tender is the main Trading Post currency. Buying the mount requires 800 units, which is 80% of an active player's monthly income.

Monthly Collector's Cache

At the start of each month, every player with an active subscription automatically receives 500 Trader's Tender through the "Collector's Cache" item. The cache appears in the mailbox or directly in the inventory when you log in on the 1st.

Traveler's Log

The "Traveler's Log" is a monthly list of tasks for which you receive additional Trader's Tender. Completing all tasks adds another 500 tender on top of the monthly cache. The tasks include:

• Wins in battlegrounds and arenas
• Clearing dungeons and raids of any difficulty
• Gathering profession materials
• Completing world quests in various expansions
• Visiting key locations and taking part in seasonal events

Accumulating Between Months

Unspent Trader's Tender carries over between months. This lets you save up currency for more expensive items, including the Armored Golden Pterrordax. If the mount is unavailable in the current month, keep saving tender until the next rotation.

Freeze Function

If the Armored Golden Pterrordax appears in the lineup but you don't have enough tender, use the freeze function. It lets you reserve one item that will remain available the following month, even if it is removed from the general rotation.

The Armored Golden Pterrordax is not a permanent Trading Post item. Blizzard periodically returns it to the lineup, but the exact schedule is not announced in advance.

Appearance History

To avoid missing the mount's return, follow news about the monthly Trading Post updates on Blizzard's official site. Each month's lineup is usually announced a few days before it begins.

The terrordax model is used by several mounts of different colorings added in Battle for Azeroth and later expansions. If you collect terrordax, take a look at the other variants.

The Armored Golden Pterrordax and the Reins of the Crimson Pterrordax are the most accessible options for collectors, since they require no faction lock and can be obtained by a character of either side through the Trading Post.
