Get Ashes of Belo'ren mount
Overview

Ashes of Belo'ren is a flying phoenix mount twisted by the energy of the Void. It is one of the most spectacular and prestigious mounts of Midnight Season 1. The phoenix is rendered in dark purple tones with voidic discharges, which makes it visually stand out sharply from the classic
Ashes of Al'ar.
According to lore, Belo'ren was one of Al'ar's last hatchlings. He was taken to the Isle of Quel'Danas and raised as a defender of the Sunwell. It was believed that death held no power over him, yet the dark naaru L'ura twisted him with the energy of the Void.
The mount drops only on Mythic difficulty from the Midnight Falls final encounter in the Isle of Quel'Danas raid.
Why obtain this mount
- Unique model — the only voidic phoenix in the game. The dark purple silhouette with cosmic discharges noticeably stands out among other mounts.
- Prestige — the mount is available only on Mythic difficulty of the last encounter of the season's final raid. Having it speaks to serious raiding progress.
- Higher chance right now — while the Midnight expansion is current, every kill drops 3 copies of the mount for a 20-player raid. After the expansion ends, the drop chance will fall to the standard value (~1%), and obtaining the mount will become significantly harder.
- A nod to the classics — the spiritual heir of the legendary Ashes of Al'ar from The Burning Crusade.

How to reach the raid
The Isle of Quel'Danas raid is located on the Isle of Quel'Danas, north of Silvermoon in Quel'Thalas.
Route
- Use a portal to Silvermoon. Portals are available in the capital cities of both factions.
- From Silvermoon, head north, across the bridge to the Isle of Quel'Danas.
- The raid entrance is at the end of the bridge route leading to the Sunwell Terrace.
The entrance is visible from afar thanks to the distinctive voidic effects around the portal.
Raid bosses
March on Quel'Danas is a compact raid with only two encounters. Both bosses must be defeated in sequence: without a victory over the first, access to the second will not open.
Boss 1: Belo'ren, Child of Al'ar
Belo'ren, Child of Al'ar is the raid's first encounter. A phoenix twisted by the energy of the Void, he serves as the introductory test before the final fight.
Key mechanics:
- Voidlight Fusion — Belo'ren periodically grants each player one of two polarities: Light (reduces Light damage taken by 50%) or Void (reduces Shadow damage taken by 50%). The encounter's mechanics hinge on distributing players correctly by color.
- Charged Feathers — random players are targeted by feathers of Light or Void. After 6 seconds the feather fires and strikes the first player in its path. The feathers must be intercepted by players with the matching polarity.
- Guardian's Decree (tank mechanic) — a series of Light and Void cones. The tank must take the hit that matches their current polarity, otherwise the boss gains a 30% damage buff.
- Fatal Plunge — when Belo'ren's health drops to zero, he soars up and crashes into the center of the arena. Damage decreases with distance. After this the boss retreats into an egg.
- Rebirth Phase — Belo'ren shelters in an ashen egg. The raid must deal maximum damage to the egg within 30 seconds to weaken his Immortal Flame before he is reborn.
The encounter teaches the raid to work with the Light and Void polarity system, which is the central theme of the entire raid.
Boss 2: L'ura
L'ura is the raid's final encounter and one of the most technically demanding in Midnight Season 1. The dark naaru L'ura completely corrupts the Sunwell, turning it into a Well of Darkness.
Key mechanics:
- Scythe of the Heavens — L'ura releases spinning blades that ricochet across the room. Contact deals massive cosmic damage.
- Mournful Dirge of Death — L'ura performs a melody, marking players with dark runes. She then fires a laser beam that activates every rune in its path. On Mythic difficulty the runes do not fade on their own — they must be cleansed manually.
- Warding Prism — on Heroic difficulty L'ura creates a rotating barrier of matrices, each of which reduces the damage she takes by 33%. On Mythic difficulty this ability is absent, but its absence is offset by other complications.
- Midnight Crystals — fragments of the dark naaru that scatter as shards and deal cosmic damage to the entire raid.
This encounter is a test of the group's maximum damage (enrage timer) and coordination. The mount drops from this very boss.
Item levels from the raid
| Encounter | Raid Finder | Normal | Heroic | Mythic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Belo'ren, Child of Al'ar | 233 | 246 | 259 | 272 |
| L'ura | 243 | 256 | 269 | 282 |
Step-by-step guide to obtaining the mount
Step 1: Prepare your character
For Mythic progression in the Isle of Quel'Danas, item level 502 or higher is recommended. The main sources of gear:
- Heroic difficulty of the Spire of the Void and Chasm of Dreams raids (opened 2 weeks earlier)
- Mythic+ keys of level +7 and higher
- The Great Vault
Step 2: Join a raiding guild
Mythic difficulty requires an organized group of 20 people. Random groups from the finder very rarely make it to Mythic L'ura. The best path to the mount is a stable raiding guild with Mythic progression.
Step 3: Clear Heroic difficulty
Before Mythic progression, learn the mechanics of both bosses on Heroic difficulty. Heroic mode is available from March 31, 2026.
Step 4: Kill L'ura on Mythic difficulty
After defeating Belo'ren on Mythic difficulty, access to the final encounter opens. Each kill of L'ura on Mythic difficulty guarantees a drop of 3 copies of the mount for 20 players. The mount is distributed at random as personal loot.
Step 5: Repeat every week
Each character can kill the boss on Mythic difficulty once per week. If the mount does not drop — try again the following week or bring an alternate character.
Farming optimization
Drop chance
With the current drop mechanic (3 mounts per 20 players), your chance to obtain the mount from a single kill is 15%. With weekly clears on a single character:
| Number of weeks | Cumulative probability |
|---|---|
| 1 | 15% |
| 4 | 48% |
| 8 | 73% |
| 12 | 86% |
| 16 | 93% |
With two characters the odds double. Three to four alts with Mythic progression provide a practically guaranteed mount within the season.
When it is best to farm
The optimal time to obtain the mount is the second half of the season. By this point:
- The raid's gear will grow significantly thanks to progression and upgrades
- Bosses will be killed faster and more reliably
- More guilds will reach Mythic Midnight Falls
- Farm groups will appear, specifically gathering the mount
After the expansion ends
When Midnight stops being the current expansion, the drop chance will fall to ~1% per kill, and the raid will become soloable or clearable by a small group. However, at a 1% chance you will have to spend an average of 100 attempts — and that is about two years of weekly farming on a single character.
Tips and recommendations
- Do not neglect consumables. Potions, flasks, augment runes and healthstones significantly increase the chances of successfully clearing the boss. Midnight Falls is a test of maximum damage, and every percent counts.
- Watch the loot distribution. If your guild uses an internal distribution system (for example, loot council), discuss the priority on the mount in advance.
- Consider multiple characters. Each additional character with Mythic progression is another chance per week. Even two characters double the probability.
- Heroic mode does not give the mount. The mount drops exclusively from Mythic difficulty. Heroic and Normal clears offer no chance of the drop.
Other rewards from the raid
Besides the mount, March on Quel'Danas offers:
- Tier set omni-token — the only way to choose a specific tier set slot in Season 1
- Item level 272-282 gear (Mythic difficulty) — some of the best of the season
- Decorative housing items — several decor options tied to the difficulty cleared
- Achievements — including achievements for Heroic and Mythic raid clears
- Transmog — unique visual gear models in the voidic blood elf style
