Get Armored Razzashi Raptor mount
Overview

Armored Razzashi Raptor is a rare ground mount that drops from Bloodlord Mandokir in the Zul'Gurub dungeon on Heroic difficulty. This mount was added in patch 4.1.0 as a replacement for the original
Swift Razzashi Raptor, which became unavailable after Zul'Gurub was reworked from a raid into a dungeon. The drop chance is about 1%, so be prepared for a long farm.
Why You Want This Mount
The Armored Razzashi Raptor is one of the most recognizable mounts in World of Warcraft, inheriting its iconic status from its predecessor in the original Zul'Gurub. It is a large raptor clad in red armor and a great addition to any mount collector's roster. It is especially prized by Alliance players, since raptors are traditionally considered Horde mounts.
Requirements and Prerequisites
- Character level: 10 or higher
- Riding skill: Apprentice Riding (75)
- Dungeon difficulty: Heroic
- The mount is Bind on Pickup and is account-wide
- The dungeon is easily cleared solo on any max-level character
How to Get to the Location

For the Alliance:

Mount Source
Primary source — Zul'Gurub (Heroic)
Armored Razzashi Raptor drops from the boss Bloodlord Mandokir in the Zul'Gurub dungeon on Heroic difficulty. The drop chance is approximately 1%.
Alternative sources
- Black Market Auction House: the mount may appear at the Black Market Auction House. It was added to the loot pool in patch 8.2.5. The average price ranges from 1,000,000 to 4,000,000 gold depending on the trading activity on your server.
Reins of the Quantum Courser: this item drops from Chrono-Lord Deios in the Dawn of the Infinite dungeon on Mythic difficulty. When used, it teaches a random mount from the pool of legacy dungeon mounts, and the Armored Razzashi Raptor is part of that list.
Step-by-Step Farming Guide
Step 1 — Preparation
- Make sure the dungeon difficulty is set to Heroic. To do this, right-click your character portrait and select "Dungeon Difficulty: Heroic".
- Prepare as many max-level characters as possible for your daily attempts.
Step 2 — Enter the dungeon
- Reach the Zul'Gurub entrance in Northern Stranglethorn.
- Enter the dungeon.
Step 3 — Path to Mandokir
- From the entrance, head east, then turn south.
- Along the way you will hit a steep slope where large boulders roll down. Dodge them while mounted — they move slowly.
- Most regular enemies can be run past, except for the guard at the gate before Mandokir's arena — he has to be dealt with.
Step 4 — Fighting Mandokir
- Mandokir is on a large arena.
- On a max-level character the fight takes a few seconds.
- Grab the loot and check whether the
Armored Razzashi Raptor dropped.
Step 5 — Bonus boss
While you are in Zul'Gurub, you can also take out High Priestess Kilnara, who drops another rare mount — the
Swift Zulian Panther. The drop chance is similar — about 1%.
Farm Optimization
- Daily reset. Zul'Gurub on Heroic difficulty has a daily reset. The reset happens at 11:00 server time (for the NA region) or 08:00 (for the EU region). This means each character can make one attempt per day.
- Multiple characters. The most effective way to speed up the farm is to use as many max-level characters as possible. If you have 10 characters, you get 10 attempts per day instead of one.
- Fast route. Run past all regular enemies, killing only the mandatory gate guard. A full run to Mandokir takes 2-3 minutes.
- Combining farms. Don't forget to kill High Priestess Kilnara for the
Swift Zulian Panther — two mounts in a single run. - Statistical estimate. With a drop chance of about 1% and one attempt per day per character, you will need about 100 attempts on average. With 10 characters that is roughly 10 days of daily farming.
Tips and Tricks
- Hunters and Warlocks: if you are farming on a low-level character, be sure to dismiss your pet before the fight with Mandokir. He can cast Decapitate on your pet and then on you, which leads to instant death.
- Hearthstone binding: set your hearthstone to the nearest inn or use other fast-travel options to cut down the time between runs on different characters.
- Black Market Auction House: if you have enough gold, check the Black Market Auction House regularly. This lets you get the mount without farming, though the price can reach several million gold.
- Themed companions: if you obtain the mount, pair it with a thematic pet — the
Razzashi Hatchling or the
Lashtail Hatchling complete the look perfectly. - Don't forget the
Reins of the Quantum Courser: while running Dawn of the Infinite on Mythic difficulty, there is an additional chance to obtain this mount.
