Armored Leyline Vorquin

Armored Leyline Vorquin is an epic ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Dragonflight expansion (patch 10.0.0). It is one of the eight racial vorquins of the dracthyr — the riding beasts of the Dragon Isles that dragonkind have long used as war steeds. The mount depicts a massive vorquin in heavy plate armor with a sharp spiked headpiece and the distinctive color scheme of dragonkind.

The item description reads: "Armored vorquins are trained in ancient dracthyr techniques and used by the finest tactical cavalry units." Visually, vorquins resemble a cross between a horse and a dragon: a powerful body, scaled hide along the spine, a long mane, and bony growths. The armored versions, unlike the regular ones, are adorned with black plates and look like a parade formation steed.

Originally, vorquins were available only to the dracthyr, but with the release of patch 10.0.7 "Return to the Forbidden Reach" (March 21, 2023) all factions gained the ability to purchase them by reaching Exalted reputation with the Obsidian Wardens (Alliance) or the Dark Talons (Horde).

• Unique dracthyr model — vorquins use an exclusive skeleton and animations that differ from standard horses and dragons. The armored version stands out among them with its parade black armor.
• Maximum ground travel speed — the mount gains a +60% or +100% movement speed bonus depending on your riding skill.
• Account-wide availability — once purchased, the mount unlocks for all characters on your account, including characters of the opposite faction.
• One of eight collectible vorquins — it lets you complete the full collection of dracthyr racial mounts, now open to players of all races.
• Permanent source — the vendors Treysh and Tethalash will not disappear with new patches, so the mount can be obtained at any time.

The main path to the mount is to save up 80 gold and reach Exalted with one of the two dracthyr factions, after which you purchase the item from the corresponding vendor. Dracthyr-race players buy the mount with no reputation requirement.

1. Create a dracthyr character or raise reputation on any other character. Dracthyr have no requirements — they can buy the mount immediately upon reaching level 10.
2. Raise reputation with the Obsidian Wardens for the Alliance or the Dark Talons for the Horde up to Exalted (84,000 points)
3. Fly to the Forbidden Reach via the portal in Valdrakken or use the dracthyr starting zone
4. Find the vendor Treysh in the Morqut Village on the Forbidden Reach or Tethalash on the western side of Valdrakken
5. Purchase the Armored Leyline Vorquin for 80 gold
6. Use the item from your bag — the mount is permanently added to your collection

The vorquins are split into two categories: four common (blue quality) for 40 gold and four epic (purple quality) for 80 gold. Each mount is sold by the same vendors under the same conditions.

The four common vorquins (bronze, crimson, obsidian, sapphire) can be obtained for free during the dracthyr starting storyline — one of your choice is awarded for the quest No Cavalry, No Problem.

For non-dracthyr players, the path to the mount runs through grinding one of the dracthyr factions to the maximum Exalted level (84,000 points). Only one of the factions works — either for the Alliance or for the Horde, depending on your side.

• Daily and story quests of the zone — each daily quest gives about 450 reputation points, ordinary local quests — 150 points each
• Dragonscale Expedition: Return — the patch 10.0.7 storyline with a guaranteed batch of reputation for completion
• Forbidden Reach events — public events such as "Echoes of Neltharion" and "Secret Treasures of the Forbidden Reach" grant reputation to all participants
• Flightstone Mentor — a buff that increases reputation gained with all supplementary Dragonflight factions

Treysh on the Forbidden Reach

Sells all eight vorquins. She was originally located at the Old Wyrmrest Outpost; after patch 10.0.7 she moved to the Morqut Village. Approximate coordinates: 45 by 61 on the Forbidden Reach.

1. Open the map of the Dragon Isles and select the Forbidden Reach
2. Fly to the Morqut Village in the central part of the island
3. Find Treysh — she stands next to vorquin specimens
4. Open the goods list and select the Armored Leyline Vorquin

Tethalash in Valdrakken

Sells the same line of mounts but is located in the capital of the Dragon Isles, convenient for players who frequent Valdrakken.

• Coordinates in Valdrakken: approximately 26 by 34
• City district: Wyrmrest Rise in the western part of the capital
• Next to Tethalash there is also a sample vorquin, which makes it easy to spot the right NPC

Combat Stance and Animations

Vorquins are the only mounts in the game capable of entering combat by rearing up on their hind legs and attacking with their claws. This is a purely visual effect (the damage dealt remains 0), but the animation triggers when mobs come within aggro range.

• While moving, the vorquin breaks into a gallop with a characteristic swaying of the armor plates
• At rest, it periodically strikes with its hoof and turns its head
• When casting spells while mounted, the model performs a short head-toss animation
