Overview

Ascendant's Aquilon

Game iconAscendant's Aquilon is an epic flying mount added to World of Warcraft in patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a massive mechanical centurion bird clad in gilded armor, forged by the Eternal Forge of Bastion and imbued with a fragment of the power of the Ascended — the highest Kyrian who have passed the final trial and achieved apotheosis. Visually, the mount differs from previous aquilons with its rich golden coloring, radiant energy veins, and more ornate armor detailing.

The mount is sold by Adjutant Galos — the Kyrian Covenant's Renown quartermaster — for 7,500 Reservoir Anima after reaching Renown level 70. It is one of the four "centurion aquilons" of Bastion: the mount model is shared with the Game iconElysian Aquilon, the Game iconBattle-Hardened Aquilon, and the Game iconSchism Aquilon, differing only in coloring.

Why you want this mount

  • A prestigious pinnacle of the Kyrian collection — the mount only unlocks at Renown level 70, so owning it proves that you have fully completed the covenant campaign and the patch 9.1 storyline.
  • Unique golden coloring — among the four centurion aquilons, the Ascended version looks the most ceremonial and fits the Kyrian transmog set.
  • A flying mount with standard speed — after learning Soaring over the Shadowlands, the aquilon flies in any zone of the expansion at +150% / +310% speed depending on your riding skill.
  • Available to your entire warband after Renown 80 — the mount is initially restricted to the Kyrian, but at Renown level 80 it unlocks for all characters on your account, including members of other covenants.
  • Remains a permanent goal on alts — even after returning to current The War Within content, the mount stays one of the most accessible covenant rewards when re-leveling Renown on secondary characters.

How to obtain

The path to the Game iconAscendant's Aquilon consists of three stages: joining the Kyrian Covenant, leveling Renown up to level 70, and accumulating 7,500 Reservoir Anima.

  1. Level your character to 10 and complete the Shadowlands introductory storyline that lets you choose a covenant. Patch 9.1.5 introduced an accelerated campaign skip for alts
  2. Join the Game iconKyrian Covenant in Bastion by accepting the quest Choosing Your Purpose. If you belong to another covenant, you will have to switch allegiance with Aline in Oribos.
  3. Raise your Renown with the Kyrian to 70. This requires completing the main covenant campaign (9.0), the Korthia storyline (9.1), and the Zereth Mortis campaign (9.2), as well as weekly tasks.
  4. Accumulate 7,500 Reservoir Anima. The maximum reserve is 35,000 units, so you can gather the amount in advance.
  5. Head to Elysian Hold — the Kyrian sanctum in the northeastern part of Bastion — and find Adjutant Galos. Use /way Elysian Hold 62.9 30.9 for precise navigation.
  6. Open the dialogue with the quartermaster and purchase the Game iconAscendant's Aquilon for 7,500 Reservoir Anima. The mount will be added to your collection immediately.

Mount source

The Game iconAscendant's Aquilon is a covenant reward, not a drop or an achievement. Its sole source is the vendor Adjutant Galos in Elysian Hold, available exclusively to Kyrian members at Renown 70. There is no other way to obtain the mount — no random drop, no event, and no trade between players.

Requirements and preparation

Joining the Kyrian Covenant

Before purchasing the mount, you must officially belong to the Kyrian Covenant. If you are in another covenant, the switch is instant, but on returning to the Kyrian a penalty applies: part of the covenant features is locked until you complete daily loyalty tasks over the course of a week.

  • Complete the quest Choosing Your Purpose in Elysian Hold
  • Gain access to the covenant medium and Bastion's transport network
  • Unlock access to the Spirit Black Market and special Renown quests

Leveling Renown to 70

As of patch 9.2, the maximum Renown level is 80. Reaching level 70 requires about 10–14 weeks of regular farming on a single character, or 3–5 weeks if you actively complete every source.

  • Main Shadowlands campaign (9.0) — grants Renown from 1 to 40
  • Weekly quest Shaping Fate in Korthia — +1 Renown level for filling the bar
  • Zereth Mortis weekly quest from Highlord Bolvar Fordragon — +1 Renown level
  • Killing Shadowlands raid bosses — high chance to increase Renown. Use the solo raid finder via Ta'elfar in Oribos
  • First Torghast wing of the week — a guaranteed +1 level
  • Daily quests in Korthia and Zereth Mortis — points toward the "Weave the Fate" task

Accumulating Reservoir Anima

You need 7,500 Reservoir Anima to make the purchase. The maximum reserve is 35,000, so you can save the amount with a buffer for future rewards.

