Get Armored War-Bred Tauralus mount

Armored War-Bred Tauralus is a ground mount from the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.0.1). It is a massive armored tauralus bull with a solid steel helm that covers its entire face and a heavy plated caparison bearing the heraldry of the House of the Chosen — the military faction of Maldraxxus. By model, the mount belongs to the tauralus family: enormous horned ungulates bred by the Necrolords as warmounts for the battlefields of Maldraxxus.

The mount is granted as a guaranteed reward for the quest The Third Fall of Kel'Thuzad — the final episode of the Necrolord covenant campaign. The quest concludes the chapter "Storming the House of Rituals" and becomes available only after reaching Renown 22 with the Necrolords. During the task you storm the citadel of the lich Kel'Thuzad, free the captured Margrave Sin'dane, and finally cast down the covenant's archenemy.

The item's flavor text underscores the nature of this mount: the tauralus that serve the armies of Maldraxxus are bred without an ounce of mercy and are armored only once they have proven that neither blade nor spell will stop them on the path to victory.

• Guaranteed reward — unlike the Armored Tauralus of the House of the Chosen, which is bought with currency, the Armored War-Bred Tauralus is awarded automatically for turning in a story quest. It is impossible to miss if you carry the Necrolord campaign through to the end.
• Covenant story climax — the source quest closes the tale of the conflict between the Necrolords and the lich Kel'Thuzad. It is the finale the whole campaign was built toward, so the mount works as a "service medal".
• The full covenant tauralus set — together with the Armored Tauralus of the House of the Chosen and the Armored Plagued Tauralus it makes up the trio of armored models. The unarmored variants — Tauralus of the House of the Chosen, Plagued Tauralus and War-Bred Tauralus — are obtained separately.
• Account-wide access at Renown 80 — at first the mount can be summoned only by a Necrolord character, but after the release of Dragonflight and the introduction of the warband, access is unlocked account-wide upon reaching Renown 80 with the Necrolords.
• 10 out of 10 speed — the mount gains a +60% or +100% movement-speed bonus depending on your riding skill, meaning it matches the maximum speed of ground transport.

The path to the mount is strictly linear: you must belong to the Necrolord covenant, raise Renown to level 22 and reach the finale of the story campaign. You cannot skip steps or buy the mount from a vendor.

1. Level your character to at least 70. On the current 11.1 patch the Shadowlands intro campaign remains available, but the mount itself is tied to the covenant system — it still works in legacy-content mode.
2. Head to Oribos. If you have not started Shadowlands yet, take the intro quest from the Herald of Naria in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. If the story is already underway, the portal from your capital takes you straight to the Enclave of Oribos.
3. In the Enclave, approach Baroness Draka — the Necrolord representative — and perform the oath ritual. If your character already belonged to another covenant, you must first dissolve the old pact.
4. Complete the Maldraxxus intro quests in the Seat of the Primus — this unlocks the covenant campaign and the Renown counter.
5. Carry out the weekly Necrolord tasks and the campaign story chapters as they open. Renown is built through the weekly "Replenish the Reservoir" quests, story quests, Soul Wells, expansion story campaigns and Torghast.
6. Once Renown reaches level 22, the final chapter "Storming the House of Rituals" opens at Baroness Draka in the Seat of the Primus.
7. Complete the three quests of the chapter: "Mobilizing Maldraxxus", "Calling the Allies" and the final The Third Fall of Kel'Thuzad.
8. Finish the solo scenario "Storming the House of Rituals" and turn the quest in to Baroness Draka. As a reward you receive the Reins of the Armored War-Bred Tauralus.
9. Use the item from your bag — the mount is added to your collection journal. If your Renown is below 80, summoning is available only to the Necrolord character; upon reaching 80 the mount becomes available to all characters on the account.

The Necrolord campaign consists of nine chapters. Each opens upon reaching a certain Renown level. The Reins of the Armored War-Bred Tauralus are granted only in the finale, so you cannot obtain the mount before Renown 22.

If your Renown is below 22, focus on the weekly leveling sources: the weekly "Replenish the Reservoir" quest, the Bastion/Ardenweald/Revendreth story quests, Shadowlands campaign achievements and Torghast activities. On the current patch Renown is not capped weekly, so you can make up the remaining levels to 22 in one or two sessions on a high-level character.

The final chapter is a story arc of three quests, all at Baroness Draka in the Seat of the Primus. The climax is set in a solo scenario where, shoulder to shoulder with the covenant leaders, you storm the lich's lair.

1. Calling In All Debts — Draka gathers allies: Lady Vashj, Kael'thas and Balmedar from Revendreth. Completed through a series of short quests and dialogues.
2. War at the House of Rituals — the Necrolords and their allies launch the siege of the Exoramas necropolis. You secure a beachhead and prepare the assault.
3. The Third Fall of Kel'Thuzad — the final solo scenario. You burst into Kel'Thuzad's throne room, fight through his host, free the captured Margrave Sin'dane and cast down the lich himself alongside your allies. The scenario is fully solo-completable on any class and specialization.

The Armored War-Bred Tauralus is one of three armored tauralus of the covenant. All three use the same silhouette but differ in the coloring of their caparisons, helms and coat color.

The unarmored versions — Tauralus of the House of the Chosen, Plagued Tauralus and War-Bred Tauralus — are separate entries in the mount journal and are collected in parallel. If you are farming the Shadowlands collection, it makes sense to budget time for all six models at once.

• Wrong covenant — if you swore to the Kyrian, the Night Fae or Revendreth, the Necrolord campaign is closed. Switching covenants is possible at the representative in the Enclave of Oribos, but you will have to re-earn the reset progress from scratch. It is best to pick the Necrolords from the start if this mount is your goal.
• Renown 80 not reached — before the warband was introduced, the mount was hard-locked to the character's covenant and class. After the account-wide system was added, access is unlocked at Renown 80. Below that threshold the mount will be blocked on alts of other covenants.
• Previous chapters skipped — the ninth chapter will not open without completing chapters 1–8 in sequence. If Baroness Draka has no final quest, check your campaign journal and finish all story quests up to your current Renown.
• Scenario does not start — sometimes the final scenario is not credited if a cutscene is skipped or the server drops. In that case, relog, leave and return to the Seat of the Primus — the scenario will offer to continue from the last checkpoint.
• Mount did not arrive in the mail — the quest hands the item straight to your inventory. If your slots are full, the item flies to your mailbox. Check the box at any mailbox in Maldraxxus or Oribos.