  • Shadowlands World Bosses — 250 Anima for the weekly boss
  • Daily dungeon quests from Oribos — up to 175 Anima per quest
  • Daily quests in Korthia and Zereth Mortis — 25–75 Anima each
  • Weekly quest Replenish the Reservoir — collect 1,000 Anima for honor or gold rewards
  • Rare mobs in Zereth Mortis — drop generous stacks of Anima items

How to reach Adjutant Galos

The mount vendor is located in Elysian Hold — the Kyrian Covenant sanctum in Bastion. This is an enclosed instanced zone, accessible only to Kyrian members.

  1. Use the Hearthstone for an instant return to the sanctum, or teleport from Oribos through the Hall of Holding
  2. Once in Elysian Hold, open the map and find the Forge of Bonds — a large round chamber in the central part of the first level
  3. Go inside the Forge of Bonds and use the macro /way Elysian Hold 62.9 30.9
  4. Adjutant Galos stands in a small alcove across from the Forge of Bonds — he is a centurion in blue armor next to the other covenant quartermasters
  5. Open the dialogue and select the mounts tab. With Renown 70, the Game iconAscendant's Aquilon will appear in the list of offerings

Alternative route

If you have recently joined the covenant and have not yet set your Hearthstone, use the portal in Oribos in the Hall of Holding: it leads directly to Elysian Hold. You can also fly to the Aspirant's Rest in Bastion on any flying mount and use the internal transport network.

Optimizing Renown and Anima farming

Daily routine

To quickly reach Renown level 70, perform a fixed set of actions on each login.

  1. Enter Korthia and pick up the daily quests — this grants points for the weekly "Shaping Fate" task
  2. Gather the Anima World in Zereth Mortis: daily quests, rare mobs, and world events grant 5–10 Anima per event
  3. Check for active covenant assaults in Korthia — they grant Renown and a significant amount of Anima
  4. Use the Hearthstone for a quick return to the sanctum to turn in quests

Weekly checklist

  • Complete Shaping Fate in Korthia — +1 Renown
  • Complete the Zereth Mortis weekly quest — +1 Renown
  • Kill the current world boss — +1 Renown with a high chance
  • Clear one Torghast wing — +1 Renown
  • Complete the LFR version of the current raid — a chance for +1 Renown from each boss
  • Turn in 1,000 Anima to the reservoir — the reward for Replenish the Reservoir

Speeding up at current level

In The War Within, all Shadowlands tasks are completed solo without difficulty. Daily sessions last 15–20 minutes, while weekly ones take 30–40 minutes.

  • Collect Anima in bulk in Korthia and Zereth Mortis, moving between zones via the Oribos portal
  • Do not turn in quest Anima orbs one at a time — keep them in your bags and empty them all at once at the reservoir
  • If you are short of Renown 70, do not spend Anima on minor purchases: by the time the mount unlocks, the budget should already be ready

Tips

1

Plan ahead — by Renown 70 most players have already accumulated more than 10,000 Reservoir Anima. If you actively spend currency on transmog vendors and pets, set aside 7,500 units as a dedicated reserve.

2

Do not confuse the four aquilons — the model is identical for all four mounts, the only difference being the coloring.

3

The Elysian Aquilon is granted for free at Renown 45 — it is your first Kyrian mount, and it is a good indicator of progress toward the Ascended one.

4

Upon reaching Renown 80, you will receive the mount for all characters of your warband, including members of the Necrolords, Night Fae, and Venthyr. Until then, the inv_automatonfliermount_silverAscendant's Aquilon can only be used on Kyrian characters.

5

Use the solo raid finder via Ta'elfar in Oribos: Shadowlands raids have become much easier in The War Within, and each boss has a chance to increase Renown.

6

Preserve the story moments — completing the 9.1 and 9.2 campaigns not only raises Renown but also unlocks additional Bastion transport networks, which simplifies travel to Adjutant Galos.

7

Do not sell extra Anima items — minor potions and shards left in your bags after completing quests also convert into Reservoir Anima when turned in.

8

Check active campaigns right after joining — start the "Choosing Your Purpose" chain and level the first 10–15 Renown levels in one evening through the 9.1.5 accelerated skip.
